Ditto on the above, and i just got the DVD "Predator Obsession 2" and they show a step by step process on how to skin a cat to sell the fur. It really helped me understand to have a visual like that, plus it's a dang good coyote/bobcat video to boot.

Because it's belted. I've heard of good and bad from that caliber. The good was all from people who owned one. The bad was always "my buddy knew a guy that had one and he couldn't get it to group, and his barrel was toast in 500 shots..." A guy i know who only shoots factory stuff through his loves it and is very accurate with it. He shoots 1000 yards all the time (at rocks and such). He did have a couple clients a few years back kill elk at 800 with his. 3 shots, 3 hits, 2 dead elk. As far as the brake, Weatherby sure is proud of theirs, but everybody's brake is better than the next according to them. All i know is you'll need it. Although i have heard of guides going as far as refusing to hunt with guys who had one on. I've never had that issue, thankfully.

Skinning and fur handling
Coues Sniper replied to AzTrapper's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
Clint, I finally got the time to watch the rest of Predator Obsession 2, it was awesome. The segment on skinning a bobcat was great. Very informative, and the visual helped tremendously. Only thing i would change was when he sewed that hole, if he would have done a larger one just to see how it comes together when it's much bigger and if there are any tricks to that. Also, If i was going to have the cat mounted, would i do it the same way? (except complete the feet of course) I know Scott says that if you are going to have it mounted or do a rug to let the taxi do it all, problem is I wouldn't let any taxi in Vegas that i know about do it. And CnS, PM sent. -
I have used the Leupold Spotting scope. It's a good scope for the price, but not near the level of the expensive spotters. Never used their binocs, but i hear good things.

Skinning and fur handling

Clint, I've been working like a maniac lately so i haven't watched much of them. I started watching the 2nd one and got to about where you got that double. (That was pretty dang cool by the way, I'd have been a little pumped myself .) Video is great so far, and the demonstration is one of the reasons I wanted to get them, I just haven't gotten there yet. I'll try and get some time to watch the rest of at least the 2nd one tonight. I definitely need the break -

dang. That buck is friggin awesome. Congrats -
What a bunch of yahoos. Only thing i agree with is the constant use of naked chicks to get their point across! Only kidding. Well, ok, not really. By the way, wonder if there is any leather in those fancy shoes those 2 girls are wearing... Hypocritical idiots.

Sweet. I'll be checking those out for sure! Thanks AzTrapper I'd really like to come down for a demonstration, but I'm a long ways away - Vegas. I might try to time it and do a predator hunt the same weekend maybe with some buddies that live down there though if you guys end up doing it... keep me posted. -

Yeah those guys are alright And in case you were interested, Brad ended up killing a decent buck on the last day of his hunt. Not one of the monsters that the Strip is famous for, but not bad considering how tough of a year it was and what we saw on that hunt. Also, Brad is a sponsor of this site with his outfit, RioSonoraOutfitters.com, so check him out! He does some top notch hunts in Mexico! Congrats again ehunt on an awesome ram! -

If it was over like 100 yards, that would be a "no". Is that a dog in the top of the pic? -
Man I am jealous. I got my FX5 in the mail Monday, and i haven't even used it yet and won't until next weekend at the earliest . Work sucks right now. Over 90 hours this week! Congrats on the cat What sounds did you use?

I saw that a while back on ArcheryTalk. Definitely interesting.

No, you'll just have a $6,000 pair of 20-60's All this coming from a guy who on an elk hunt just has a water bottle shoved in one pocket, and a handfull of shells in the other. Somebody has to take care of you. It's kind of a charity thing i guess

It seems interesting to me, but i've never used one. I was going to but when i started asking around most people told me it made no difference. The few people that said it did help, well, let's just say i considered the source and ended up not trying it -
Well apparently having (2) 65mm's is worth about 2 grand more and twice the weight. Plus a bracket. You always did make plenty of sense dude.

I'm more in line with your thinking on this... hope it works out -
How does that Stone Kote hold up? Does it flake off at all? It leaves a rough texture too right?

What year?

CnS brings up a good point, I'd definitely recommend to go HD with either size.

You know my opinion, man. I have the 80mm, my old man has the 65, and he regularly asks me to look at something or borrow my scope in the mornings and afternoons to check out a buck. This isn't the last few minutes of light either. You're young enough that the weight isn't that huge of a deal unless you plan on doing some backpack hunts. So, IMO, the 80 is better. Is it $400 better? I think so. if you're going to drop that much cash might as go all the way, but you have a situation that might not allow that. I don't think you'll regret getting the 65 and not the 80, but the way i look at it, it's a major investment on something you're going to have for a long time, might as well get the best. Every little bit helps, especially with these Coues.
