Friends first, wife's first, my first
cjl2010 replied to cjl2010's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Thank you guys. We got it done today on a spot and stalk archery bull. What a blast. Tough hunt. Talked my good friend in to 45 yds and he made a tough quartering shot. Glad his dad and brother in law were there to enjoy the moment with him -
What does your rifle weigh?
cjl2010 replied to Camofreak's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I look at it this way.... I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't do drugs, I don't have a bunch of babies running around, my truck is paid off, and I don't have a $2000/month rent, so my vice is my rifles and reloading. Money well spent in my opinion.[/quote No truck payment!!! I envy you!! -

Thanks a lot guys. The last year has been hectic. Built a house, got married, knocked her up. It was a much needed three weeks of being in the woods. Thanks again -
Dad and I shot a double last night at 450 yards. Never practiced long shots with the sun glaring right on your scope. I'll have to add that to the list of things I need to practice. Haven't experienced something as frustrating as trying to be a spotter and shade the scope and try to see a deer tucked in the shade.

With the other thread going about canting your rifle it's got me wanting a level. I would prefer to have a stand alone level instead of the built in top ring level. Any suggestions?

Had the same situation this weekend. Wife practiced with me a bunch this summer. 200-700 yards on steel. Had her set up at 570 on a mule deer and she didn't like it. Took an extra hour(she is 4 months pregnant) to get to 290 yards and she felt much better and it all ended in success. Practicing at longer ranges sure makes the closer shots seem much easier.

Should you get a tag if you can't read English?
cjl2010 replied to Huntnfish's topic in The Campfire
I'll trade you 10 non English speaking guys for the 5 white crack head sign holding bums that Payson inherited the last couple months. At least the Mexicans work -
I assumed you did gutless method and just wanted to hang the meet while you were still at camp... if it is your first time doing gutless method please don't forget the tenderloins.... seen it happen too many times

dang that's a bummer for your boys. I've never stepped foot in 33 so I can't offer any advise. I'm sure you'll enjoy any time you get to spend with them. Good luck
