Here is my 08 buck i killed back in October....glassed him up at 7:00a.m. and pulled the trigger at 11:30 after debating on shooting him or not for two hours on opening morning....I only had two days to hunt so I decided to take him and I am very happy with the decision I made.....he had a really bad wound on his shoulder and later while skinning him I found an arrowhead in the area that had broken off....it didn't seem to bother him since he was healthy and weighed in at 195 gutted....Hope everybody has success on there upcoming hunts.... I'm thinking of selling my lx and getting the drenalin....anybody have this bow and if you do, how does it shoot and what do you think of the slim limbs and feel of the bow....thanks guys Mark

For me the best part of hunting for coues is getting set up before sunrise and counting the minutes before glassing light. the antisipation that this might be the day mr. big buck shows himself is a great feeling. And for elk, I think the best part of my hunt is getting out of bed at 4 a.m and taking a swig of peppermint shnapps while the bulls are playing a tune for me. All you guys know what im talking about. its the best feeling in the world. Mark

hey all....there was a post about 2 months ago about a website where you can get actual satellite photos anywhere as long as you have coordinates...i was hoping someone can remember the website and toss it this way...I am getting tired of the same topo maps, I think this would be something to try out.. I have a good topic for ya fellas.......when your waking up in the wee morning, grabbing a bite to eat, putting the camos on, getting the truck warmed up and then your heading to your spot.............how far in do you guys hike to get to your honey hole?? my spot in 36a i hike in from the truck about 1 1/2 miles to my glassing hill for the morning hunt......then if nothing special is spotted i head further in, about 3/4s or a mile for the evening hunt....theres a small tank up in a ravine and right in that area is my honey hole( great glassing spot and many hills and pockets to spot some toads).....saw a lion in there last december which was pretty cool......anyways im interested in hearing how much strain you guys put on your legs to get to your pot of gold... mark

He guys...I've got a feeling that this is the year for some big bucks and bulls taken...last year was a great year also, but with all the rain we've had, the new policy for puttig in with mailing applications, and me getting my new swaro's(hahaah) ...i think this is going to be a awesome year for deer and elk..I was out in january bowhunting and saw several good bucks both mulie and coues...so unless someone got lucky with a bow....they are only going to get bigger this year!! I hope you guys feel the same...it just makes the july phone call that much more exciting....on another note, what units you guys putting in for this year.. for me its 36a december then 34a for mulie....hopefully if i dont get drawn for december i can get lucky and find that brusier i shot with my bow last year if hes still walking...for elk its the same as always, 5b south bull then 5b south cow..i love that unit and it has some monster bulls waiting to be featured in the next trophy hunter mag( ohh ya).. mark

I hope someone on this site can help me out. Im graduating From N.A.U this may and my major is Wildlife Management. My goal is to become a Game and Fish Warden hopefully in the future. My passion is hunting, being outdoors and helping others harvest animals. I was hoping someone might know of an outffiter that might need some help guiding. I was talking with Brain Latturner who runs MonsterMuleys.com and he has a friend in Alaska who needs help, but if I have the chance to stay in Arizona with my family i'd rather do that. I have much experience helping family and friends take trophy class animals and i'd love to help other hunters as well. If anybody has any info they can throw my way it would be much appreciated. Crimson Talons may look cool and what not.......but I shot a nice muley last december and wasn't able to bring it down.....even with a pass through....It was a good shot....it just didnt do the damage that most other broadheads do....Also when you shoot them at targets like the Black Hole or The block....or any other target made like that.....it breaks the blades.....since they are twisted blades you have to pull them out while twisting which is a bitch....i broke 2 blades doing that. before last year I was shooting the rockets.....I think i'll be staying with those from now on.....had great success with those.... Hows everybody doing with there javelina tag.....I've been out 3 times and put stalks on pigs each day, just never worked out......On sunday I got to within 10 yards of about an 80-85 inch coues, but had no tag( go figure) Just wanted to see how close I could get....Seen some nice mulies but I still feel the pain from losing that monster I shot in December, im pretty sure he lived though......After blowing a stalk on some pigs I ran into a skunk and took my frustration out on him....Hope everybody can get out soon and share some stories on pigs and rutting deer that you see along the way...godbless Mark

