You tell me, how timely is this rain?

I was up in 23, saw quite a bit of grass- more than I am used to seeing. Hoping the summer is to these areas.

    Weird deaths!

So to be clear ... You are not French and this is not you ? Last I heard there was about 100k being offered to give this guy up ... wonder if he is still out there kicking squirrels ? https://youtu.be/SIXGEj9nwLw Haha, nope. I was about 13 at the time. Far more accidental than that. That's awful.

    Wild Flowers!

    Incredible variety. Thank you!
  8. I had a great time taking my kids out to Horton Creek for some exercise and further introduction to the wonderful out doors. Every time I go out with them, it reminds me that I should do it more often. We started out at the Horton Creek trailhead outside of Payson. I live in Gilbert, and it is exactly 2 hours, door to trailhead. Perfect for kids between 3 and 10. Level ground, water, beautiful views. Look closely at one of the pics, it is wet on one side, and dry on the other. That is because the stream disappears into the ground. You could actually hear a draining sound- it was cool, and the kids loved it. I also ran into the biggest wasp I have ever seen. Oh, and caught a little stock rainbow in the process (we threw it back). It was a great day.

Horton Creek Hike with my Kids

Wait, are these the ones that bite the tarantula, then lay its eggs on it body- slowing feeding them?

  13. Besides craigslist, anyone know of a good spot to pickup pre-owned hunting equipment? I have a couple of guys on my hunt that won't have a frame pack, tripod, and other basic items. Obviously not looking for top of the line stuff- just serviceable.
  14. Yes, thank you for sharing the pictures. Great shots.

    Tag arrived today

That's an option, but then I'd worry about the kids getting into it, or me misplacing my pack. I did what any married man with a smarter 1/2 did: give it to my wife.

    Tag arrived today

Checked the mail. I spent two minutes game planning where to put my tag for safe keeping.

    Elk in Unit 22 South

With an recommendation from the national forest service, I found this link that shows where rainfalls have been. Interesting to see that last years rain was fairly good. http://water.weather.gov/precip/

    Wood Fired Pizza Oven

How many of you out there have a pizza oven? I built one a couple of years back, and it produces some incredible pizzas, as well as some absolutely amazing steaks. High heat, great meat right? Anyways, AJ's is having a sale on meats right now, where all of their good stuff is 1/2 off. I picked up a couple prime filet mignons and grilled them up tonite. Memorable flavor. wow.
