Beautiful pictures! Have you checked it recently?

Although I prefer a non-disney rod.. haha my girls will probably love it.. Someone had a good idea of bringing them there and letting them pick it out at the store.. I might try something like that. Just have to make sure they only pick the poles that are within my limits.. I'm thinking I'll grab a few and set them on a counter away from the others and then let them choose from the selection I give them.

Not silly at all buddy! I had my eye on those for a bit. I was thinking about just doing a cheap bobber set-up for some bluegills and very light line like 4 or 6lb. Not sure where I would go but I want it to be near home just in case the trip goes "south" and I need to end it short. So probably will be a local pond nearby... maybe the golf course across the road? haha..

2 weeks till the rut elk tag and my sons bow gets ran over
TonyC replied to Adicted's topic in The Campfire
I almost cried looking at the pictures myself.. haha Hard lesson but a great one to learn. Makes me think back to my military days, NEVER leave your gear or especially your weapon on the ground or more than one arm distance away. -
After hearing muledeerarea, that's definitely true.. if it's a "Cheap" house then definitely avoid the 2nd floor.

That's a good looking buck! What a lucky kid! I hope you take a picture of his huge smile when he sees his trophy up on that wall

That's how I was also.. So I'm trying to do my best to keep them active in my life and try to make it as fun as possible for them.
-
Congrats!

What's a good age for them to be starting these hunts? I'm pretty sure they are way too young right now but maybe I'm wrong.

Looks like we got a bunch of comedians today .. haha. As far as the safe goes.. it is definitely questionable and I would search out a main support beam and do your best to place the safe ontop of that. Best of luck! Let us know how you end up accomplishing this task if you do decide to.

Fair game... I wouldn't worry about it. Worst case, call G&F and see..
-
That's just awesome! I love the fact that she wanted it exactly the way it was.
-
Ha! Wouldn't that be nice? Anyway.. like the others stated it's probably best just to pay the $3.00 and get a new one.
-
Wowza! That's a neat picture.

Man...!!! Looking at all these pictures gets my blood pumping! Makes me feel like I'm doing something wrong. Hmm... It also makes me want to give the deep sea a try.. Any takers?! haha.. Anyway, awesome pictures and thanks for sharing. Tony.

question about auto repairs versus buying a new car
TonyC replied to naturegirl's topic in The Campfire
I truly believe this isn't as big of an issue as the dealers want you to believe. However, go ahead and get a second opinion from someone you trust. If the engine is maintained with clean oil and fuel.. a rev at the beginning of startup will not harm anything unless it is getting into the "red line" of the rpms... In other words, unless the dang thing is "pedal to the metal" you don't have to worry about it. Also, if it was being starved by fuel or oil.. I would guarantee you that your check engine light would go off which allows an easy diagnostic of just checking the code. Once again, I would gladly overlook things for you if you aren't able to find someone trustworthy. I have a few friends who bring all their automotive problems to me for my opinion before going to another mechanic/dealership. Tony. -
question about auto repairs versus buying a new car
TonyC replied to naturegirl's topic in The Campfire
I would actually get a second, maybe even a third opinion from other mechanics other than a dealership. A rev cycle with a slight increase in rpm then back down is completely normal and will not harm the vehicle. I've been a mechanic for over 5 years and 4 of the years in the military. Vehicles are stronger and more durable than most people think as long as the "basics" are taken care of. As for the repair, that seems to be a high price. You can literally buy a new engine and put it in for that cost. IMO, maintenance/repairs done right by a mechanic will almost always be cheaper than the dealership. If you need any help/second opinion I can gladly help out. I would give my opinion for no cost and if you wanted me to do any type of service/repair I would do it just for a little over whatever the cost of the parts may be. Either way you choose, I hope you have the best of luck! Tony. -
Hey all, I was curious on people's opinions about how they feel about the use of ear protection. Although I feel that ear protection prevents our hearing sense to be utilized while hunting it protects us over time from hearing damage. So, is it worth it?

Nothing but a dust storm here from what I noticed...

Well.. overhauls are generally a pain in the butt man. Most of the time, you need to disassemble it all down and send in the block and have it re-machined if it is salvageable. My opinion is to keep looking out for a decent used motor or buy a cheap crate motor. Let me know if you need any assistance.. I'm not a certified mechanic but I was a mechanic for the military for four years.. So, I know enough to get things done. More times then none, it will cost you more in money and time to try and overhaul an engine.
