43 days to my archery elk hunt and this happens. I guess I should be happy it was not closer to season but will be fun sighting in my broad heads. At work today my hand got slammed in a wrought iron gate and broke my trigger finger on the bone where a ring would sit ( between hand knuckle and middle knuckle). Black and blue and swollen four times normal. I can't bend it so will see how long it takes to be able to move it. The other great news I got is the new, one and only Cabelas for NM, is having it's grand opening when I am gone. I guess I will have to kill an elk to make up for it.

Look at bunk beds to sleep that many. Depending on how long you plan on using them you might buy new. I bought a Davis tent this summer on sale and got the 12x14. My oldest daughter is graduating this year so I need to sleep up to four soon down to three. Got the stove jack so I can add a stove later. The nice thing about Davis tents is you can select the option to have a door on the back wall rather than a window and the feed though sewn in for the frame.. Then you can put two tents together to make a bigger tent as needed or smaller. An example would be two 12x14's put together making a 12x28. Or two tents facing each other with a porch between them.

Save your waypoints, tracks, etc. as a .gdb file (if your GPS is a Garmin) and drag it right into Google Earth. I will have to do that. Yes I have a Garmin. The other thing I need to check is I like to use my GPS set on UTM to better use with my map. Wish I could change Google Earth to UTM rather than the Lat/Long they use.

I keep dipping it into the copenhagen can and then beer and it is doing much better. I don't want to ruin my dip or beer with dirt.

I shoot my Scott Shark like a back tension anyhow. The problem I should overcome in a few days or weeks is bending it around the trigger. Waiting to see the colors tomorrow.

I want to do the opposite......GPS to Google Earth

On the Sitka website and Youtube. To me it was a very powerful and moving movie. Suggest all to watch it.

I know nothing of their packing stuff but the wall tent I bought this summer is top notch. I sent a question on a Saturday around 3 before I bought figuring I would hear back Monday or Tuesday. Nope I heard back 30 minutes after I sent the e-mail. This was from the man himself and was super helpful. I don't think I will need customer service but I was impressed by the quick, personal way the company is run.

I was disappointed by the other thread......I never saw the picture with the ice cream cone!

The bulls I saw going to Reserve the other night had good antler growth this year. The 6x6 going from Unit 15 to 16E was really nice. It was after dark but he was in the middle of the road with about 8 cows. Luckily he and some cows went left and some cows went right and I was like a bowling ball going right through a 7-10 split. Tons of elk from Aragon to Cruzville.

There is an arizona trail mountain bike race each year. it's a pretty legendary deal. currently, the race routes around the wilderness areas, however, there is current legislation to allow bikes to use the trail, and other trails in wilderness areas. hopefully this law passes. Is it National Wilderness or State Wilderness? It would have to pass on a National level if it is federal land. I know when I was looking at a trip into the Gila Wilderness the rule was no wheeled vehicles. That means if you had a game cart you would have to take the wheels off and put it on skids. We were able to bike 5 miles in with trailers behind the bikes to the wilderness boundary. Then we had to leave them and continue on foot into the wilderness. Sure am glad nobody was out cleaning up the forest of "abandoned" property chained and locked to trees.

Here is the description: I have one package of three green Nockturnal nocks size S. The package is open just enough where I might have taken one out to try. They might be two years old and I have no idea if they work since I am now shooting Easton Axis which take the X size. Reply to this post and then PM me with your name and address and I will drop them in the mail to you. Todd

Just buy a Judge. Then use the smallest shot size you can find in 410.

I am getting ready to build/ modifying a trailer to put all my camping/hunting stuff in. I won't need gas cans anymore when I get it done. I am putting a gas tank from a vehicle under it with a 12v fuel pump and a hose. I will have my own fuel station depending on how many gallons I want to take. Thinking I might look into getting the bed from a wrecked truck. That way it will be all set up for the tank.

I am going to the post office now to drop them in the mail to lady luck.

Yep. ^^^^^ Depending on how bad the burn was it could be ideal this year.

So kill the elk opening day. Be home the next day. Take the time you saved to go hunting with them. Problem solved.

We knew who you were talking about.

New Bow Setup - Looking for Opinions
Red Sparky replied to AZDirtyTaco's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I was too busy checking out that buck with a recurve that I just now noticed something....... ONESHOT is true to his name, there is only one arrow in that quiver! -
My German Shepherd I had would have killed the cat instantly. She hated cats and killed a 20 pound feral tom in five seconds.

Reading archery talk they seem to use them a lot back east. Where I am set up I don't have a cell signal. If I don't have a cell signal I don't have data. The data plans are not feasible on those. I guess if you only send thumbnail pics you could get away with those GB. I wouldn't even consider a plan on 500mb. I have a home-brew that uses a 512mb memory stick. Had it filled up in two weeks with animal pics. Now say you run 10 cameras for 4 GB at $35/mo. you are looking at $350/mo. Then your camera is considered trash and taken out of the field by the good people cleaning the forest and carrying bolt cutters. Do you have a contract or is it month by month? Not for me and what I want to do.

Probably no, it will make front page news. Remember the shootout in the four corners up in Co. ? 3 guys involved and they took off into the mountains, never heard anything else until about 5 years later a body was found by hikers. The Glock and other equipment found identified person was one of the 3. I think the other bodies were found also but it was years ago and I don't remember.

Should AZGFD eliminate the youth muzzleloader hunt in Unit 16A (Hualapai Mountains)?
Red Sparky replied to Capt. Don Martin's topic in Youth Hunters
I will send a note as an out of stater but here is my take on youth hunts in NM. My kids have a better chance of drawing a regular tag over a youth tag any day. 25 youth tags with 150 youths putting in for it compared to 125 regular tags with 250 hunters putting in for tags. -
Powder Vs. Pellets
Red Sparky replied to Alpinebullwinkle's topic in Muzzleloader hunting for Coues Deer
First no luck looking for pellets in Albq. and Rio Rancho. Loose powder is best since you can tailor the powder charge. I also ran into a guy one time that didn't know the pellets have a darker end to go in first. I guess they use a very fine powder, like ffffg, to help ignite the pellets. That end goes to the primer flash hole. Don't try to tailer them down to the grain like smokeless but rather 5-10 grains. Measure the powder by volume and not on a weight scale. Different powder manufactures powder weighs different but a volume measure gives you what you need. I find max loads are not as accurate as loads close to max..I shoot groups increasing powder by 10 grains up to max. loads. I see my groups shrink and then open up again. When they start to open up again you have found your powder charge. Types of powder are what you want to shoot. I have always shot Pyrodex without any problems and use T/C #13 cleaner and a patch of bore butter to clean and store. Store muzzle down as the bore butter turns liquid in hot temps and will run into the nipple/ flash hole and plug it up. When I say without any problems I shoot Pyrodex P out of my .50. I shoot 250 grain Shockwaves in sabots for elk and 200 for deer. I can load five rounds before I need to run a patch down the barrel. My first ML bull elk was killed with a 250 Shockwave at 200 yards with one shot through the heart.
