Does anyone have any experience with these? (Hanwag Mountain Light GTX) I usually buy a pair of lightweight Salomon or Vasque boots for Coues hunts, which work great, but they normally get torn up in a season or so and the support isn't the greatest. I'm planning a backpack archery deer hunt in Nevada this year and was looking to step up to some better boots that are still light and warm weather minded, but offer a bit more support and last a while longer. These seem to fit the bill perfect (they weigh like 2 lbs a pair) but they better be freaking awesome at that price. I'm also worried that the Vibram sole may be noisy. Any info is appreciated http://lathropandsons.com/catalog/product_.../products_id/63 Thanks, Kevin

Lets See your Loading Bench

Sexy rig man . I like the paint job, a lot. Do you like those pod claws? What is the benefit besides in sandy soil? Do they reduce recoil? Are they heavy? -
I've decided to (finally) start reloading. I've got the press and accessories all picked out, and am starting to round up the components. Trouble is I can't find what i want. Bullets and powder are pretty easy, but i can't find any Nosler 300 RUM brass or Federal 215 Gold Match primers anywhere! Anyone have any leads on either of them? I'd like at least 100 of the brass, and i'd even be willing to buy a small batch of the primers off of someone (I'll make it worth you while ) if they are willing to part with any. I'm wanting to try different primers but am pretty set on the Nosler brass. Any help is appreciated!! Thanks in advance, Kevin

Trouble at the border? I had no idea!
Coues Sniper replied to DesertBull's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
You were supposed to have to have a passport for years now, but this last year was the first time they actually asked for it. They checked all of ours. I don't know how they would keep you out if you had the DL and BC, but it probably wouldn't be worth the headache. I'd get one if I were you . -
Large buck on Ebay
Coues Sniper replied to AZcoues_addict's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Or it could be a buck that a cowboy killed. That's becoming a problem down there; Cowboys see a monster buck - kill it - and sell it for a few thousand dollars to some gringo for some easy money. (who then turn around and try to sell it to some other gringo) People think that just because cowboys don't have Swarovksi's and 300 Ultra mags they can't kill big bucks. B.S.! -

Yeah, I did. Nobody on there can find any either -
Here you go... http://www.gunowners.org/merchrosiet.htm I think I'm gonna get one myself

Although I think Ross is somehow affiliated with Metrao, the Cardiac comes with Winners Choice strings. Absolutely can't go wrong with them. Bucknasty also makes a nice string. Stock strings on the Bowtechs are nice too.

Casey was nice enough to sell me some of his stash which will get me by for a while. As soon as I find some, I'm buying at least 2 or 3 K, that's for sure. I'll let the CW community know when and if I find any as well. Thanks for looking TAM -
Heck of a trophy there man! Congrats

Craig, Make sure you aren't getting any contact on your rest as I'm surprised they are hitting 2" lower. I was getting contact at first but didn't notice as the FOB (apparently) corrected the arrow so quickly. Once I was dialed, my FOB'd arrows were actually impacting a touch higher than my fletched arrows. Shoot them at 40+ yards with some broadheads and I think you will start to see a difference, especially if they are a little out of tune. With field tips there really isn't much of a difference. And thanks for looking for the brass . Word is they (Nosler) are making it now. I think Cabelas will have some in a couple weeks (or so they say ) Kevin

Good to hear from you too man . Glad you got some good info, there are some great people on this board. I called the old man, and he didn't remember much more than i did, but what we did was park one truck down at the pump station, and then park another truck like 5 or 6 miles upriver. We had to hike down this pretty steep hill for a ways to get to the river and there was a pretty good sized tank on top that was full of catfish. We always caught lots of fish, and some pretty big ones too. Pops caught one that had to be pushing 5 lbs . Once you got close to the pump station the fishing got a little slower. Lots of places to camp, and the scenery is awesome, but we ran into snakes (plural) on every trip. The guy to talk to though, if you haven't already, is Wally. He's fished that river a lot. Good luck on your trip, and post some pics. Kevin

Trouble finding components...

I didn't think Norma made 300 RUM (?). I've put the word out on LRH.com, and so far no offers. I think 'ol Casey is going to hook me up with some 215 match's, (probably can't give him a hard time for a while ) so i just need some brass. I have a few empties (which are also Nosler which is another reason i'd like to stick with them) to get me started, but not as many as i'd like. Word is that Nosler is either running 300 RUM next (after 308's) or they are already on them so they should be available within the next month or two. I just want it now Thanks for the help, you guys are awesome. -
You got it bro. I'll put some in with the package I'm already sending you

They work with all drop aways as far as i know, and the weight is pretty much a wash. I've never had any issues with them coming off of the arrow going through brush. I guess it could happen, but i would be surprised.

I'm not sure... Nosler doesn't make 7mm RUM though. -
Eric, Way back in the day (like 20 years ago ) My dad, Ed Knipp, and I used to backpack that river and fish it and we never saw anybody. I think your uncle might have even gone one time. It was pretty sweet, carry camp on your back, keep the last couple fish you caught that day, and cook 'em up that night. Just watch out for snakes. We parked trucks at 2 different spots to make it a one way hike, but I'll never remember where. It was like a 3 day deal. My old man might remember - if you're interested I'll ask him.

Midway, Cabelas, Powder Valley, Lock Stock and Barrel, and even a few places i hadn't heard of are all out of both the brass and primers. You can't even order the brass directly from Nosler It's been like this for months... And you have a PM -
I've seen/heard of this as well. Don't give up hope man!

I started using them last year, and have been very happy with them. Their main advantage is they can steer large broadheads better than vanes (especially in a crosswind) so they are more designed for hunters, but some people use them for 3d and spots also. I have shot both HellRazors and Spitfires with them and they flew great. So far I have only killed a wild pig, but the FOB worked just like it was supposed to and popped off marking the spot were the pig was hit. They are held on by the nock on your arrow so it depends on how tight your nocks fit as to how hard it is to pop the FOB off on a pass through, but that usually isn't much and is probably less than the force needed to drag conventional fletchings through the cavity of an animal anyway so over all penetration should be increased. (I got a complete pass through on my piggie - a 250 lb boar, even went through the offside shoulder ) As Doug said, you can't really shoot groups with them as you can bust them up, but I never shot groups much anyways. Tyson, I'm not sure about that rest, but you could send those guys an email from their website or PM Paul on ArcheryTalk, his screen name is "Paul Morris". They are REALLY good about answering questions like that. And like others have said, Paul's service is absolutely top notch. If you guys want to try some, send me a PM and I'll get you a couple from my stash to try (up to like 2 or 3 people )
