Unit 33, 2450 Coues tags!
archeryasu replied to AZBearhunter's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I normally don't post on this site but I couldn't help but read and respond to this thread with the amount of ludicrous comments that leave me in awe and shaking my head. I used to think this was a great site with a lot of good, honest, hardworking people who share a common love and passion for the outdoors. Now it seems to have just turned into a b**ch fest with a bunch of arrogant uneducated punks who weren't spanked by their parents enough and don't know what they're talking about. The more I read posts on here about deer numbers, tag allotments for units, poaching, baiting, stealing trail cameras ect.....the more I realize we as hunters are our own worst enemy. What ever happened to ethics?? I can't but help give all you "experts" out there a word of advice before you run you mouth about what you think you know. I am no expert by any means, however there is a difference between stating facts and not knowing what the h*ll you're talking about. 1.) Before you run your mouth, become educated about the subject you're talking about. Do some research and find out some actual hard facts before going on a rant, run your mouth and sound like an idiot. 2.) Don't get your "facts" front a online hunting forum or the media. There are plenty of research journals and studies out there to educate yourself on carrying capacities for healthy deer and elk herds that will explain why AZGFD does what they do. Contact the AZGFD yourself and get the answers directly from them! 3.) WM's in Arizona are required to have a bachelors degree in wildlife and fishery sciences or a closely related field. They are also required to attend a full fledged police academy and become AZPOST certified (same certification a city police and sheriffs deputies). For those of you whom think its easy to get hired, you've got it wrong. They are highly selective and a number of candidates do not make it through the background, oral boards or police academy for that matter. 4.) WM's DO recommend hunt closures, reduced tag numbers and attempt, for the most part, to manage units to benefit wildlife however, there are a lot more politics at play which outweigh their recommendations. AZGFD did put a lot of time and effort to surveying hunters about whether they wanted hunt quality (less tags bigger animals) or quantity ( more tags with more opportunity). You would be surprised that a large vast majority of the public want to go hunting no matter the quality of the hunt. We, as a whole, chose more tags and better odds of getting drawn over hunt quality. AZGFD can't please everyone and if you think that they're gonna kill off all the deer and elk herds the lets be real...why the heck would they want to do that??!! Yes they may issue way too many tags however the quality is still there, you just have to work a little harder for it! How bad do you want it?? As for you guys poaching and stealing...Shame on you!! You're doing nothing but screwing us all whether you know it or not. Karma's a b**ch!! This is just my two cents on the subject and I do not represent the AZGFD. Again, I am not an expert by any means, however I have taken the time to educate myself. If you have an issue and want to make a difference you need to take it to the AZGFD commission or director. WM's can only do so much and are low on the totem pole. If you want to see something different happen with tag numbers educate yourself and do something about it instead of complaining on a hunting forum or about WM's. I apologize if I offended anyone on here with my rant but just felt something needed to be said....good luck and shoot straight! -
Alright. I have seen enough. - Im sold.

I checked on the AZGF website again and it says that i was drawn. Hopefully its just floating out there in the mail. -
Has anyone used the rage 2 blade for elk? or any pros and cons?
-
I was wondering who you guys would recommend for Hoyt archery dealers in the valley? Has anyone dealt with Corner Archery in Glendale or Broken Arrow Archery in Apache Junction? I have looked at Archery Headquarters and they seem to be quite a bit higher on their prices, but they do have good customer service. I have also heard bad things about Bear Mountain. I just wanted to see whom you guys recommend and have dealt with in the past. Thanks

DTB17, Sorry to hear about the accident...but in all actuality the cop can do anything to the illegals due to the fact that he has no jurisdiction. Although the cop was a jerk, people need to stop blaming cops for not doing anything because the truth is hey can’t do anything with the illegals! All the cop could have done was call INS and report them. Until our government gets theirr heads out of their a$$, we are just going to have to deal with this. You have to remember that if these illegas cant be held accountable for anything like a traffic violation due to the fact that they have no personal information to hold them accountable for (i.e social security number, physical address ect..) And the comment made about police by Arizona Guide….. Although some police are A$$ holes, they are there to protect and serve your community by making places as safe as possible. So give the police a break because if you saw what kind of people they deal with everyday, you would sympathize with them a little more. Remember they are our there protecting us!!!! They are not our enemies. -
Had 12 cams out for two weeks
archeryasu replied to akuritone's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
I got this right from the Arizona Game and Fish Hunting and Trapping regulations. Accoring to the Regs, it states: "It may be unlawful to leave tree stands hanging or blinds set for extended periods of time during off seasons. they may be considered abandoned property and subject to seizure." I don’t think may people know about this, but if you ask any game warden they will tell you that you cannot leave your tree stand hanging year round during off seasons. If they find it at a location for a long period of time (i.e. 7 months or more), they will cut it down. http://www.azgfd.gov/pdfs/h_f/regulations/07-08/07-08.pdf -

Hey akuritone, I just wangted to let you know that it is ILLEGAL to have a tree stand out there when there are no deer seasons going on. You may want to check those rules and regualtions on the AZGF web site. -
Well I recently shot both the Allegiance and Tribute and liked them both. I want to purchase one of them for hunting, but I have head several people mention that they have had problems with limbs cracking on the Allegiance. Is this true? In your guy’s opinion, what would be the best choice for shooting anywhere from 20 yards to 100 yards? I also want to be around 285-300 fps. Please feel free to express your opinions.

