    Sick of the Arrogance

It really kills me how someone kills an exceptional animal- one - and then they pimp it out like they are the greatest hunter in the world. Especially when they are guided! Whatever happened to ethics? I guess they skipped the day that lesson was taught in life. I recently was reminded of this when a forum member here found out that the guide who guided him to a 400”+ bull, allowed the outfitter he works for to post them on his website (photos taken and owned by the guide) and he threatened legal action if the outfitter didn’t remove the photos! He felt it might lead someone to believe that this bull was killed in some manner other than the classic DIY type hunt! I have kept my mouth shut up to this point but this was the final straw! He even submitted a story to Eastman’s Bowhunting Journal where he misrepresented the facts completely, removed the copywrites from the photos and totally threw the guide under the bus. He also scammed RMEF and got them to pay his taxidermy bill and post the same fantasy story on their website. I guess it’s like a drug, it goes to your head and you can’t stop. Let’s try and keep this real. Life is too important to crap on all your friends so we can pound our chests. OK, rant over.

    Sick of the Arrogance

Wow- I haven't been on here since I posted this and didn't know that this had blown up until Rod called me tonight. I never named Phil or hinted at who it was. I was just disgusted with the way the whole thing went down. When Phil called or emailed Steve Chappell and demanded over legal action that he remove his photos from his website is when I finally had enough. Phil and I hashed it out over email for a while and all Phil could do is make claims that aren't true- not even close to true. Rod was very nice in his assessment of this whole thing. Phil told Rod he didn't want me to hunt with them on my November elk tag because I would "shoot a bull out from under his son" were his words. Of course, I was shocked by this and told Rod that I wouldn't even go hunting until his son had killed a bull. I was in the middle of building a new house and really couldn't spend the time I needed during the hunt. I had, with Rod, seen some nice bulls in this area and one bull we thought was a 390 class bull. We found it the second day and the main beam was broken on one side so I just packed up and went home. I have killed a lot of bulls and didn't need to kill one more just for the practice- I wanted something better than what I already had. On my computer, this thing is like 5 pages and there really wasn't much negative said after the first page or so. My rant was somewhat generic in nature that I was displeased that stuff like this goes to people's heads. The thread had become a biology lesson and had smoldered just about out! He had to come and try to start the name calling and such. Our emails only continued until he started with profanity and threatened my life. I am so done with him. He can continue to be a idiot at Mesa PD and make more friends that he can crap on. What he did was unethical (claim and animal to be DIY in order get a magazine article and then remove copyrights from photographs which belonged to Rod Miskin in order to continue with his charade to Eastmans.) Not sure why he thinks this has been causing him a lot of grief because unless Eastman's read this thread, they still think he was a DIY hunter and sent his own photographs. I knew, Rod knew, Steve Chappell knew and our inner circle knew. He is the one that made it go further than that. there is a lot more to this and it is not worth my time to sit here and type it all up. As you can see, Rod's post clarified the incident that I originally posted about and instead of manning up and apologizing to Rod, Phil would rather just sling mud. I am done with this thread- the statement about mud wrestling with pigs holds true, you both get muddy but the pig likes it.

    #@%!& shotgun sights!!

You guys need to use something other than your quail guns... I have a dedicated predator rig. With a pattern as tight as mine shoots, I like having real sights, besides, I grew accustomed to real sights on a shotgun with my police shotgun which had rifle sights (for slugs I guess). Beads are great for shooting patterns but not so great for shooting real tight stuff. I put a different Tru-glo on it to get my through but I long for my aperture rear sight. Look at the custom tactical shotguns, turkey guns, deer hunting shotguns. Those guys have it figured out! Once you have seen the light, you will understand.

    To many "pinned" topics

We are up to 11 pinned topics there is almost no room for regular topics anymore. Do these all really need to be pinned? Let's streamline again and get back to more current stuff on the first page. What do you all think?

    The Eagles have Landed...Trailcam pic

Took a guy 2 weeks ago in 27. He killed a buck and quartered it to cool. Went back about 3 hours later to pack it out and the eagles had already reduced the ribs and spine to nothing. They found it fast!! Poor ravens didn't have a chance to get a snack! Might have been the same eagles!!

    #@%!& shotgun sights!!

Go buy a Benelli SBE and see how many sight beads it has! All the better shotguns have two beads these days. No excitement, just puzzled me when I didn't have a sight picture as I threw my shotgun up. A single front bead is OK for wing shooting but you will not find a single competitive clays or trap shooter with a single front bead these days. In any event, I don't have a front bead but rather a big fiber optic front sight. I just went to look through my peep and it wasn't there. That split second hesitation was all it took! I was bummed as I had a perfect track record up to that point with my shotgun. My ONLY other miss at a coyote was when I accidentally loaded a slug instead of a shotshell and didn't aim fine enough. That's when I switched to the Truglos. I am going to drill and tap it for a rail so I can put an Aimpoint on it when I get a chance. Went out this morning, took the 17 only. Didn't call anything in but woodpeckers!!

    To many "pinned" topics

I use that new topic button sometimes, but I prefer to see what's new only in the areas that I might be interested in. Might be better to have a section just for "important stuff" so if someone wants to go back and review stuff they can. I guess when you pinned Gino's rant it really turned me off.

    #@%!& shotgun sights!!

I have never seen a shotgun that doesn't have sights??? What kind of a question is that? Now, there are a lot of shotguns without rear sights but pretty much anything new is going to have a rear bead as well as front bead. I have turkey sights on my gun because it shoots so tight. I have had no problems killing coyotes at 75 yds but this requires better sights than simply a front bead sight. There are myriad shotgun sights for turkey guns these days; red dot, fiber optic, dual beads and regular rifle sights. We'll see how it goes in the morning.

    Season's done until August

Sorry guys, you can't eat mulies in January and I already have one that size. Gotta be something special before I get excited about them. Now a 105 WT, I all about that!! I passed a couple of nice mulies in August too. I didn't want to end there either- I'm hopeless...
  14. Another season come and gone. I snuck out one last day yesterday and man was it miserable. I did glass up a 180" buck at my first spot and it was an easy stalk but there was no way I was punching my 2011 tag on a carp in January! Didn't see any WTs over 75". Did see any piggies. Cold wind, snow, rain, hail... I can't wait until August! Now I can just concentrate on getting a piggie- have two more weeks!

    To many "pinned" topics

If it's so important, why are there 3 or 4 of the topics that haven't been added too in 4 months? Sure, I can change the number of threads that i can see, but I can still only see so many on one page, when the pinned topics, that nobody uses, take up more space than the ACTIVE topics it just bothers me. People like to see dynamic things- log on, take a quick peak at what's new and go on.

    Attack site

I cannot view this website with either Chrome or Firefox. Anything Google related says it's an attack site-that some 3rd party has loaded malicicious code. ??? I have never run into this before. I couldn't bypass it either- had to resort to IE and type the name in myself.

    Urban predator calling

My buddy had his full camo on and a Circe call hanging off his neck when we stopped at the credit union on the way home one day. The poor teller asked him what was hanging off his neck and he proceeded to blow a full series of rabbit distress sounds. The teller cried and we were kindly asked to leave the bank! I was totally dumbfounded when he did it! I guess that qualifies as "urban". As for shooting stuff in town, you can't even archery hunt inside city limits unless you have permission from police chief. So pretty much NO.
