Um....Welcome to the New Mexico way of management for landlocked state land and private ranches. I feel sorry for you all as I know what is going to happen.

Yep land trades happen all the time. Look at the land trade here in NM by Mount Taylor where the ranchers got the cream and hunters were left with the hind tit. The other land trade that just happened here was 8800 acres were sold to Cochiti Pueblo so the SLO could buy a building in downtown Santa Fe for revenues. Sounds like a real good deal for hunters and other outdoor enthusiast that used those 8800 acres.

I agree with Denver D being tough but the only reason this did not go into overtime is Patriots had to go for the two point conversion due to the missed extra point in the first quarter. I told my B-I-L when it happened that that could be the difference in the game right there.

The thing I remember most from going to Carlsbad Caverns is the bat flight. They are cool critters.

Well the Cards took a game from the Broncos.......Get to the playoffs and choke. Manning is going to CHOKE big time in the Super Bowl so even though I have been a Bronco fan since the mid 70's I know better than to get my hopes up. Today I sure thought the Broncos were going to choke again at the end of the game.

24 hours of no movement and they start sending out a mortality/lost signal. Easier to have an alibi and reasonable doubt a week or two later rather than 24 hours.

All I will say is learn how to not make the collars go off right away.

What did I miss. It must have been locked and deleted?

It all depends on where you put in and weapon choice. Some hunts you are assigned to a ranch and some you are assigned to a unit and have to get permission to a ranch or hunt public land. I would say the majority of antelope are on private land here.

The worst thing that has happened to me walking in the dark is being dive bombed by an owl. If you run upon a skunk you can lead them with your flashlight. I have run into three of them and every time they will follow the flashlight, lead them a ways, turn off the light and run the other direction about 50 feet and you are good to go.

This is for NM and AZ may be different: Lawyer Vs. Paralegal. Lawyer has been to law school, has malpractice insurance, member of the bar. Paralegal has not been to law school, may not have insurance, not a member of the bar, all work must be checked by a lawyer. If a lawyer screws something up you have a good chance at recourse but maybe not with a paralegal. How do I know this? My wife specializes in Criminal Law, prosecutor for 10 years and defense for 7, so 17 years total law experience. Mainly felonies like murder, some misdemeanors and violent juvenile offenders. I am basically her administrative secretary in my off time. I spent 3 hours today scanning documents and putting them in electronic format. Tomorrow I will file them in the cabinets and create folders. Basically I am doing what a paralegal would do. She will not do a will and trust as she does not practice in that area. Now you can find a good attorney on an hourly or flat fee. To pay an attorney for one hour of work you are looking at around $250. It should not take 10 hours to do a will and trust for a good attorney. Half the time the attorney uses the paralegal and you are billed at a $75/hour fee rather than the attorney fee. Some have a flat fee depending on how involved the will/trust is. It also depends on the attorney. Here is what my parents did for my sister and I. We know what is to be "given/taken" by each of us. My parents have already sent quite a bit to us so we will not have to pay inheritance tax. Their house is in all our names so when they are gone my sister and I can either sell it and just pay the capital gains tax on it, from the appraisal when we were added. The other option is either sibling can "buy out" the other and use it as a rental or rent it together and split the monthly income 50/50. We went to an attorney here that is well versed in wills/trust.

Too bad on the caliber or I would drive down from LL to get it. I have 2 .270's already, one my grandfathers Remington model 721 that my Dad inherited and hunted with the whole time I was growing up and my Model 70.

I would go through an attorney, not just any attorney either. They are like Dr.'s and specialize in different aspects of the law so go to a wills and trust attorney.