Bowtech: Allegiance or Tribute?
archeryasu replied to archeryasu's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I am around 28-29 inch draw. I have head a lot of stories about the limbs cracking on the allegiance, but haven’t head anything bad about the tribute an its limbs. What do you guys think it will take for me to shoot 300 fps with the tribute at a 28 inch draw? i.e. how heavy of an arrow with a 100 grain tip? -
Bowtech: Allegiance or Tribute?
archeryasu replied to archeryasu's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Well I the only 100 yard shot I would take would be at antelope and maybe a whitetail. It’s nice just to have those extra pins on your bow and you can be very accurate when you practice. I have an 80 yard pin on my bow right now that I use for hunting and have groups of three arrows the size of a paper plate at that range. I know that some people think it not ethical to shoot that far, but I really think it depends on the bow and how much you have practiced. So to answer you question I would use it for both hunting and target practice. -
Bowtech: Allegiance or Tribute?
archeryasu replied to archeryasu's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Thanks for your input. How many GPI ( grains per inch) are your arrows, both you and your buddy? Also what is the total weight of your arrow with everything on it? -
I was just wondering what the best load for turkey is? Some people recommend 2 shot and others 4 shot for 12 gauge. I just wanted to see what everyone has had the best luck with and what type of choke you were using with a particular shot.
-
Thank you all for your input. The only other question I have is what is T-shot and who makes it? I feel like an idiot but I have never head of it before.

I have a pair of Nikon 12x42 ATB (All Terrain Binoculars) that I have used only three times. They are like new and I have the original box, carry case, warranty information ect. I am asking $250.00 for them. They are priced at $329.00, which is what I bought them for a year ago. They are tripod accessible, waterproof, fog-proof, and shock-proof. They are a very good binocular for them money and the only reason I am selling them is because I have finally got enough money to buy 15x56 Swarovski. If you have any more questions please ask.

These bions are SOLD!!!!!!!!

Bowhunter tries to close road with boulders on Saturday
archeryasu replied to bowsniper's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I think that many people have a misconception about being an ethical hunter. What I mean by this is that everyone has their own thoughts on what the right and wrong thing to do is. My point of view is that I think that leaving a note at a tank saying the dates you will be there is just as bad as telling someone that this is your area and no one can hunt it. People need to understand that it is “A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS”. That’s all there is to it. I know that it can be very frustrating but you have to have respect for the other person that beat you there. I know that’s its wrong for someone to sit at a blind that has been built by someone else, but you have to realize that no particular area is assigned to a person. When the next hunting day comes, get up extra early and beat the guy there. I know people put notes at tanks to try to let everyone know that they will be there certain dates so there won’t be any confusion, but you have to realize that it may just piss people off even more. I hate walking up on a tank and seen a note saying “I will be here jan 25-27”. You can reserve you tank for a particular date…..Think about it. People just need tom learn to have respect for others and have respect for those hunters that beat you to a spot. -
I need to buy a tripod for my 80mm swaro spotting scope...i need something that isn?t too heavy and that has real smooth operation while glassing. I would like to stay under $150.00 if possible....any ideas?

Hello all.... I have been a reader of this forum for a while now but just recently decided to register and start posting...anyway; I was wondering what is the best trail cam for under $180.00. I have read many reviews and have heard many good and bad things about many models. I just want to see what?s coming into my set up and the pictures don?t have to be perfect. I would also prefer a digital rather than something like a 35mm. I just want to hear some input for someone who has had some trial and error with these cameras. One other question I have is about setting out mineral blocks for elk, deer ect... I was wondering if it would be best to put one near water or out in a canyon somewhere remote and just let the animals come to it. Has anyone has sucess by just putting one in a remote location or is it better to set it by a water source? The only problem i have with setting it by a water source or some type of trail is that someone may discover it and tamper with it. I look forward to your input.

I was wondering if anyone has one of these new Nikon ED 82mm fieldscopes. (20by60 power). They are Nikons version of a high definition glass that is top of the line. I looked through a smaller one (60mm) at sportsman?s and it was very clear...just a step under the swaros. They cost around $1,200 for the 82mm but i can get them at a cheaper price . I just wanted to know if anyone has one of these and has field tested it. It is hard to tell the quality in the store and there is a big difference from looking through one in the store and out in the field. Just want some input before i make a purchase.

cool pics...wonder if the deer a moving during the full moon...larger buck will be a nice deer. Are you using a regular mineral block? -
Thanks for the input. The sportsmans in mesa has one 62mm ED with a camera and one without. I think i am going to purchase the 82mm ED one for a whitetail hunt. Hopefully i wont be disappointed with the clarity out in the field. I am also wondering how they are in low light conditions...???
