Sorry Deerslam, i'm just going to put the info. here..not very computer literate, sorry still working on the photo posting....anyway go to homerocean.com all the info. is there. Our captian was ric sorenson, he was fantastic, i wanted to do this hunt for alot of years and it was everything i was hoping for and more would very highly recommend this transporter and this trip, without a doubt the biggest bang for the buck of any hunt out of state i've been on...right up there with going to mexico coues hunting...I would be very interested in any columbia blacktail info you or anyone else could offer, been trying to harvest one for a long time as well, made 1 trip to oregon a few years ago and did not connect...let me know if i can help you in any way...BH -

ok, i'll have my wife check out photobucket...Doug, i can't imagine the population being any better than it was, we saw alot of deer every day...my friend and i were trying to be selective and find the best bucks we could and we passed up multiple bucks every day, in fact we only harvested one buck apiece, continuing to look for better and better deer...the other guys on the boat really just wanted to hunt deer and they were dragging bucks back to the beach every day...Usually before we even set out for the day we would glass bucks from the boat and then from the time we hit shore and climbed we were seeing deer...Did get charged by a large brownie the first evening, charged to forty yards..(not awesome)..the bears were a definite threat, daily...spoke with several other hunters in the hotel and rest. and airport that hunted the south end, all had reported alot of deer and good harvest...Boat capt. saying several mild winters had pumped the pop. up, which is what i had been hearing...any other questions i'll be happy to help anyone going...BH -

Great report and pic's...I'm leaving on friday morning to do the same hunt....wondered if you had any advice or is there anything you would have done differently...Did you pack a tripod for glassing, or were you trying to keep the weight down...what did you carry in your pack? Any words of wisdom would be appreciated, thanks again for the pic's...Bob H. -
Hey congrats Tommy, sorry for the late response, sounds like a tough hunt. Coles hunt for oryx is in dec. Do they let you scout before the hunt or is it just a free for all on opening morning. I think you did great, sounds like alot of folks did'nt even get one.Again congradulations. Bob

As a side note... I heard that Garth Carter drew an early rilfle 10 Bull tag and a 13b deer tag..not trying to start any rumors..don't know if it's true or not......but that would be some strong luck if true, would'nt it??
-
Allen, it sounds like your taking the right approach, i really think it is bad luck. I went 5 years with nothing, my wife went several years not getting anything, my friend got his 2nd choice elk this year after 7 years with no tags, put my son Cole in for early whitetail hunts and cow elks hunts he should have been drawn for and he blanked. I personally do not belive in the bonus points system, it should be a preference point set up it would be much fairer...Sorry for no tags been there many times, just go on as many hunts as you can and enjoy this awesome state, you're time will come...BH

I got a 10 rifle elk late hunt, my wife got drawn for late 12aw....2nd choice and got tag #4...my son cole blanked...BH

I shot a 105 buck at 25 feet one time. My friend was below me in a canyon and i was walking down the ridge, i came around an oak and the buck was walking away from me at 15 to 20 feet with his head stretched out like a snake, his chin 3 or 4 inches off the ground, he was so focused on my friend below me, he never knew i was there, I missed the first shot at 25 feet, i was so freaked out, he didn't move and i was fortunate enough to get a second chance, he was a beautiful 4x4 plus eye gaurds, from casa blanca canyon, in the santa ritas, it was awesome.

I like it couesdiehard, I put in for that hunt as well.
-
Parot, I drew the same tag, almost all private with little to no access, spotty public ground, take a look at Gillespie mtn. north end...depending on what happens in the az draw thats probably where i will be... good luck..
-
UNIT 26 For me, 1 rst hunt, was my 2nd choice wife and son were not drawn for anything....
-
Congradulations to you guy's, Tommy's a great guy. I drew a unit 26 tag 1rst hunt, 2nd choice should be interesting. My wife and son blanked, although my son drew and oryx tag earlier this year, so he's set...Congrats again
-
I put in for muzzleloader antelope, we use the muzzle tags as 2nd choice on alot of our picks. I've been drawn for elk and antelope muzzleloader it's a great way to go and better odds, 6a muzzleloader is a sleeper for a good bull.
-
COUESNUT, you should be applying in new mexico, brother. Probably would have pulled a tag over there by now, and they have some great goats.

My son Cole had a 6a tag and we gave it a good run but did not connect. Opening weekend they were henned up pretty good but still called in a nice tom for him but he made some movement at the wrong time and got caught. After the first weekend i started taking him up in the evenings and we would hunt in the mornings and get back in time for him to go to school, worked out well we got into birds each trip and he missed a shot with his 20ga. on the 2nd weekday trip, couple more close calls after that but never came together for him, he sure got some great expieriences this spring though, did'nt find any sheds, sure is a great hunt....CB1

Dan, If it goes down as outlined above, it's a great plan..I too would like to see some junior tag's issued.

Ernesto, that's a heartbreaker, sorry to hear that story, didn't even know you were going down there, try and go back NOW, i'll talk to you'r wife for you, if you need anything let me know. Couple of years ago i was whitetail hunting in Idaho and found a great buck, mid 160's type, right at dark, maybe 125 yards out at the edge of timber, i sat down and said thank you god put my rife to my face and couldn't see a thing , scope was completly fogged through and through, tried to clean it, even tried getting closer and just line of sight down the barrel it, no good, got to dark, never saw the buck again, still think about that one.
