Glad I am not a Lobo fan. I won't waste my money on them. The only thing going for them was "The Pit", which thanks to sell out for the almighty $ is now called "Wise Pies Arena".

I do the gutless to get quarters and back strap off as quick as possible. Then I open the cavity to get loins, heart and liver. Don't forget the neck meat makes great chili meat.

If you did that at my house today it would be feeding the Polar Bear.

Sucks. My card now has the chip and if the company swipes it or uses the numbers rather than the chip they are responsible. We did have our Discover card hit somehow but we have alerts set up so when the password was reset 10 times about 1am we cancelled the card. Found out new cards had been requested to be sent to Houston.

First year, first lion..called in long read
Red Sparky replied to nighthawk's topic in Mountain Lion
Great story but you are slacking. My wife and I were together for 10 years before we got married. So we always joke that this year it will be 28 together with 18 being "legal". -
Never had any noise out of Slick Tricks. I hear string go thump slightly and then an almost immediate thwack from hitting the target. I need to go run speed through the chronograph as I have no idea how fast the arrows are traveling. Last time I checked with a 100 grain field point two years ago it was around 285fps. I did have to have a new string put on and they were hitting about 2" lower than field points but in a vertical line so I moved D-loop down slightly and fixed the problem.

Worth buying a pellet gun or hold out for a shotgun?
Red Sparky replied to cwnova's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Also don't rule out the pawn shops or the used gun rack at the gun stores. About 20 years ago I got an Ithaca Mod. 51 Featherlight with a 28" vent rib barrel in excellent condition for $150 out the door. It is good for upland birds and rabbits/squirrels but not for waterfowl or turkey. -
I would not trust a power belt in a hunting situation and here is why. I was sent some power belts to try and leave feedback on. This was back when they were fist coming out and they shot great. A five shot group, 1 1/2" at 100 yards from sandbags, 4" low and 4" left of where I had my XTP's sighted in for. I loaded one and went "rabbit hunting" with it to practice before hunting season. After a day of bumping around walking, climbing hills, etc. just like a deer hunt I was going to empty the load by firing it but I put the ramrod down the barrel first. The bullet had moved about 1/2" forward in the barrel during that day of walking. Yes I mark my ramrods with the load I am shooting. This has never happened to me with a sabot that takes some force down the barrel. Seemed to me to be unsafe and would create an obstructed barrel. I reseated it and fired it off without a problem. I have no idea on bullet performance outside of target shooting but for me this experience makes me question them. I don't know if they have made them better grip the barrel so this would not happen.

Man it was fun but no 10 pages. Guess I will have to go to Archery Talk or Bowsite as there are some 50 pagers going there and easier to rile up people . Sorry Tres as I didn't think it was you but I did use your words. Didn't mean to imply it was you. Let me get my lawyer ready for when I get sued for copyright infringement -
Land owners and the future of hunting in NM
Red Sparky posted a topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I read in the paper today (ABQ Journal) the NM Dept. of Taxation and Revenue is sending letters to landowners for not paying gross receipts tax. The whole point is the landowner authorizations for elk hunting that landowners sell for tags. These allocations are given by G&F in recognition of the landowners efforts in managing elk and their habitat. They can either sell them to individuals, brokers, or outfitters. The outfitters are suppose to pay the gross receipts and give the landowners an exemption certificate showing they paid the gross receipts. The landowners are responsible for the gross receipts tax on any license they sold to individuals. Some of the landowners paid personal income tax from the selling of these licenses but not the gross receipts tax. Reading the article it was never explained they had to also pay gross receipts tax. Now Tax and Rev. is asking for several years back taxes for failure to pay. Most of the records are not going to be available. It is a big mess. I think either the landowners will shut off their land without any tags or it will all go to outfitters. I feel the price of hunting elk on private land is going to increase big time or completely stop. The worst case scenario is the landowners will not manage their land for elk anymore. That means the elk hunting here is going to go down in quality. With the big fight with the SLO I am wondering if somebody is trying to disrupt all hunting rights here. It seems kind of fishy that two state agencies are trying to cause a bigger fight between landowners and the G&F Dept., a third state agency. Thoughts or ideas? -

By another post it wasn't one you started. I know who you were thanking and why and I know which post it was in. As I said I used it to make things go HMMMMM. So if you are offended so sorry I might have hurt your feelings. So sorry if you have never played the game of Clue or know what a Red Herring is. By the way I don't care who it was. Now I have to go refill my popcorn. -

Red Sparky replied to azbirdhunter88's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Nice try. I've never hunted with or met azbirdhunter88. Jonesface and I went hunting that day. So, wrong guys bro. Never said you were the guys. If you know how to check post here is what was said, azbirdhunter88 said took a guy hunting over the weekend and showed "his" spot. Said he wasn't naming names implying they were on this site. Then during the week same hunter was back with other guys. So detective work starts. The post I copied from was on 11/27/15, the weekend before the original post. Then there is another post before this one and after the weekend post, or at least there was, about can't go out during the week as "I am the Weekend Warrior type". Not saying who made those post either but I bet I am not the only one who looked. Then you answer without any reference to you. -

Questions about "locked" gate near private land
Red Sparky replied to Richie's topic in The Campfire
They have done some of that over here in NM, specifically unit 9. The results were ranchers got the prime rib where the public land hunters just got to gnaw on the rib. -
