Awesome bull. I came home empty in 5bsouth by choice. Hunted the whole season. Passed lots of small bulls didn't see a bull like that. Good job!

I have passed a lot of small bulls in 5bsouth. Backs are pretty weak. Still here. Small bulls herding cows and hardly any bugling during shooting light. A couple of decent mornings but they are quiet by 7am. Drove from long lake area to Turkey mountain. Started at 2am and heard nothing. Crazy!

In 5bsouth. Passed a 5x5 on the opener. 83 degrees. They are going nuts all night. Get on em in the morning get set up and call for my daughter and they get farther away in a hurry. Sitting water in the evenings hoping to get lucky and nothing has come in yet. Oh and my dad passed a spike at 15yds Saturday morning

Went scouting this weekend again in 5bsouth. Pretty rough getting into my honey hole which is why it's so good. Got to my road to get in there. Azgfd sign " No motorized vehicles beyond this point". Went around the backside to come in from north to south same thing. Looks like I'm walking 2.8 miles in now. Although this will make it even better it will be a heck of a pack out. Darn it. I have my dad with me who can't walk that far any longer and he was so dissapointed. I'll have to figure something out for him.

They are talking a little hear and there. It's still early. It should pick up by the 2nd week of the hunt. If not spit and stalk or get lucky on water until it hopefully kicks in.

I have hunted unit 21 since I was a little kid. A 150 to 160 inch 4x4 should not be a problem on this hunt. Pm me if you want some scouting info. But in my opinion unit 21 has a whitetail population now that is ridiculous. The whitetails are all the way down to new river now.

Talked to Game and fish. I cannot drive in there to retrieve my elk so if we get one in there we will bring the pack frames and get it out of there.

Well, I'm going to follow the rules. I'll set my dad on some water that has been productive. My daughter has a tag with us also and is pumped so bottom line is we will put the miles on our boots if need be. Hey we have an early archery bull tag and we are going to have fun regardless. My daughter has 8 days to hunt and dad and I have the whole hunt so we should be able to get it done. Good luck everyone I hope everyone that has tags has a good hunt!

May be forest service. Not blaming game and fish but the white signs on the gates both had game and fish logos on them. Like I said it will just make it better hunting for me cause I have no problem hiking in. Less pressure means more elk and probably better bulls.

We will make due and improvise. Mountain bike and trailer has crosses my mind. It rained hard yesterday and it was horribly muddy it took me 5 hours to go 7miles in my truck and almost didn't get out but my buddy is letting me use his ranger for the hunt so that will help me get back in there a little quicker. Gonna see if I can get a hold of game and fish and ask if I can drive around the gate and in only if I have an elk down.

It is probably the clamp. My suggestion is find a shop with a hooter shooter. Have them put the cord from the rest between the cables and pull the rest cord until the rest comes all the way up and then serve the cord into the cable's. If not try a limb driven rest like a hamskea.

I remember on a 7west archery elk hunt I built a blind on a water hole way back in there that had a wallow on it. I came back a week later on a scouting trip and I guy put his Stand above my blind and a note in my blind that said reserved for the archery elk season meaning his Stand. I was pissed. I actually ran into him and he was a nice guy and we talked and agreed that it was 1st come first serve. We agreed we were hiking in the same way and we would put a marker of some sort at the beginning of the walk to signify if one of us was already in there and if we saw that we would back out.

I have hunted 5bsouth for a lot of years. When I don't have a tag I always help someone on this hunt. You will not have a problem finding elk even if they are not vocal. Last year was very good especially the second week. Oh and stay out of the cedars there are no bulls there. LOL! GOOD luck on your hunt.

I have the early archery tag this year. Seeing lots of bulls. To me antler growth looks pretty good. Getting close should be an action packed hunt.
