Tippy the Ram-Desert Bighorn Sheep AZ
Coues Sniper replied to Jay Scott's topic in Jay Scott Outdoors/Colburn and Scott Outfitters
Good looking sheep! Curious about the nickname? Big congrats to the hunter on a great ram! -
Heck of a shed. No way to tell if it's for sure a Coues, but I see no reason to say it isn't. Just a monster Coues deer. If he matched he could be a high 20's type deer for sure. Sweet find.

Welcome to public land hunting sir. All you can do is pick up cans when you find them, and try to get up earlier and go in farther than the knuckleheads. And I am completely against shooting at unsuspecting game also. A quick "look out!!!" before I shoot is the norm for me, and I find it really levels the playing field. Good on you for being against the whole "being sneaky" thing also. That's for rookies.

They're mine. I'm doing it soley to piss you off. If you've only knocked down 300 then you're lazy. I've easily put up 700. Walk the whole trail to find them all ya sissy.

Way nice!!

Would love to see him alive (and then dead shortly thereafter). What a chunk!
-
Great looking bucks, the beams on yours look massive! Any close up pics? Please?

My first archery coues (long read) added live pics

GREAT buck man. HUGE accomplishment. Did that first shot catch his neck? -
Have you shot one? I'm sure it's a nice bow and all. But it just looks like a modified invasion. 355 with a 6" brace isn't anything earth shattering. Bowtech has the hype thing down pat though. They have people foaming at the mouth for this thing. Never have.just want something different.some friends have talked well of them.what do you like? Hoyts get good reviews also.what's your choice?I don't want an old bow if I can get a new one. I shoot a Bowtech Guardian right now. It's a great bow, just time to upgrade . I've shot the matrix some and have fallen in love with it. Plus I'm getting a good deal. I'm not loyal to any one brand though. And I hear you about having THE new bow . That is admittedly one of the reasons I bought my Guardian.

Great buck. The wavy characteristic to his antlers is very unique. I've never seen it personally. Very cool.

OUTSTANDING buck man. And that broadhead thing is one of the coolest pictures I have ever seen. That is incredible. Congrats on a HUGE, unique, and well earned trophy.

Sweet buck! Would be great to see him with some age and see what his full potential is. But that would be hard to do. I let a buck go that had 3 beams hoping to see him grow up. Never saw him after that year. He was about 105 at the time. Good luck on whatever you decide.

When you get to be Jim's age, your skin gets like leather. Cactus is no problem.

Shame about those brows and beams. Not sure I see 28" of mass. Young deer? -
No. I pick my new Matrix next week I always wait a year or two before picking up a new bow. There's usually bugs to work out and they improve on them. Plus I like others to try them out and get feedback before I drop the $$$.

I have to laugh; I did the same thing to my dads truck when I was 16. Congrats on a great bull. He!! of a shot to finish him too

Congrats man!! Post pics!!

Hahaha! Congrats again Casey. Very good things ahead for you two My best adventure is also an easy one to pick (and hopefully one you will experience soon Case) - the birth of my first huntin buddy! Easton Michael Kearney was born on February 18th of last year and has been a HUGE blessing to me and my wife ever since. He's crawling and pulling himself up on everything now and is going to be a TERROR once he sarts walking. Easy going and calm personality, but tons of energy. What follows is some on my favorites of the eleven-teen billion pictures we have taken Proud, but exhausted, parents My boy! Good looking kid Had a nasty case of RSV at 3 weeks. Spent a week in the hospital, on oxygen for 5 of those days! Scary time. TV, pacifier, hand on junk. Like father, like son! He got his looks from me as the wife obviously still has hers. Naked cowboy. Halloween One of our favorites I'll use some restraint and stop there. As a new father I could go all day with this. Good idea for a thread, I look forward to everyones posts! Kevin

Guys and Gals - I have some like new Sitka Gear that I hate to get rid of, but need the $$$. First up is a Jestream Jacket in Optifade, size XL. This jacket has only been worn once outside, and that was on a 30 minute quad ride and glassing that morning. It's in PERFECT condition. Per Sitka website: Constructed with Gore’s WINDSTOPPER® laminate, the Jetstream Jacket is a no brainer for cool wind protection. Soft shell fabric facing allows a smooth and almost seamless finish, and helps to ward off a light drizzle and snow flurries. A guide’s best friend, this jacket is a treat for glassing sheep on a wind-blown ridge or stalking into a north wind. The Jetstream's new hood this year adds even more funcitonality to an already proven performer in the field. Again - this is a great jacket; the fit, form and function are all outstanding. It is warmer than the other Sitka shells, especially with the Windstopper, but is not a bulky jacket at all. These sell out every year and never pop up on Camofire or similar websites because of that. I hate to part with it, but need to. MSRP is $330, asking $265 firm. Next is a Kelvin Jacket in Optifade, Size Large. This jacket has never been worn outside and is also in PERFECT condition. Basically brand new. Again per Sitka: Lightweight and packable, the Kelvin Jacket has an extreme heat-to-weight ratio. Filled with PrimaLoft® Sport; a synthetic high-loft insulation this jacket is designed to distance the atmospheric climate from your skin. Built for the most extreme and cold situations, the Kelvin is no joke. Designed to layer underneath an appropriate outer shell, the Kelvin is Sitka’s warmest insulating jacket. This jacket is amazingly warm for it's weight. As mentioned above, it's not meant to be an outer layer but to fit underneath their other shells, and is cut to fit this way. With this and a shell, you'd be ready for just about any temps thrown at you. MSRP is $200, asking $150 firm. And last is a pair of Mountain Pants in Optifade, Size 34. Per Sitka: Taking the Ascent Pant to the next level, the new Mountain Pant adds on more features, more aggressive patterning, and more durable fabric. With the guide and hardcore user in mind, we’ve included removable knee pads for stalking, a low profile built in webbing belt that fits underneath your pack’s hip belt, and full size cargo and thigh pockets. For the extended back country trek or the professional hunter, this is your go-to pant. These were worn on a full hunt, but are still in great shape. They did get some Coues blood on them (bonus!), which all came out fine. The knee pads are in perfect condition, as you can see in the pics. These are basically the Ascent pants on steroids, and are ULTRA comfortable. MSRP is $190, asking $100. The Jetstream and Kelvin jackets are basically new and could be given as gifts, the Mountain pants show some wear - I'd give them an 8.5 out of 10. These all sell out every year and for good reason. I would accept Paypal +3%, or checks (once they clear) or money order. Thanks for looking! Kevin

Bring your bow on that pig hunt. Those critters were MADE to archery hunt. Use that as some practice. I had a buddy that flung 22 arrows on the same hunt before he stuck his first pig. Don't think anyone could do much worse than him. We were actually running around recovering his shot arrows, and lending him ours, before he connected. And that shot skipped off a rock. SLOW DOWN when glassing. Since you're a teen I can't reccomend my favorite booze to drown your sorrows after blowing a stalk. But a nice cold Coke Zero is nice after a long day too. And I hope your a LUCKY guy

She's WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY to good looking for you Casey
