    Your Thoughts??? (pic)

I have to agree with those in the saying 105 - 109 range ...... I do not think he would pass the 110 mark but there is no way he is under 100 ....

190" coues killed in southern AZ?!?!?

horns look pixelated af. you do realize that all digital imaging devices from CCD to CMOS use digital pixels and interpolation to create a digital image .... Lighting and exposure settings combined with the type and quality of the camera can create pixels and artifacts most would think point to an altered picture ... for those claiming lack of shadows you really should look closer as there are many varied shadows throughout that seem proper and within similar gradients that would reflect a natural light source .... Could it be faked of course, but from what I see IMO it is not ... Granted there seem to be more CSI worthy experts on this site than myself ...

190" coues killed in southern AZ?!?!?

Let see... the drag mark in dirt from nose the fresh dusted dirt from where the guy stood while turning kicking up the ear and leaving imprint in boot track... the shadow of two tines casting up the boot .... all indicators that it is not photo shopped! Still always going to have those jealous haters putting doubt on everything they see .. Could it be fake , certainly ... But digital cameras have a way of making things look out of whack sometimes... I am sure all of us are Envious at the thought of a buck like this being taken , but that does not mean time should not be given for a story to come out , because if it was taken this year a story will most certainly come out ...

    Camper Shell for F250

Yeah SPOT measuring is always best ... but I am pretty certain that measurements would not be an issue ... the only issue may be the tailgate upper trim as there was a change made around 2009 ... but even with that you should be able to get it to work and seal tight ....

    iPad,topo and goggle earth

Other than screen size of an Ipad.... I find that the Garmins with The OnXmaps HUNT chip and then downloading and using Birdseye view through basecamp and layerd works well for getting the satatlite image of what you are hunting .... can easily be truned on and off as well on your garmin... this combo gives you the most extensive layers and details including BLM ( private land ownership) , Hunting units ... and satalite view....you will not get entire state for Birdseye on your GPS but should be able to get most of your unit ....

Not going to turn this into a pissing match... if your argument is that a calorie is a calorie ( negating the reality of empty calories ) then you are correct in stating that in weight loss the calories are equal... the nurtitional benifits are not equal... The rate of cumsuption by the body is not equal.... The metabolic rate as which one is converted to energy is not equal.... as far a timing it comes down to what the body needs to maximize the output while maintaining and rebuilding any muscle during any activity level... Body uses energy constantly simple carbs covert quick and are used first .. complex carbs take longer but can give adequite energy quickly enough.... Body runs out of quick energy for the activity it goes to stored energy A.K.A Fat.... body uses stored energy up and to the point that it is repelnished with more easily converted energy ( such as that plate of Pasta.... If it runs out of Stored energy and is not being replenished it breaks down muscle .... That is why individuals with a large fat reserve can eat at a deficit and both lose Fat Weight while gaining muscle through strrength training... especially when feeding enough protein to feed the repairing of muscle... Now that does not ever mean that a person is making the same kinds of gains as in eating in surplus with more strength training , but it does allow for both fat loss and small gains while losing... heck even the digestion of the food itself has different caloric burn rates a process that is always happening as he body converts to energy and absorbs neccessary nutrients .... You ar enot going to go do months of strength training without feeding your body protein nor should you starve it of the quick energy to help fuel the process but I do not think most are using Twinkies to fuel their workout .. If you do that is awesome

You are wrong on saying that simple cabs from Twinkies and Complex carbs from fruits and vegetables are the same ... You are right on the concept of macros and calories in versus out is the only real key to weight loss, but to deny the way ones body breaks downs and utilizes and stores energy in the form of fat and from what sources those calories are derived and have much to do with the type of activity levels and time of activity levels versus caloric intake.... Balanced macros from all sources is of course ideal, but to neglect the process of metabolism and how ones organs break down varied caloric intake is just as much quackery IMO... All I will say is balance balance balance and balanced macros can be achieved with a low carb ( mostly made of complex carbs ) with higher amounts of fat and lean proteins ...