Rage 3-blade broadhead SUCK!?!?!
Red Sparky replied to AZ_Native's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
You probably have the original heads. The knock offs are being sold online for way less so trying to save some $$$ you have a higher chance of getting a knock off. From what I understand is Rage has a sticker inside that the knockoffs don't. Also the blades seem subpar with nicks and not sharp right out of the package. This is also happening with Monetecs or Muzzy's, I can't remember which. Go to AT and you can read all about it. -
Rage 3-blade broadhead SUCK!?!?!
Red Sparky replied to AZ_Native's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
The other thing you might consider is there are counterfeit Rage broad heads out there. Not just Rage but other broad heads are being faked, so you might have gotten some and from what I understand is the blade material is substandard and will break off so you get little penetration. It is really hard to tell as the packaging looks exactly like the true legit broad heads. -
I wish I had photos of all the arrowheads and native american artifacts my dad found on private land here in NM. The coolest was a leather awl made from the jaw bone of a deer. It was all donated to the Maxwell Museum at UNM in Albuquerque. One year the sheriff had to call out the local forensic anthropologist from UNM to determine the skull that washed down the arroyo was not a recent homicide but an old indian burial.

Bow is a Hoyt Charger, brace height 6 3/4". Blazer straight vanes. I was thinking I was under spined with the arrows. I did have a WB on it but changed to a QAD hunter drop away rest so re-tuned it. I also sprayed my vanes and rear arrow with talcum powder so I know I don't have any clearance issues. Started with paper then walk back, then broad head but I didn't do the bare shaft tune. When I first started broad head tuning I found out the nock loop was showing high with broad heads, perfect left to right with field points just about 2" low, so I just slowly raised the new rest until field points and broad heads were hitting the same spot at all yardages. When I say same spot the bow will shoot better than I can but they are within my group circle at that distance. 20 yards I strive for a group < 2", 30 < 3", 40 < 4", 50 < 5", 60 < 6". I am thinking if I get the 300 spine and it is too stiff with the 100 grain heads I would add 125 grains to weaken it some.

Happening in Oregon but Issue is Alive and Well Here in S. AZ
Red Sparky replied to Jawa512's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Do you think that rancher has a right to lock a gate that provides access to a forest service road that crosses his private property but then allow his "good old boys" or other's of his choice access? At first, I responded with a resounding NO until the question was put in the context of do I have the right to close a pedestrian gate across my private property that allows access to a public park behind me and choose who I allow to cross my land if I want to? You bet your bottom dollar I do! That said, we pay our taxes to manage all that land up there. There are too many stories of someone hiking around the closed off land to get to that good spot only to be passed on the forest service road on the other side by "good old boy Billy Bob" in his Dodge Cummins 2500 with the 100 class deer in the bed of the truck he drove right to. Is there any sort of easement on the road? Is it a forest service road or just a road into the forest? If it is not a public road he has every right to lock access to his land and only let certain people use his land. So now the question on the pedestrian gate, I have a 10ft. easement around my property so if your pedestrian gate is within the easement you can't shut it off. Kind of depends on how your land is titled. My easement is a utility easement only so only utilities can use it but if I build on it in the future I can be told to tear down what I built so they can run utilities through my property. Many roads are like that to our state trust land. People assumed they were public roads when they were not and didn't know what to do when gates went up.'We were held in a "hostage" situation to pay for access to state trust lands here by our new Land Commissioner. We pay a hunting access through our licenses but over half the state trust land is not accessible. He wanted $2 million/year when we had been paying about $200,000 for the hunting season. How would you feel to pay that much for 3 months when that is the yearly fee for other users? Now if that money was used to get access to more state land I would feel differently but it is not. The other thing is we play second fiddle to the primary land lessee. If we have public access the primary land lessee might say we "have a cattle drive that would be messed up by hunting" so you can't hunt during that time. Guess what ....We can't hunt that land during that time. That is just our state land but the same goes for FS and BLM. If it is blocked by private land without a public access way, the public can't hunt it but anybody that wants to pay a "trespass fee" or family only get to access it through the private land. You just have to find a way around the private land, even if you get dropped off by a helicopter. If you want to see it get real bad turn all the Fed. land over to the states and let it get sold to the highest bidder. Imagine not being able to get access to the Gila, Tetons, Kaibab, or any Fed. land anywhere in the west. So you know how I stand on that issue. The other problem I have is the people that think they are entitled to use the land because it has been leased for so long they forget it is PUBLIC land and not PRIVATE land. I have many family members that have ranches and lease grazing rights so I have a foot on both sides of the fence. OK rant over. -
