Something you might find while shed hunting

Well Jimbo I don't want you to feel left out, I think she dropped your brothers and sister too. In her defense though I think it was just when she was drunk. Now that is funny right there, I don't care who you are. Jim

Something you might find while shed hunting

If you run into Coosefan (Jimbo) ask him to show you what a snake can do to a finger. When he was a teenager, instead of going to the movies or party's, he and a few of his friends would go snake hunt'n and a lot of the time he would take his date with him. Sometimes he would bring a snake home and put them on the counter and let them slither around until he got the message that I didn't want them in the house, then he would take them back out to the desert and let them go. He doesn't pick them up like he used to after the doctor told him that he couldn't get the anti venom again. I don't know if that is true but it did put some fear in him. I think his mother must have dropped him when he was little. Jim

3oowbymag, that I agree with you 100% and it has shocked every one. Also my wife thinks the same about me. They must be taught that from an early age. Jim

    Arizona Elk Society Banquet

3oowbymag, I would never call someone a dumba$$ and I apologize if I led anyone to believe that I did. I did say that they did a dumba$$ job though and I stick to that. I have actually talked to a couple of them in the past and they were very nice guys and I also believe they have a good reputation within the hunting community but it is still what it is. As far as the other points that you make, I pretty much disagree with you on every point and again that my opinion and you have yours. That is what is great about this forum. Jim

    Arizona Elk Society Banquet

One of the first things that a person does when they are planning to bid on an item like the Elk Tag is to introduce themselves to the auctioneer and or to the person that is is charge of the live auction and tell them that they are a serious bidder and to watch for them. That was not done. It was not close to 2 minutes that the auctioneer tried to go from $85k to $90k, it was more like 3 minutes with pauses and a plea to go more than the $85k. The auctioneer did not do the going once, twice bit all night long and usually doesn't so why would anyone think he would do it then. I feel for the wildlife that would have benefitted from that extra amount of money that would have gone to projects and I feel for the client that was hoping to get the auction tag but lost it due to a few guys that did a dumba$$ job of being the bidder. The auctioneer has raised a lot of money for the wildlife here in Arizona and not just by being the auctioneer for a lot of the banquets. He is not perfect as is no one, but he did the right thing and a fantastic job with the tag. JMO Jim

    DECEMBER SUCCESS!!

Jason, good job on the hunt and taking good care of Mr. Ford. I can't tell you how nice it is to be able to have a guide with a hunter and not having to worry about how things are going with the hunt. Because whether your hunter gets to tag an animal or not, everyone knows that you gave that hunter 110%. Congratulations on a job well done and a nice buck as a bonus. Thanks again Jim

    Jumping Jack Trailers

If anyone is interested in the Jumping Jack trailer you can call Levi McClendon @ 602-920-7922 and when he can get at least 3 orders and coordinate with Jumping Jack when they are coming through town you can save about $500 per trailer. He can order it with any extra's that you would like. Jimbo, (Coosefan), has ours in New Mexico now and he put the Rhino on top and said that it pulled great. I ordered the electric brakes on ours because I don't trust his driving. Jim

    Jumping Jack Trailers

I just picked mine up today and the trailer looks very stout and really well built. I will set it up tommorrow to see how that goes. I got their ramps to load the rhino or the prowler on it and the trailer seems like it will do well with it. I met the owner of the company and was impressed. He gave me the impression that he wants to build a quality product and will stand behind it if there is a problem. Jim

    wish me luck!

Congratulations on getting your guides license. Keep in mind that you are going to meet a lot of different people. Some of them you will wonder why in the world they are hunting in the first place and others will become life long friends and that makes it worth it. Try to learn as much as you can about the unit you are in from the other guides and the outfitter. The outfitter should line you out on where to go and how to approach the hunt whether it is the morning or evening hunt. He needs to know where all the guides are going to be working and how the area fits the different guides and hunters and there ability's. You alway's want to have a positive attitude. Attitude and confidence will be the difference between a good hunt or bad hunt whether there is a kill or not. Also pay attention to the hunter as far as his limit's and ability's. You don't want work them out on the first day, take it as far as they are comfortable but you will need to gauge that. That will come with experience. Never ask the client what he wants to do or where he wants to go. You need to have the game plans and options that you can share with your hunter if you want and get his opinion on which one he would like to do. Some hunters like to have some say in it but don't let them make the game plans. There are a lot of other suggestions but the most important is paying attention to the client even at camp. Make sure they have everything they need that your camp can offer. That will help greatly on a good tip from the hunter. Good Luck Jim

Rebuild Water Catchments in Unit 9

You gotta fell sorry for the poor saps that get stuck with me. . I'll try to remember my britches Pops! Jason, I understand that you told someone that you are a bonefide legal Dwarf. I can only speculate what part of your body is a dwarf but it isn't that 6'2" frame of yours. Also while you boy's are up north you should sign up for one or more of the projects. Hard work will give you that fuzzy feeling inside. Thanks Amanda and Allen, I am glad to be here.

Rebuild Water Catchments in Unit 9

MY name is Jim Mullins, (Coosefan's Dad) and this is my first post. I appreciate that Amanda has put this topic on the site. I firmly believe that we as sportsmen should give back to the wildlife and habitat that we get so much enjoyment from. Giving back can be in dollar's spent at a banquet for one of the wildlife organizations or even better, donating time to volunteer on some of these projects. The unit 9 project has been in the works for 5 years and now the physical labor part of the process has begun. It is a great time when people from all over the state meet at a project to work and get something accomplished that benefits wildlife and the habitat. As a thank you to the volunteers, there are 4 rifles and 2 bows that will be raffled off to the volunteers that work on the project. All that you need to do is to work a weekend and your name goes into the hat. Every time you work on the project, your name goes in. They are spliiting the prizes, 2 rifles and 1 bow to the Arizona Elk Society and 2 rifles and 1 bow to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation And it doesn't matter if you are affiliated with either of these organizations, the only thing that matters is that you volunteer your time to the project. I am a newly elected Board Member of the Arizona Elk Society and we all know that the volunteer is the life blood and backbone to any organization. If any of the CouesWhitetail.com members have Elk tags and would like to pick some more helpful hints on hunting Elk, the AES is putting on an all day seminar on the 19th at the El Zaribah Shrine Auditorium. Some great speakers and vendors will be there and lots of door prizes as well. You can go to the AES web site for more information or call Kathi @ 480-882-9477 for tickets. Thanks Jim
