How much just for the rifle without scope and rings? -
Haven't been on this site for to long but best forum I've come across. I'm usually in fishing mode right now but sold my boat before my son was born and haven't got around to buying a new one yet. Been saving for my 6a early archery tag! Used to be big into bass fishing when I was younger but been chasing Flatheads for 6+ years now. Had my guide license but becoming a father pushed that to the side for the time being but plan on guiding someday with my son. Just curious who all chases catfish when your not out in the woods? What's your biggest cat to date? Anyone fish tournaments as we have 6 or 7 throughout the year? Here's a couple of my decent cats I've caught in the last couple years.

ACCA had a tournament over the weekend. Was a good weekend minus the storm Friday evening. Took 2nd place over all, made enough to pay for the trip and pay for my up coming elk hunt. Next tournament will be out at Bartlett lake in October if anyone is interested.

These still available?

Had a little family vacation at the lake did a little catfishin. Managed a couple biggest was 27lbs.

Be better off at bartlett or pleasant for flatheads. I was at bartlett all weekend landed a couple 27 pounds was the biggest of the weekend.

Here's a couple more pics. For those who are asking about rigs, I use alot of different rigs depending on different factors but Carolina rig is my go to rig. Keep it simple. There anyone that would be interested on a guided trip if I did start guiding again?

I catch and release all my flatheads over 20lbs. I keep one every now and then under 20 as they taste better and my wife and step son love eating it. I'm not big on eating fish. All fish I catch get tagged and released as myself and a select few others have a permit to tag flatheads in pleasant and bartlett. I have tagged 70 + fish from 5 lbs up to 65lbs in bartlett. Catch and release will keep our water full of trophy flatheads but selective harvest is necessary for a healthy population as well. I've habe had 3 fish I've tagged caught already that have been reported and they are averaging 2 to 3 pounds a year growth. It's still early in on research but with that alone a 30lb flathead is around 10 years old. With more time and research I hope to find out how long a flat takes to get to 60lbs +. Hopefully I'll have time to start guiding again next year and share the love I have for catfishing. In the end we all wanna do what we love for a living right?

I'm colorblind and can see red fine in the store but out in the field it's invisible unless I have a dark backround. I use a niko that has a black reticle that I can see out to 500 yards no problem but haven't found one that I can see real clear out past that. I usually have someone find my range for me, but I haven't had to range past 120yards for a shot yet.

Here's some more pics. Might just have to go fishing this weekend now. Lol

Carp are easy to catch if you know what to look for. I use carp up to 5 or 6lbs. But what I've learned is they love carp but only certain times of the year. They'll take a gill any day of the year. So I try to fish with both and see what they are interested in at that time.
-
I use the biggest blue gills I can catch. And you don't need a boat to catch these. First and 3rd pic I caught those from shore.

I'll take it if you still have it. I'm 10 minutes from surprise and should be around this weekend. I'll send you a pm

You gonna be in phoenix any time soon?

I drew a 6a early archery bull tag. Just curious who I may run into out in the field as there are 775 tags. It's my first archery tag but plan on finding some quite areas if possible but sure I'm gonna run into a bunch of hunters throughout the 2 weeks. I plan on hunting the southern part of the unit as everyone that I've talked to says the northern portion gets hammered. Good luck to everyone that got drawn and hopefully meet some of you out in the field!

Dave did you hunt around that waterhole I seen you And Dan at while I was out with brady scouting for deer? Pretty sure that was 2011
-
I'll be scouting come closer to the hunt. I have a couple friends going with that have hunted it, one had the tag the last 2 years and tagged out both years. So I plan on doing my own scouting but have a couple options already without scouting. I'd like to kill a nice bull but don't wanna be chasing the same bull that 6 other guys are after. I plan on putting some miles on my boots and spending the night out in the field if I have too.

Falconry and rabbit fields

I had her free flying on day 11. Usually takes 3 to 4 weeks but I spent every avail minute I had working with her since I trapped her. And I varies from bird to bird and species. -

a long process. Gotta do alot of reading on falconry and biology of raptors. Then you have to pass the exam with 80% or better, then find a General or master falconer that will sponsor you for 2 years. Then get all your equipment and build you mew and get it inspected and approved by game and fish. Then get a permit to trap your bird. You can also buy one but almost every sponsor will make you trap and train one. That's when the real fun begins. -
Josh with Desert edge taxidermy. He's out in waddell. This year's deer is the first one he's doing for me. He's got both of my buddy's deer and buffalo. He does really good work. Next time I'm over there I'll get some pics of his work.

I got a couple friends that fly Harris hawks. My friend that I hawk with all the time sent his over to his uncles but got out and wouldn't come back as she was fat for the molt. Most I've flown with is 5 harris together. It's pretty cool to watch but can get a little out of hand when they get a rabbit down. -
Chris I couldn't find any dogs till 4 days after I shot him and had rained. They said the dogs wouldn't have been any use.
