I consider alligators as big game! That is super awesome! But sad about the horse. -

I am super jealous of those who grew up hunting. I was the age most of you were when my dad made me read a math book. Oh the horrible memories! I was 26 when the first hunt I ever witnessed was my own. My husband fell asleep glassing and I got my first cow. Late left over tag, all by myself. Still my favorite hunt to this day. A month later I got a spike mule deer. -

Thanks for all the great knowledge and advice! I can't wait to have a high number of years of hunting like everyone here. I have only been hunting 5 years and that was only 4 hunts and 2 kids born as well. So I have so much to learn. This hunt will be so fun because the kids will be with their grandparents. . First break in 3 years. My husband knows a wallow in the unit and talked about putting a camera up, so we will do that this weekend or at least hike around some spots. And he has a flying machine so we will do that a bit closer to the hunt. I had chased that bull for over an hour and the cedars were so thick that I was basically always behind some. The bull was up a slight angle and in other trees when I saw him and he saw me move and walked with in 40 yards. But stopped with the tree between us. I thought he would keep walking but instead he went back the way he came. Never again will I not try. I hate that "what if." Also my husband will be there to take turns calling with me and I want to be super good at calling. I wonder if I called too much and so the Bulls knew something was up.

Thanks guys! I never thought to rake a tree. I was shaking so bad hearing them bugle that close to me. This year I hope to have my act together.

Swivel head My husband's friends had unit 27 hunts the last 2 years and the rut never really hit until after the hunt was over. Same with my hunt last year in 3b. Even though they were bugling and everything. I just hope this year is better.

I just joined yesterday and I read it in the night while I took care of my baby and toddler. I just have so much to learn before my hunt.

Haha... I have to get use to this... Thanks, I guess at times it sucks to not have the Internet! Pictures are so fun to see!

using the desktop site, not mobile version, when starting a new thread you should see a button below that says choose file. Click that then find the pic you want and click attach file. then click add to post to insert it where you want. if replying to a thread click more options on the quick reply box and that will take you to the same screen where you will find the choose file button

And how do you add pictures?

I had 3b last year which I am so glad to have been exposed to as a first rut hunt. even though I didn't get one I learned enough to make this hunt even better. What did you hunt in Africa?

Wow... I never realize how much fun it will be to hunt with my own kids. And not just packing them along, lol. My kids are almost 3 and the other will be a year old this year. My husband's favorite is when our daughter was 14 months old and we went to the strip for his archery tag. We dropped him off and he was able to get a mule deer. Around midnight I had our daughter in a pack on my front, two legs on my back and the other legs on a stick with us each holding an end. It was over a mile of super slow walking, but we made it.
