Muzzleloader Coues

Sweet buck man. I like them narrow and tall like that. I have one that goes 99" at only 9" wide - i'll see if i can dig up a picture. -
Big 2 Point!

Well Christian, I think the main problem here is the angle that people are looking at to score that buck. Very hard to tell much about the width. You've seen him alive, so i believe you when you say he's 18". Coues don't get that wide that often, so it's hard for people to their head around. Here's one Brad Fulk killed in '05 that was right at 18" wide. Pretty unique buck. He killed it off one of his ranches in Mexico, and it went 119 and change if memory serves me. -
SWEET buck man. And to share it with your pops like that... too cool. Any chance of you posting the trail cam pics of that 6x???

Scott, I really don't know what to say. I'm so sorry for your family's losses. Prayers and thoughts sent your way.

30-06 long vs short range shooting.
Coues Sniper replied to liviustoica's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
My math with BenBrowns numbers comes up with a drop of 353 inches at 1000 yards. My 300 RUM with 180 scirocco's at 3350 fps is still dropping 230" at 1000. (These are with 100 yard zero, but still) There is no round i know of that drops less than 30" at 1000 yards. Not even close. -
Big 2 Point!

Sadly no other angles of him. I can honestly say that when his ears are layed out he is at least 1.5 inches past each ear if not more. That would do it I have only heard of a handful of Coues that are that wide. Neat buck. -

Congrats on your first deer. Sounds like it was well earned. This is a great place to learn from, with some great guys (and gals) -

Is he really 18? That picture doesn't make him look that wide, but it's a hard angle. Any other angles of him? -
Sounds like you used your head for a wheel chock once or twice...

This is not my picture. Saw it on another site, but couldn't help sharing. Picture is pretty self explanatory. Unbelievable. -

My 300 RUM L-O-V-E-S the 180 grain Scirocco's. I'd go with the 180's as they will have better long range performance.