HEY EVERYBODY, I HAVE GOOD NEWS AND BAD NEWS FOR YA. WED MORNING I PUT A STALK ON A WHOPPER OF A MULE DEER, TOOK A 35 YARD SHOT AND I THINK I SINGLE LUNGED HIM BUT HAD A PASS THREW. I ENDED UP TRACKING HIM FOR 2 MILES IN THE FLATS. THERE WAS GOOD BLOOD THE WHOLE TIME SO IM FIGURING HE DIED DURING THE NIGHT. WE WENT OUT TODAY AND TRIED TO PICK UP FROM WHERE I LEFT THE FLAGING OFF AND COULDNT PICK UP THE TRACKS AGAIN. THE LAST TIME I SAW HIS TRACKS HE WALKED THREW A YELLOW BUSH AND HAD BLOOD SMEARED ALL OVER IT, SO I KNOW HE WAS STILL BLEEDING WHEN I LOST HIS TRACKS. IM FIGURING HE WILL GO 180+ AND I FEEL TERRIBLE NOT BEING ABLE TO BRING HIM HOME WITH ME. I WAS TALKING TO A FRIEND AND HE SAID THAT GETTING A TRACKING DOG WOULD BE THE BEST BET ON FINDING HIS TRAIL AGAIN. THE PROBLEM IS I DONT KNOW ANYBODY THAT HAS DOGS. SO IM WRITING THIS TO SEE IF ANYBODY HERE HAS OR KNOWS ANYBODY WITH A DOG AND WOULD GO OUT TOMARROW WITH ME TO TRY AND FIND THIS BUCK. ITS IN UNIT 34A AND ISNT THAT FAR OF A DRIVE OFF THE FREEWAY. I KNOW THIS IS THROWING THIS OUT BUT I NEED TO FIND THIS BUCK AND I HOPE SOMEONE ON HERE CAN HELP.IM LEAVING AT 630 TOMARROW MORNING TO GO BACK OUT. Went out again today with no luck. I hit the buck low but it was a good shot right behind the front shoulder. What im thinking is he was slightly quartered away when i shot it hit fine but went out threw his shoulder because the arrow broke about 6 inches from the nock but was covered in blood. We went to the last flagging and still couldnt find his tracks but like i said before the last flag had a good blood spray so i know he didnt dry up on me. On the GPS there was a wash ahead of where the deer was headed about .4 of a mile so we walked it up and down but couldnt find his tracks crossing. Maybe he died before it or maybe he just circled back where he was but his trail was pretty much headed straight west the whole time so who knows. We saw about 5 crows flying around the area but werent circling anything. You guys don't know how bad i feel about not being able to retrieve this buck of a lifetime. I've never gone through such a rollercoaster of emotions after i shot this buck. I went from doing backflips right after i shot him to dragging my feet and cursing the mighty one for letting this happen. but i know it wasnt his fault, things like this happen i guess but nobody wants them to. We are going to head out again to our glassing spot sometime next week and hopefully if hes alive still be able to spot him and get the job done. I'll keep everybody posted and hopefully i'll have some good news next week. Until then wish me luck and the same to everybody who has a tag left. mark

amanda.......im going to nau and want to major in wildlife management....if you or anybody else can give me any info towards that that would be great....thank you mark like what classes i need, what i should expect when i get there...etc

im also going to be a junior this year.....i spent 2 years at a junior college playing baseball and getting my associates...now that its out of the way i can focus on my major...i really dont know exactly what jobs the game and fish offer, can you guys throw a few that i might be interested in my way.......and off the subject im going to take my guiding license test at game and fish...if any of you younger guys would like to work with me and maybe make a little money during the hunting seasons that would be awesome...i honestly have no clue how to start a guiding service...but i do know how to find coues deer...so thats a start right...ahaha...thanks for helping me out everybody mark

the job that im going for is a game and fish warden....im sure it requires a degree in biology...i read that i need to take a year of lawenforcement classes also...i just love to be outdoors and i think i would enjoy the job...but reading the classes i need to get there kinda scares me...im not sure how much they make but from what i hear its not to good....hopefully it will pay off in the long run... mark

i heard of a buck shot out of the fresnal canyon area a couple of days ago that scored 103. you should try over there if you can....good luck hunting mark
