    Edge-- Great ingenuity! I have a gift certificate to phone skope so I just need to figure out which model. My last iphone4 made it 2.5 years in a case before I knocked if off the bench at the range the day after I took it out of a case.

     

    According to the website it seems that there is a polycarbonate case that you put your phone into and then it attaches by the adaptor to your glass. I'm going to get the non-lifeproof model; and just keep my phone in the skope case during the hunt since I normally put my phone into a small pelican case anyways for emergencies only.

    Guys,

     

    Planning to get a phone skope adapter for my Razor HD 16-48x65 straight. I have an iphone6 with lifeproof case but I'm concerned about the distance between the lens and the spotter and the resolution of the photos.

     

    Does anyone have experience with this combo and how did the pics through the lifeproof, then through the phone skope turn out?

    +3 for the 209 loose powder. Way more consistent velocity and its much easier to find what load your muzzy likes. For bullets I would look no further than Harvester. They are made in the USA and have a variety of types for light skinned game (Scorpion PT Gold) up to Elk and thicker skinned game. They have a patented sabot that uses 50% less surface area so it loads much easier and leaves much less fouling behind while keeping a gas seal over the powder. You can order direct from them.

     

    if you need extra parts like breech plugs, ramroads etc then I order off cheaper than dirt.

    Danm223- Not hunting solo as of right now. Planning to drive in and meet an army buddy and his dad who has the same tag. Not sure how long they will be hunting for. I took leave for the whole season and then some, to make sure I have time to scout/get a plan; so we can definitely try to link up or at least share up to date info.

     

    lamrith-- I have 10x40 Viper HDs and I am bringing a spotter. Seems like the majority favor the middle ground with 15x binos, which for a good pair will be over the budget you listed but will probably be invaluable on the hunt. If you have a cabelas nearby I scour their bargain cave for optics deals and there have been some good ones in the classifieds on here as well.

    The zeiss conquest and conquest HD5 nice glass but they are a 1" tube and you have a 30mm already with the Vortex. Are you looking for more magnification or a different reticle? I would look at the Vortex HSLR 4-16x50--- they have a 50mm obj, front focal plane and 30mm tube. Sort of the best of both worlds. If you have to have higher magnification I would go with a Leupold VX6 4-24x52.

    Right on, like oneshot said, Thanks for your service, there are alot of military / law enforcement guys on here it seems and this is the best hunting forum I've been on regardless of species and location. The willingness to share info and help each other is awesome!

     

    Since I'll be out and about your way later this fall I will let you know how things go and hopefully provide some extra insight since this is both of our first time on Coues!

    x3 for Buckhorn 209 powder, more consistent and accurate than pellets.

     

    I am not a fan of the large cal SST bullet at all. I have killed several whitetail in NC, KY and OK with them and had poor expansion, still resulted in fatal wounds but negligible blood trails. All animals were recovered.

     

    I would suggest looking at Harvester Bullets and Sabots.... Made in America (KY) and they have several styles from the lighter jacketed Scorpion to heavier, thick skinned game bullets. The low friction Sabots are amazing. They provide a perfect gas lock but because of the ribs you have 50% less surface area (friction) going down the bore, much less fouling etc.

    Drew 34A in OCT for WT!! Very excited for this hunt and thankful for all those who have provided guidance and insight for the draw and hunt preparation. I will likely have many questions to follow and will continue my nightly reading here on the forum.

    They are starting to update things!

     

    I'm in KY and just logged in to my account. This was my first year applying and first year to buy a license in AZ. Nothing at all reflected on my profile for the last two weeks but I can see my 'non-resident license' today so I hope they update the tags sometime today. Just waiting to see what tag I drew...

    308nut-- I went with H4350 and 210m as recommended with a 140gr Amax-- going to try to test next week if able or at least get rounds loaded. I noticed a number of powders in the Nosler and Hornady manual that cross over to the 25/06 and .338 win mag... which I own and R19 was a common denominator so I picked up a pound.

     

    Any experience with this in 6.5x284 and heavier bullets? All the data for it is 100-120gr.
