I thought it had to be put into a non-interest bearing account. I didn't think they could get interest on it. Here in NM they have a hold against my card for the amount of my elk tag, deer tag, and hunting license. It shows pending charges to NM G&F. If I draw I am betting the charges will be applied for the proper amount at midnight of April 26th since that is when they release the results. Either way they don't have the money to get interest on but I can't spend it either. They probably do the same thing to cards there, you have until March 22nd to update your card information and then they start hitting them the 27th.

Please help NM residents on deer identification
Red Sparky replied to Red Sparky's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in New Mexico
Yeah but you know how the court system goes. Glad they had to pay a fine and lose the deer. They might have lost 3 years of hunting privileges as well. I personally ran into two guys hunting about three years ago ( the 2014 season) and we got to talking. I asked if they were hunting mulies or whitetails. They responded "deer". I said "yes but what species?" They responded the ones with antlers. So I had to explain to them most of NM is a FAD (fork antlered deer) but this unit you have to decide coues whitetail or mule deer when you get the tag. They pulled out the leftover tags they bought and found out they were hunting mule deer on whitetail tags. Luckily they had not shot at anything yet. -
My uncle had one and I got a lot of range time with one. The one that got handed down to me, first my grandfathers and then my dad's when my grandfather got killed, is the Model 721 in .270 Winchester.

Anything to do with 1968 and ending a dream?

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah. I won't know anything until April 26th so enjoy rubbing it in some more.

Talk about a deer hugger, literally.

Had two gun stores broken into in Albuquerque in the last two weeks.

You mean you don't think about elk 24/7, 365 like I do?

When their head gear falls off......is when they shed.

So the things to learn from the story is don't cross state lines and violate the Lacey Act. $25,000 fine and up to 6 months in jail for killing an endangered species. Add $100,000 and a year for violating the Lacey Act. If more than one person knows, it is not a secret. Have a throw away gun and throw it away where it can't be found. Since the article mentioned was from 2000 here is a more recent one. http://www.wildearthguardians.org/site/News2?page=NewsArticle&id=8579#.WI-wdhScHw8

$50,000 reward for arrest and conviction with over 36 wolves shot..... come on.. nobody has that good of friends. The first time they try and convict somebody a DNA test will be demanded and that will be the end of the hybrid program. Your saying that 36 wolves have been shot and not one conviction yet?

But having the unit number adds so much to the story and pictures. I find I enjoy the stories and pictures more when they include the unit number.

Cinnamon schnapps would be better as Ibarra hot chocolate has a nice cinnamon flavor.

I saw a great Ruger bolt action but the bolt was not right, it was left. Oh well I don't need another .270 anyhow.

All electricity kills you with amperage, not voltage. I am sure lots of people have been hit with 10,000 volts at less than .005 amps------just go touch an electric fence sometime. Edit: Or get hit by a taser

Doing an ohms test is easy but a meggor is better. If you know you have 212 feet to the pump, say with #4 stranded wire, look up the resistance for #4 stranded wire (usually it is per 1000 feet) and figure what it should be for 212 feet. Add that to the resistance you should be getting from the motor. example made up from the top of my head for a 3 phase motor: Resistance of wire .05 ohms; Resistance of windings .25 ohms; so each phase (A,B,C) to ground should be open. If you are reading any resistance between a phase and ground you have a short. Phase A to B, B to C, and A to C should be; .05 ohms+.05 ohms +.25 ohms =.35 ohms. Usually one phase will be off from the others showing you have a problem with the wire or the motor.

About 20 years on a submersible pump I bet the pump is going out. Most of those pumps have an automatic resetting thermal overload to keep from melting the pump. If you were running the pump without any tank or floats it should run 24/7 or until the thermal overload kicked the pump out. You can run an ohm test to see if the windings are shorting out on the pump before pulling it. As far as cleaning it the casing will be rusting and flakes falling into the bottom of the well. It also depends on sediment build up and how hard the water in the well is. So I bet the bottom of your casing is about 230 feet. You pump probably sits 10-20 ft off the bottom of the well.

Try setting up their own e-mail accounts but try to use the same password. When I set my kids up on NMG&F to enter the draw that is what I did. So I can log in and add them to my application or do the youth hunts for them. I just have to change the user name but keep the same password.

I hear you on Guinea Pigs. My daughter had two and it was funny to have them popcorn and squeal when happy. Sorry for your loss. We just had to put down our 9 year old cat due to diabetes and starting of organ failure. I still cry over my "first" dog that was mine. Got her as an 8 week old German Shepherd/ Chow puppy when I was 15 and had to put her down 16 years later. All my pets have been shelter animals except for our bird.

Atlanta is going to shred the Packers next weekend. With the way the secondary for the Packers looked in the second half they won't be able to keep up with Ryan passing the ball. Do have to say Dak is going to be one heck of a good quarterback if he doesn't pull an RG3.

Wait until the last day to apply so we can have more of those "system crashed, can't apply" threads again this year.

All my old hunting/ shooting mags go to an assisted living center here. Easy to take and drop off.

I like NM by paying up front. Apps are due March 22nd this year which means I put in March 20th, no use them having my money any longer than what they need. Except for deer, I know I will get one of those tags so now I just have to decide weapon choice.

How old is your well and when was it last cleaned. I pulled many irrigation wells in the Hatch Valley. Most submersible wells come with the wiring attached to them to keep them waterproof. So for your well you would order pump with 225 feet of wiring. If you don't tape the wiring to the pipe it is possible to pinch the wire and after time you lose voltage /amperage to the pump due to insulation degrading. Might as well have your well cleaned if you are putting a new pump in it. Sediment will build up at the bottom of the well making it less effective.
