Yeah, that's precious. Good work on the pigs though guys! -
Nice work! And even though it's short, I like the story. Congrats dude.

Dude, that sucks. Hopefully you get another chance. And yeah, what the heck is that "taillight"?

Bringing deer meat back into the US from Mexico
Coues Sniper replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Mexico
Amanda, you can bring meat in with no problem. It does not need to be frozen. -
So, CRB, are you going to let us in on what that sucker scored???
-
Sweet buck, congrats!!!
-
Neat buck man, congrats. I love it when the main beams almost touch like that. Killing it with your dad makes it that much better! Congrats again, Kevin

Congratulations on a very successful year! Good to see you got some good help from people on the site too (of course those 3 are always helping ) that's what this site is all about! Congrats again, Kevin

Congrats on a great buck. I'd guess he's right around 90". Careful though, once that Coues bug gets ya - it's all over...

Question on another site
Coues Sniper replied to CouesFanatic's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
There are other websites out there??? And i"m pretty sure that anytime your question has the word "shed", "antler", or "old dirty blaze orange" in it, Josh is the guy to ask. -
Wow, great buck. And his first Coues???
-
Good advice above... Double Bull says the whitetail is one of the only animals that will avoid a blind on a same day set-up.. That being said, I've set one up in the morning and had over 50 Coues come to water within sight of it. Course the biggest buck was in the mid 70's
-
Now that's freaking awesome! Great video work Jim, as always. Congrats guys on a great ram.
-
Now that's a pig! I'd say it's gotta be in the mid 50's, but my scoring abilities have come into question lately Great find.

R&Aballardcouesfamily, I did think of one thing that helps us when we boil the skull, and that's take the brain out. If you leave the brain in when you boil it makes a giant mess. The brain must be real fatty because when you cook a skull with it in it gets white greasy stuff everywhere and makes the rest of the skull hard to clean. It's really simple to take out "raw", just slip a piece of wire or even a small stick in there and break it up and it comes out pretty easy. We also try to get as much meat off the head as possible before we boil as well. Hope that helps. Thanks Jim! Have you guys gone down to Mexico yet?

the last few day's outings...

Ditch parrots I'm going to use that one. -
Same here Jim... I was down in Mexico last week and i was surprised at the amount of "rut like" activity we saw. I saw a small 2 point rutting a doe hard, he was doing the lip curl and everything, and some of the guys with me saw some similar activity. However, these were all really small bucks acting this way and i suspect that the storm that passed through had alot to do with it. The deer were all very active after being down for so long, and there were still bachelor groups of bucks (the buck I killed was with 3 other bucks.) I think the weather just has them a little excited. Plus the deer seem to be very healthy this year; most of the deer i saw were very fat - almost pregnant looking! The buck i killed had more fat on him than I've seen on a Coues deer.

Agreed. The Hughes/GSP fight should be a good one, but i think everyone wanted to see him matched up with Serra. And don't count Big Daddy Stevenson out so fast COUESAZ, i think he's going to surprise you!
-
Well said, Lance! Agreed. It's a bummer how it all worked out, but you can't change it now. And he is a nice buck, whose antlers can always be repaired. Congrats.
-
Thanks. I actually didn't clean it, we had a cook at the ranch house we stayed at who boiled it for me. She has broken the nose bones on us before so this time we told her to boil it very slowly. She let it simmer slow for a few hours and then turned the heat off and let it soak overnight, and then started on it again the next morning. When she handed it to me that afternoon I was pretty impressed! It was the best job I've seen her do. Sorry i don't have any other tips, as far as i know she just boiled it and scraped. And yes, that was me. I've had a lucky year

Nice to see some other MMA fans on here! I like Pulver, but i think Faber would destroy him. Pulver did choke Swanson out in 35 seconds, but i don't know... he telegraphed that shot for forever. No set-up whatsoever. I would have liked to see the fight go on for a little while. Faber is almost too confident and aggressive though, Pulver might get lucky and take advantage. The Hughes/Serra fight HAS to happen though after all the talking that has been going on. I'll just be glad to watch a fight that Serra isn't cornering! If i have to hear "atta boy, goooood, what did we talk about here Drago???" one more time... I hope Chuck can pull it out, but i'm not holding my breath. The 29th is going to be one heck of a card though!!! Oh and yeah, nice buck Matt.

 Archery only though!