    Monday Check in

Did not reach my weight goal prior to the hunt .... and been plateaued in the 240 -245 range the last month .... The hunt came and just being down that 70 lbs made hitting the hills 3 - 5 miles a day so much easier ... The steep stuff was no problem and even had my 16 year old son telling me I worked up the steep stuff too fast asking me to slow down, of course this would not have been the case a year ago... The hunt did drop me below that plateau as I lost 7 lbs over a week of hard hunting ... Passed up many small bucks in the process and just could not get on any of the quality bucks we had seen weeks prior ...My son did well not complaining once and often optimistic about pushing further , No Buck on his first hunt but he was happy with it knowing he let that fork and spikes hopefully make it to another season... By next season the plan is to push further and pack heavier including bags and Bivys!

    a pistol

And so you have it from the regs.. here you go A.R.S. 17-305 Possession of other weapons while hunting; violation; classification A. The possession of legal weapons, devices, ammunition or magazines, which are not authorized to take wildlife, is not prohibited while hunting if the weapon or device is not used to take wildlife. B. Taking wildlife by using a weapon, device, ammunition, or magazine that is not authorized to take wildlife is a class 1 misdemeanor. and by the way a center fire pistol is legal for taking all game except Buffalo (Raymond herd) and of course can not be used to take drawn for big game game during a muzzle loader or archery hunts ( you can still take other non tag species if in season during your archery hunt such as rabbit and coyote)

    a pistol

Wondering WTH sjvcon is saying is wrong .... A license is all that is needed to take small game not a tag ... A pistol can be carried at anytime for protection or hunting small game .... TO CYA make sure you have a license and you will not have any trouble ...

Is this a legit way to hunt?

Blaze IMO the coues hunters are far worse, I have been on coues hunts where I have seen the worst of it and often by long range shooters ... I have seen 4 guys unload and reload on small buck shooting right up to a hunter glassing on the ridge above where it was bedded they fired off over 20 shots every time the buck was moving up and getting closer to the hunter .. If I seen him I am sure they did too... He hustled of the hill and knocked the biggest guy in the group out with one punch then drew his sidearm and continued to unload verbally on them... It was not a buck he was interested in but the proximity to him those guys should have never been shot ... He told the young guys to go get their buck and me and my buddy worked to the group in time to hear him tell the dad that he was going to working the area throughout the hunt and if he seen them even close in his glass they would be seeing rocks exploding around them ... Same unit far different area were on some bucks at night fall , returned to glass the next morning but only got a few hundred yards from road so we could get a wider look and relocate them in the numerous draws, well we found them about 600-700 yards a couple ridges over, but while glassing we seen that a hunter coming from the other direction was glassing them up and putting a stalk on them ...We decided to just stay put and watch and see if he was successful and where the rest of the group of 5 bucks went when he was done... He was within about 400 yards and working up closer when the biggest buck stood up, under the tree he stood out like a sore thumb and was easily seen without binoculars. It was at that time a truck stopped on the road and a hunter decided to shoot the 1000 yard shot.. The guy on the stalk stood up waving blaze orange , the guy in the trucks friend was saying something and pointing to the other hunter when the guy with the gun let his shot rip hitting the buck but only wounding him... The hunter at that point unloaded his firearm sending all 5 bucks scrambling and running over steep nasty terrain... At that point we headed down to our truck and the guys off the shoulder of the road telling them how screwed up that was for them to do. We told them we knew they were aware of the other hunter stalking them, even the shooters buddy acknowledged we were right. The guy stalking worked his way down quick shouting and cussing right to them pissed telling them to have fun trying to locate that wounded buck now as he walked off ! So when you say carp hunters in reference to ethics and respecting others .. I have seen way worse on my coues hunts and way more than anyone should see and most of it in 36b ..

Is this a legit way to hunt?

Pretty messed up situation but not surprising ... I expect to see hunters and often they make an honest mistake but this does not sound like the case in your situation... I have twice experienced what I think is a bit worse than that down south, when having bullets coming overhead from long distance shooters who knew I was between them and the deer they attempted to shoot .. I make it a point to make others see me by standing flashing a mirror in their direction or putting my orange up ... Both times I was acknowledged by waves so I know they knew I was there... both times it was deer coming over the ridge line and moving to bed in the shade below.. both times multiple shots were fired and missed sending the bucks running for broke. I would have much rather the hunters worked to me and discussed how they intended to hunt the area ... I was only able to have words with one of the groups. the group was 6 guys, 2 hunters being guided... I told them if they shoot over my head again I was going to shoot back aiming right at them and say it was self defense as my life felt threatened... that group broke and moved their camp that night and I did not see any of the hunters or vehicles the entire rest of the hunt down in 36B.

    Friendy coues doe

In 36B years ago on one of our first trips down there my brother had a doe and fawn feed right up to him the closer they got had him tucking himself tighter to the tree he was using for shade while glassing... They fed right to him to the point they began smelling his boots. It was about then he sneezed and they jumped back about 10 yards but did not leave .. The doe and fawn started blowing through their noses and worked right back to him ... I watched from across the ridge for a while until he decided he had enough and stepped out from the tree sending the white flags up and dust trails flying away from him ... Was cool to see !
  24. Awesome Buck !!!! can not wait to hear more about your adventures getting him
