I am researching a couple new units that have had multiple burn areas in the bast 10 years and was wondering which burns would be my best burn for my time this year. My expectation is to visit them all eventually. Would burns in the past 1-3 years or 3-5 years or older burns be my best bet? Do you find more animals in the more recent burns or are they preferring a couple years before hammering those areas? What are you experiences and thoughts?

Just wanted to get some experiences about hunting burn areas. After a burn has happened what is the best years to hunt them? I am researching some new areas that have burns over the last 7-8 years. Would you focus your scouting trips on older burns in the 5-6 year range or 3-5 year range or 1-3 year old burns to utilize the best new foliage or recovering burn areas in different stages? Eventually I expect to investigate all of them but in the short term what is going to be my best bang for the buck? What are your thoughts?

I agree and it seems nothing but bad comes out of California. We do need to be careful and work together to keep what we have now. It will be interesting to see when the cats overpopulate and start eating their beloved cats and small dogs. Maybe then it will be ok to remove a few. But then again maybe the cats will have to kill a human before they decide to do something like they did with the Mtn Lion ban. Who knows hold on to your shorts and see what happens next.

Hyperwrx, I am going to get my trappers license soon and hopefully be ready to go for next year. I am hoping some of you experienced trappers would be interested in assisting a newbie to trapping like me. I live in northern AZ and plan on trapping there. Would you be interested in assisting me getting my feet on the ground and running? If not, is there someone who could on this site?

That is quite the memories you have made for your family and it is great that you had your girls with you. Now that you have had some time to let it all sink in, will you be doing anything different in the event it happens again? I am still waiting for my first called in lion with my boys.
