Just upgraded my 15 year old hoyt ultra Tec to a pro defiant 34. Finally drew another archery bull tag so I decided what the heck. My old bow had a tm hunter style rest and killed many animals. Debating a whisker biscuit because of no moving parts but a drop away will shoot better as long a no malfunctions. Opinions would greatly be appreciated. Thanks!

Many elk have been killed with a .243 including some in my family. I do not recommend it but it will do the job with good shot placement. I load 100gr sierra Spitzer bowtails and they have done the job on cow elk for the youth hunters in my family that chose to use that. 243

I knew this would come one day. I am not against cameras or people who use them to scout. I do not use them only cause my personal opinion is having something scout for me while sitting at home is not my cup of tea. But like I said I am not against cameras for those of you who use them.

Oh yeah I always have a spare release in my pack.

I'm just going to shoot both a whisker and a drop away and make my decision. Both my kids shoot biscuits and love them. Kids being 16 and 21 years old.

I really appreciate the input! The last thing I need on an early archery bull tag is a rest malfunction. I will try the qad I think and buy a biscuit for a back up rest.

I saw a nitrum turbo in the classifieds. Awesome bow if you can handle the draw cycle of a turbo -
Is the leupold still available. I have a buddy who is interested

Yes it is. They should at least give you the number. Doesn't mean he/she has to tell you Where the elk are but general info woul be nice.

Good shooting bow! If I didn't just buy a pro defiant I would all over it.

Great gun. Speaking of 870s I just sent my son's back to remington for the 3rd time. Not reliable at all. My old 870 is flawless.

Look on the bright side world record bull and the best backstraps you will ever taste!

Just start with the easy stuff first. Check vacuum lines and adjust and clean the carb. You can spray carb cleaner around vacuum lines and carb base with it running if you spray something with vaccum and the idle raises there's your problem. Then go further and check plugs and wires

Also check you vaccum lines going to the carburetor and change the fuel filter which is probably inline

Clockwise on the base idle screw bumps the base idle up. Counter bumps it down

There are 2 little bleeder valves on top on each side of the carb. Left and right in front of the butterfly. They get hummed up. Take a small piece of wire and clear them. Then start the truck and let it warm up. There are 2 mixture screws on the from of the carb. Turn them clockwise one at a time until it stumbles then go counter clockwise until it smoothes out. Do this to each screw. If not they are easy to rebuild

Nice! -
Never thought I would say this. I bought a hoyt pro defiant 34. That being said I may put a whisker biscuit on it. With an archery bull tag I don't want any failures with a drop away. Opinions. I upgraded from a 2004 hoyt ultra Tec with a tm hunter double prong rest.
