I havent take. My boat out for a couple of months. Want to try and get on a quick morning session. Anyone know if sag and canyon have improved? Those are no normal stomping grounds but heard the bite is brutal due to golden algae. If those lakes are off I may hit Bartlett or Rosey...

Is the ban on waters done deal? If not any idea when that will come into effect? Wondering if there will be a grace period for cams already out in the field.

Thanks for the helpful response -
I have 9 pts and bought it for elk this year. Glad I did...if this drought holds up I may turn my tag in and draw again next year (I have a 7W tag so highly likely I can draw that again next year...) So it's situational.

We were on birds fri, sat, and sun. On sat am I rooster some birds and figured we were going to make it happen. We setup <50 yds from the roost and they were gobbling and answering my calls very well...both hens and gobblers. For the life of me I wasnt able to call em in. It was kind of discouraging. I thought I was calling well. We had the birds patterned pretty well and my son had a couple shots jumping out of the side by side but 50 yds is a long way for a 20g (no wounded birds FYI). All in all it was a fun trip. Next time Im going to roost the birds and wait them out under the tree and blast away when they fly down lol j/k.

I hit 6a this weekend to scout. Saturday was tough with high winds. We only got on birds in one spot aside from that it was tough. Hope my plan a holds up lol. The gobblers were with hens at the time.

I don’t have a Utv but sold my att since I want to be able to cruise with family. Now the next question is costs. You can get into a 2 seater or 3 seater bench style pretty cheap used but I have a family of 4 and the markup for that upgrade is significant. So will my wife really want to roll with us or not is the 4000 dollar question lol

I drew a 7w tag archery tag which is awesome. It's been a long wait....so i have a dilemma now in that i don't have a reliable wing man for my hunt. The guy i would have hunted with drew his own tag with his son. I have no problem putting in the time to scout and learn the unit but i'm not keen on hunting solo and minimizing my chances to call in a bull if he can pinpoint me perfectly (Vs with a wingman they would presumably be calling from 50 yards behind me etc). As a plan b, i could go with an outfitter. That'll run be $5k +/- though which is totally do-able financially but I don't want to blow the money if there isn't a good value to the investment...which leads to my question below: Question to you all is how much more difficult am i making life for me if i go solo? Id like to put the pack out factor aside for now (e.g. packing out the animal after the fact...i know that will suck but whatever right ). Any advice or tips on solo archery elk tactics? I was thinking maybe i could use one of those bow /cow decoy things....

As someone pointed out the use of vehicles is allowed in that unit for game retrieval. So that should alleviate a good chunk of that concern.
