Rios were included last year and have been included since those units were opened. I figured Jim hooked you up! As for how many cards are left, I'll have to get an accurate count and get back to you. Most our chapter's deck remains, though. As long as 10 is an open unit per commission orders, its a valid unit for the commissioner's tag. I may have to get a few more cards then. the turkey tag the arizona big game super raffle raffles is Gould's or Merriam's only and I want the so called Arizona Rio.

I did not know that included the Rio I don't believe it did last year. I believe you already sold me 5 cards one of which is the winner through Jim at the banquet. How many cards are remaining? One day I'll go after that Royal Slam!

I believe they hold turkey hunting seminars at the Sportsman's in Tucson try to attend and learn to use a box or pot call. I already have young hunters I am mentoring or I would help, I have scouted 1/27 exstensively and can point you toward birds keep in touch and good luck.

Toms are gobbling but all I'm seeing is bachelor groups and hens without gobblers should change very soon if not already.

nice thanks for the tease.

good luck. I have never hunted the early season either looking forward to hearing how your hunt went.

great stuff Ammon, like the fact you sent your call around the country to test and have it signed keep up the good work.

Great video of the use of DSD decoys for archery turkey, really like the head shot and the two hunts you doubled up on thanks for sharing.

Turkey Hunting and Calling Seminar Friday April 8th 6PM at Mesa Sportsman's

Looks like I'll be scouting a 3rd unit. -
I really like going to seminars too and it is always my goal when going to learn something new. Everyone has a little different style of hunting and there is always something to learn. I have been to lots locally and to a bunch back at the NWTF convention. Presenters from Marvin Robbins, Rich Williams, Jay Scott and others locally to Will and Jimmy Primos , Knight & Hale, Mossy Oak’s Cuz Strickland, Michael Waddell, Eddy Salter, Ray Eye and others. The local ones are full of great information and are just as good as the ones back at nationals. My favorites were Marvin Robbins before he died and Cuz Strictland. Anyways I wish I could make the DCA one this year but Tuesday nights and not good for me and Cabelas on Friday afternoon I will be across town at work. Bill, you and Jim need to get together and do one up in Show low or Lakeside and I will be sure and make it. Funny you should ask I sent a text to Jim this morning asking if we are going to do one this year, but we're not sure if Sportsman's is going to have one. If I didn't live so darn far I would go to all three of the seminars in the valley.

This is not a rock but here is a picture of an old ore bucket I helped my dad (so he says I don't remember it) roll out of an old mine back in the 50's down around Lochiel.

Thanks CT if you go away just learning one thing it worth your time.

I won't make it to this one hopefully Ammon comes up to Show Low to do a seminar otherwise learn all you can so you can teach me something. If you are counting on me to teach you something, we are both in a lot of trouble. you better invite Ammon along then otherwise we'll just shoot them out of the roost. that statement will get some (excuse the pun) tail feathers ruffled. -

DSD are the best and I use the same combo and added the submissive hen last year.
-
Good question I have never just used a jake decoy by itself. I don't believe it hurts especially if you have a hen with the jake. I typically don't use decoys (i like to depend on my calling skills) unless I'm hunting with a youth or archery hunting, i use a combination of upright hen, submissive hen and jake.

I'll be taking some youth's in that area on the youth hunt April 15th and will let you know where I'm seeing them.
