Glad it turned out good for you. There were a lot of good tips on this thread. I wanted to add that I've had good results by adding Tide with bleach to the water before boiling it and putting the head in.

Loved the story - laughed through most of it! Congrats to both of you on two great bucks!

Their web site says they issue the numbers randomly, and you can't personalize the plates. -
well said - and true!

Looks like a great deer to me! Thanks for sharing the story and pix and congratulations!!

ArizonaGuide, Do you have a model # or product #/name for the system? I can't find anything called a "multi-pack" on the Lansky website. Thanks. Dave

Nice buck and a great memory for you!

Thanks Doug - that will be a good way to start the new year for someone. FYI to other members - I bought a spotting scope and binos from Doug this fall and was completely satisfied with his help and advice, the way he handled the purchase, quick shipping and the quality of the products. I would not hesitate to recommend him if you're looking for optics. Dave

Doug, The birds we saw were all pretty good size, but like I said - real spooky. They flushed at about 50 yds and hit the ground running. We had a brittany, and she couldn't begin to catch up with them. We did Kingman I think three times last year and did pretty well. But the areas we hunted though are getting a lot of development activity - lots of new roads being laid out so i'm guessing the birds are being pushed out. We did flush a second covey out of one of those thick canyon bottoms - probably 50-60 birds. But with all the catclaw/mesquite, all we could do was catch glimpses of the dog chasing the birds on the ground, then hear as they finally flushed. Real frustrating - not to mention painful! Where you headed for Mearns? I had a Coues tag in 30B - hunted all six days plus the Thursday before scouting. Saw only one covey near the 3 Sisters Ranch - maybe 20 or so birds. It was right at dark and all i had was my 7MM. Anyway, good luck. Hadn't seen a German wire-hair before - she is a great looking dog! Dave

Great buck! Great mass! Thanks for sharing the pix.

I agree with you - no argument with the increases.

hunted south of Kingman yesterday - say 2 coveys (10 birds total) in 6 hours of walking! Not nearly as many birds as last year, and way more spooky! by the way, great looking dog - what kind of dog is she?

6A pig, no turkey

I have an almost brand new Badlands 2200 for sale. I used it one day during the early hunt last week. Paid $160 three weeks ago - asking $100 + shipping, if necessary. Nothing wrong with it - I just don't like the way it fits me. Dave

Awesome bull - thanks for posting the video

Wow! I'm kinda new to the site, but I really look forward to reading everyone's posts about hunting and seeing the pix and videos some of the members are good enough to share with the rest of us. But I don't think whether or not I am religious has any relevance on this site - this is a hunting website. if i want to talk religion, i'll go to a religious site. by the way, those were some awesome pictures - gets your blood pumping for this Friday opening day! Good luck to everyone with a tag. Dave
