    Public Land Long Beard Down!!

LOL. The Tiburon pants were luckily in my 'big game bin' which I moved myself. The top was brand new purchase for my turkey road trip.... And as a bonus-- the movers called this afternoon and they are coming tomorrow... but apparently didn't get the note or 3 phone calls that an 18 wheeler won't fit into my 'hood. So we will see how this adventure goes. If all goes well I will be in Oklahoma by Friday and then KY and MO.... AL sadly will be a wash this year:/

    28 Nosler 30 Nosler 33 Nosler

I think firstcoueswas80 has a 28nosler that he has worked with quite a bit. I have a 7RUM- which has been as hard to find brass for as I first expected because lots of guys are jumping up to the 28 nosler.

Camera Land brings you Big News from Leupold

They certainly do make a 4-24 in the older VX6 and the new 6HD. I've seen the older model 4-24x going for $13-1400 bucks. I have the vx6 2-12 fire dot duplex on my .338wm and so far so good! I can't really consider the older VX6 because you only get 13 MOA out of the CDS dial which doesn't get past 750 yards for me. The new ones give two revolutions which is nice but they are still behind the times. 13 moa? The old vx-6 is 18 or 20 moa per revolution. My two don't have a zero stop and I believe I run out at 43 moa. My 270 WSM's is dialed in to 1200 yds with an old vx-6. I do have a new vx-3i that runs out at 13.5 moa. DSE-- I stand corrected--- I was thinking of the 3i... I spent last weekend looking at LOTS of glass trying to make a decision on a scope for my 7RUM. The new VX6HD I think does only get two REVs because of that pop out indicator.

Camera Land brings you Big News from Leupold

I think Leupold had two big, "Swing and Miss" this season. 1. VX3i LRP-- For the price it really doesn't compete well within it's weight class. Fewer features, big goofy elevation turret, 5 mil per turn, same old 3x mag ranges... I think the XTRII, maybe even Veracity and definitely the PST Gen II are going to doom this before it even gets started. It's nice they finally offered an FFP not in the Mk series :/ 2. VX5-- Lack of higher magnification ranges, limited reticle choices for long range hunting/shooting (unless you get custom shop involved). They did at least give you 2 revolutions on the dials. And I believe the Mk4 line is now discontinued so why not offer an FFP model of the VX5HD or VX6HD?

    Density Altitude / Station Pressure

    Great find!
  10. Lance- two thoughts 1. 178 eld-x- good compromise between velocity and energy 2. Swarovski Z5 w/ BT -- keeps the reticle and dialing simple for someone who won't be intimately familiar with the set up. Pretty good bang for your buck from a $1200ish scope. I think you'd be able to dial to 700ish.

    Arrow setup for Elk

Never shot VAPs, I have shot several varieties of Black Eagle and I absolutely love their microdiameter shafts. I think it is hard to beat their Deep Impact; minimize wind drift, but a nice heavy shaft at 11gpi (300 spine). Obsession Defcon M7 29"/73lb Deep Impact 300 2" blazers 125gr Slick Tricks or 125gr Swhacker
