    saturday in the park.....

Amazing, they seem to always figure out the a safe place to call home. The human smells and interaction become part of there life and it does not bother them as it does in the forest. Deer are one thing, but I would not want my kids playing around them. Bill

Eli, always like reading your input on units. As a NR sitting on 22 points I hope I can get a tag in a few years in one of the top units. Bill

Started off think this would be a good topic on unit 10. Ended up pretty funny. Good humor Bill
  9. My 16 year old son has enough points for these hunts (7 non-resident), but I am not sure how good they are anymore. We are debating upon waiting a few more years and having him hunt the late desert muzzy hunt or hunting a junior hunt in 2016. Anyone have any info on how the 16A youth muzzy hunt went this last year or two? Thanks in advance for any info. Bill

    The Wait Was Worth It

Very nice buck. Az sure produces some big bucks. I need to rethink my antelope stratagy as I am sitting on 20 NR points and just changed jobs after working for the same place 26 years. Old job would not let me take vacation from last week of August until early November. New job I can take off any time. Bill

    6A muzzleloader

Beautiful bulls guys. A whole lot bigger than the busted up 5 point raghorn I shot opening evening. That sure is some great country you guys have down there. Maybe next time I have the tag I will have some time to be picky and check out more of the area. Some very ROCKY roads. Bill

    16A and other youth hunts

Thanks for the replies everyone. With his busy school schedule, track, and cross country running it looks like 16A or wait a few years and hunt after he graduates HS. He is more interested in mule deer now, but maybe I should start trying to lean him towards coues. I have Don's number somewhere and will have to get in contact with him again. A few years ago when my son and I took the NR supplemental hunters ed with him the report was that 16A was not as good as it use to be. And I have not heard much talk about it on any forums lately. Antelope unit 19A or 9

If you where a DIY archery hunter which unit would you pick for the best chance at a great antelope and why? Which unit is more archer friendly for spot and stock or sitting water? I think I have enough points to get either hunt next year. And would like to take a scouting trip this summer to check out one of these units. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Bill

    Antelope score

Passed on this buck a few years ago during an archery hunt. Chased a much larger buck for a few days but could never close the deal. When I first found this guy it was easy to get well into archery range, but I found the larger buck a day earlier and was picky. As luck would have it, I could not find him a few days later. Just would like others opinion on what he scores. Thanks Bill

    Antelope score

AZkiller, I usually try to be polite, but have you ever held or measured a set of antelope horns? I do not know if you are serious, but 57 inches!! The first antelope my son arrowed when he was 12 scored around 64 inches. Great buck for a kids first. so you really think this buck below scores 57? Bill

    Antelope score

Buck was from Wyoming unit 61 in 2011 What the photo does not show is that the buck's bases are really round, and the curl of the length is not clear. Like I said I thought he might go 80 inches. But since I let him walk I will never know. It is interesting to hear everyone's guesses and opinions. I am no expert, and antelope seem to never give you a clear look where length, prong, and mass all line up. Also long prong length seems to make mass look less. Therefore one picture is very hard to judge. The horns always seem to turn funny and you can only see one or maybe two aspect of the horn at a time. The one thing that always throws me a curve is horn length when they face you. I have seen pictures of live bucks that are known to be 90+ and from a side view look great and tall. Once the are facing you they look a lot shorter. Here is a picture of the buck I took the last day of this hunt. I know what he scores. Lets hear everyone's guesses and opinions on his score. In a few days I will post a few pictures of its euro mount at different angles. Bill
  19. Hi everyone, I plan on calling Game & Fish tomorrow, but I would like to know if anyone knows if I can fix my bonehead mistake. Last night I messed up and put my son in for a deer point with his sister instead of the youth hunt I have been applying him in for the last few years. This should be his year to draw. I just realized my mistake today. He is 15 and was looking forward to this hunt the last couple years, but has not been able to draw. Hope I did not completely mess this up for him. Anyways, will Game & Fish allow you to change your choices after applying on line? Thanks Bill

    Antelope score

At 35 yards he looked really good, but no way close to the one I saw the day before and was chasing around. I felt this one might go 80, but was not sure. Would of slid an arrow through him if it was not for seeing and wanting the other one. Flatlander that is a pretty buck too.

6A late muzzy hunt and snow

Hello everyone, I was just wondering what is the most snow that anyone has seen on this hunt. Is there a possibility of there being enough snow to prevent you from getting around? A friend and I got lucky and drew tag this year and are just trying to plan where to camp and be in a good enough spot to walk from camp if need be. Thanks Bill

    Antelope unit 19A or 9

Looks like I need to check out 19A then. With 30 tags it should not be to crowded. I hear there are a few landowners that grant permission to their land also. Thanks everyone. Bill

    Youth hunt application mistake

I called this morning no corrections once submitted. What a bonehead move on my part. We thought after we took the NR class a couple years ago that he would draw that year, but more people keep putting in for it. With 5 points I think this year would of been his turn. At least he is 15 and still can apply next year. Thanks Bill
