Video of Big Buck
Coues Sniper replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
10-15 yards? Must have been awesome to get that close. That's probably the best footage of a big Coues deer I've ever seen Amanda, great work! -

Awesome video Amanda, how far were you and what camera? As far as score, who flipping cares! Whack that sucker and ask questions later! FWIW though, I guess him in the high teens -
Congratulations Scott very cool. I'm not 100% sold on it yet, but the wife likes "Hunter" if we have a boy. (not trying yet though)

Custom Rifle pics for Red Rabit and Coues Sniper
Coues Sniper replied to TAM's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Casey, that's exactly why I was asking Tim. Like I said, they recently told me they are getting them out in 30 days. Thanks Tim. This build won't be light, even with an ABS barrel on it, but I'm trying to maybe shave off a pound or more. It's going to be a real long range rig so a little weight is desirable, but adding up the weight of all the components is scaring me... -
Custom Rifle pics for Red Rabit and Coues Sniper

Sweet, sweet rig TAM. No surprise that thing is shooting well; great components and a good 'Smith equals small groups! She looks great to boot. Have fun tweaking and getting her into the 2's or even better. Keep us posted. And out of curiosity, how long did it take to get that ABS barrel? I'm having a real hot rod of a rig built for me right now and she's getting heavier than I would like. The guy I am using has stayed away from ABS because they couldn't keep orders straight and took forever in the past, but supposedly they have more help now and are saying they can turn barrels around in less than 30 days (once they receive the tube from the mfr). He said they always shot well, they were just terrible to deal with. Thanks -
That's awesome. Great shooting Connor!!!

How many rounds down the tube?

Hunting with Muzzle Brakes
Coues Sniper replied to Lucky One's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
TAM, that info is spot on. The brake will change your barrel harmonics, and most likely your POI, but the rifle performance (group size) and bullet velocity will be unaffected. I'm interested to see your new rig also. It had an ABS barrel and a Predator action if memory serves. (?) For what it's worth, i have never passed on a shot because I didn't have ear protection with me. I always carry plugs in my pack. But there have been times i didn't have time to get my plugs in. That could be fixed if I just wore them around my neck I guess. The only time I've ever had an issue really is if I had some sort of rock or tree to the side of me for the sound to bounce off of. You'll only make that mistake once -
Nice piece... Are those repro's?

I saw that, neat skull. What does he score?

What tricks have you learned from other in camp?
Coues Sniper replied to scoutm's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
One thing I learned from an old hunting buddy years ago was to put a small pile of coals from the fire under your chair on a chilly night while sitting around the campfire. Keeps you from having to get up and warm your back up every few minutes... just make sure your chair ain't plastic . Insanely nice on those cold cold nights -
Thanks! You are Right that is a Wasp Nest. I still enjoy looking at the Pics of your Buck and Mount! You are Right Chris work is artwork at its best. Thanks Dan . I think Chris is putting wasp nest's on all his mounts now. Mine has one, so does yours, and so does a buddy's sheep he did recently. Kind of a signature, or 'Where's Waldo' type thing. Pretty smart idea actually.

That's great news Doug! I have been checking on this thread hoping to hear that he was found, thanks for the update.

Dan, That is just awesome. Gorgeous mount, and and even better buck. Love the height on that deer. Chris's work is truly artwork, and he hit another home run on that mount. Congratulations again on trophy of a lifetime. That form looks familiar as well . And is that a wasps' nest just below where the buck attaches to the wood?

I rest my case........ +1
