Very cool guys! Adam, I can stop by tomorrow or sunday; whatever you prefer. I can offer a bit of cash for a rod or two; it doesn't need to be anything special. I'm assuming my girls will only have enough patience to fish about 30 minutes right now anyway. Also, I wouldn't mind picking your brain in regards to my upcoming hunt.

Hey everyone! If you have one or two fishing poles for kids all I ask is that you consider passing them down to my girls. I am excited to get my girls out fishing because I believe they will truly enjoy it and are about the right age to start! Tony.

Awesome pictures. If I came across one I would hesitate to call G&F just for the reason that there's a possible chance that they will take it. However, I would like to think the majority of the time they wouldn't care. I found a few cow skulls laying around on my scouting trip for javelina if that counts. . . haha

How effective are the steri-pen purifiers? Anyone know about these products and/or have tried them?

Awesome post! Good job TJ!

Man.. reading your post just gave me severe nausea. I'm sorry to hear this unfortunate event; best of luck acquiring your antlers. However, I'm sure you will be blessed with another great hunt to compensate for your loss.

Hmm.. sorry to hear. I guess I'll come a bit more prepared for my camping trip. I will be placing a tracker in my vehicle in a hidden spot and carrying all my valuables on me. IMHO, I feel like the lack of punishment for criminal acts has led to the increase of theft and so on... People just don't care about morals anymore.

I disappeared off the face of the earth for a bit due to training. I'm officially a commercial rated pilot! We also already made the trip out to NV for Thanksgiving. I forgot all about this post Anyway, I appreciate the offers for the rods but it's nothing I can't afford when the time comes that I feel the girls have just enough patience to get out and try fishing for the first time! Once again, thank you all and hope the holidays are full of cheer and joy. I will be posting my girl's first experience with pictures(and maybe a video if it isn't complete chaos...)

Awesome post and thanks for sharing pictures! It was a great inspiration, I can't wait for my girls to get a bit older to take them out.

I do all my own work... If you guys ever need a second opinion, assistance, or anything. Just give me a pm.

Very cool post and thanks for the invite! I will definitely talk to the wife and try to swing by. My girls LOVE seeing the lights.

Well, I am not familiar with the area but my advice that I have heard from others is normally the "road untravelled" or the more tough access areas to hunt are where you are going to get your greatest reward since most hunters are indeed looking for the easy access spots and content finding things just off the road a few miles. As far as the areas you are travelling and the overall "approval rate", I would sit down with a friend with considerable experience or even visit G&F to go over your route. From there, if you get the "okay" and people are still frowning... who gives a dang? -Tony.
-
Yeah, I suppose when in doubt, the "right" thing to do is call G&F to learn about the access to that specific area.

I've had the samething happen nearby. A "resident" warned me that I wasnt able to pass but there was no signage stating I couldn't enter; however, it did prohibit the use of a vehicle. So.. I travelled by "chevro-legs"

Awesome post Adam! Believe me, I am just as bummed but I'm glad it turned out to be a great trip. You deserve it! My sacrificed time went to good use. I'm approximately a few weeks before I accomplish my commercial rating. Next time we will do some scouting through a bird's eye view. Once again, congrats!

Hey all! I know in the long run it depends on the ultimate decision of the child to go hunting or not; however, I'm looking for any and all advice on how you would raise twin girls to not only become hunters; but LOVE it! I truly hope to share my passion of flying, the outdoors, hunting, and fishing with my girls. Also, not only do I desire to have something in common with them, I want to raise them the "right way" which to me, means... having a high respect for themselves, strangers, friends, and family. I'm terrified when I look at today's generations and how rude and disrespectful they are. I repeatedly have nightmares about my girls developing such characteristics.. It doesn't help that they have already picked up bad habits from other little kids from their school... What the heck do I do guys and gals?! They are almost four years old; however, they are behind in their communication skills. (I also believe they are smarter than they look and can actually understand a lot of what we tell them but they are stubborn... just like their papa was) So... With respect and consideration that these are my first kids ever and I happened to get twins... help me out and give me some advice on what you would do! Tony.

Awesome posts everyone! MY overall thought is that it just needs to be fun and not forced upon them. I'm still a bit undecided what I should introduce to them and at what age but I suppose it doesn't truly matter as long as you keep it simple and fun.. I'm planning on taking them out to fish veteran's oasis with a cheap bobber set-up. My assumption they will cast approximately 2 or 3 times and then want to walk around and see other things.. So.. I'm going to try to get them to do a small amount of fishing and then bring some bread or something to feed the fish/ducks... critters.. whatever may be out there at the time. haha.

That's a good distance away; however, we do plan on visiting family sometime in November or December which we could plan on making a stop by before reaching Nevada.
-
The closest lake I know of is the veteran's oasis or something like that?? There is a canal somewhat nearby I think but its probably about the same distance.

Thanks everyone! I'm loving all the stories and advice.

Loving the pictures! Definitely on my list of places to visit.
