Looks like the whole unit is going to burn.

What is the story this year for the desert sheep. A lot of big ones were killed last year, any left? I have max points and want to apply for the best units but I have heard conflicting reports of Pneumonia, blue tongue and so forth. I am looking at 22 and 24b. Anyone know why they have a separate hunt just for the wilderness? Wouldn't 24BS cover all that too and more?
-
I did 28 and 24B

I hope this is a good year but like said, I may still have to wait 10 more years to get a tag. I heard they are capturing the rams out of 24B and sending them to Texas.

Here we are again. Same argument as last year. You can't count on the outfitters to help you choose as the several I talked to only wanted to steer me to the units THEY knew and not somewhere else that was potentially good. Obviously last years strategy didn't work.

I went to Nambia in July. I had a great time, shot some nice trophies and enjoyed the relief from our heat. Congrats on your great trip!!

Has anyone heard if they were hunters? Isn't archery elk going on up there? -
I never set the 180 as my goal, I want to hunt a unit that has that potential. Who wouldn't?

I still have 20 good years of hitting the hills left. I asked because maybe somebody knows something and disease, die-off etc. There are 4 different hunts in those 2 units as well. There are folks who know a lot more about sheep than I do. I have only been on a few sheep hunts myself. All were for nelsoni rams, however.

I don't care what everyone else is putting in for, just what I am putting in for. When I drew my antelope tag I applied for one choice and drew tag #1. I am open to 22 or 24B, not really thinking there are 180 class sheep in any other units right now.

Yesterday it said "drawn" and even gave me the tag number for rifle bull in 23. Today is is back to Pending. something is amiss.

I know a couple of tanks in 23 that have hundreds and hundreds of water dogs.
-
Congrats to you. I am still waiting for them to post results. I don't like checking the card and not knowing which hunt. Been 35 years for me so maybe I gotta wait a few more!

Not a smart thing to do. Under the current title 17 laws, you would have just illegally taken an animal. Under the same BS rules, the G&F person would be 'obligated' to cite you! There is no exceptions in the statute for mercy killing. If you shoot one again, keep your mouth shut (or your keyboard). A few years ago a snowbird hit a 180" class bighorn by Stewart Mountain, he did not want the salvage tag. G&F auctioned it and it brought a pretty penny. IF you are going to take the animal, you need to wait for the investigator to ISSUE you a salvage tag- not just give you a number. Looks like that Tundra is possibly totaled; the bull is! As for airbags, they deploy based on inertia- if one goes, they both go.
-
I have driven a lot of them and they won't touch a properly running 7,3 with a load (I have one). They are peppy but don't get good mileage if you use them. I don't know anything that does- at least they get a lot better than the Tundras! I would love to have one but I have two trucks already!

Did anyone lose a GPS on Mt. Ord last year? I found one yesterday along with a couple of other things. Let me know roughly where and what model it is and it's yours. I was in a pretty remote area. I washed it up, put fresh batteries in it and it still works fine.

I've had one person contact me but unfortunately it wasn't his.

I couldn't find a suitable belt so I had Rocky Minster of Gilbert make me one. It's he11 for stout. Hard to find a decent belt these days.

Did you lose your GPS while hunting? I found one.

Biggest I have measured is 7 1/2" wide at front paw. Central AZ.

22 WT I always get the 2nd choice IF I draw a tag.

The Education branch at G&F is run by a bunch of libtards who want volunteer instructor led classes to go away. They have all but come right out and said as much. I think you will find that most of the instructors are hanging up there orange hats. I taught for 15+ years, teaching some 100+ kids and dads a year. They have made it impossible for us. The Mesa group has put more than 10,000 kids through their biannual program but we haven't taught a class in 2 1/2 years now thanks to the ED branch. You pretty much have to take the online class which is way to much for a 10-year-old. Any talk about new hunter recruitment is just empty words. I wish we could take back our department but they have dug in and made it tough.

I am an advocate of allocating some hunts at higher prices for a two-fold reason, one for revenue and the other, to steer only serious hunters towards those hunts. I don't think it needs to be all early bulls across the board but there is room for improvement. The other thing I would be in favor of is a 3 year wait after drawing a bull tag and a 5 bonus point minimum or some other filter to keep 10 year olds from drawing early bull tags. Before you all go ballistic, think about what this means. How many 'kids' really need a September bull hunt? I think the guys and gals that have been applying for a while should have the preference on these types of hunts. The kids have their own hunts (junior tags) but the adults don't have their own hunts. There are many ways to do this, raising the price across the board is NOT the best way in my opinion.

Anyone know of a place in the Phx area that actually does a good job repairing hunting boots- resoling? I have had Lambs fix a pair for me but the soles came unglued twice. Don't want to take a nice pair there and looking for input before I send them off to Danner or some other out-of-state place for new soles!
