Was that your camera?
shortpants replied to shortpants's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
the camera was only a foot off the ground so I think it took a picture of my boots. They also have a chain wrapped around the camera right over the lens. I'm curious as to what kind of pics this person is getting. -
Spent the Day out looking
shortpants replied to CouesFanatic's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
This is my favorite time of year to scout for coues. While their in velvet they seem to stay out of the real thick stuff and their in bachelor groups. Right after they shed their velvet they'll get harder to find. They will still be in the area for the most part but your bigger bucks will start seperating from eachother and some may move some distance. Depending on the year in late Dec. they will become more active. Some Dec. hunts I've been on there was no sign of thr rut at all. Keep scouting and good luck. -
Hunt of a Lifetime

Like Coosefan (Jim) stated Mullins Guide Service will do anything they can to help. I'm ''IN'' Jim! Hey TLH good luck on that muzz. tag. I don't think I'll be in unit 1 this year but if I hear anything I'll keep you in mind. -
Anyone have any stories from this weekend?
shortpants replied to matthewp45's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I missed a coyote on sat. evening. Saw lots of elk but no shooter bulls. That burn area in 22n has really grown up the past few years. Another 5 years or so and it will be to thick to hunt in there anymore. -
shed antlers are totally legal and if you have a rack there are different stipulations that go along with that one is to have a tag with it thanks CRB.

Well...I wish I was goin huntin' with you all.....
shortpants replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Hey Jim, best of luck to you. I wish I was going. Don't worry about the business, you've got a good team here to handle the B.S.(is that the proper abbreviation for business?) If you want I'll stop in and check on your wife too cause that's the kind of friend I am and I just want you to enjoy yourself. Can't wait for to here about it! -
that one in the lower right corner is the smallest moose antler I've ever seen!

could you post the measurements?

I'm goin scouting somewhere this weekend but I still don't know where yet. Here's a little advice if you ever plan on booking a guided hunt somewhere, book early. That way your guide has enough time to scout your hunt. While I was typing this I just got a phone call from my good buddy Matt Mullins. I'm going to 22n this weekend to scout an early bull hunt!!!!!

dang......i didn't need to hear that right before i go to bed. I had the same thing happen to me Antelope hunting in 10 a few years ago. It was a smaller 8-legged hairy freak that climbed into my lap though....he's no longer with us. I remember that day everytime I see one or even when I hear the name, now I will dream about it. THANKS, jim. OH, and Shortypants...don't get any ideas now that my phobia's are out in the open. You find one of them "bugs" and mess with me......I'll tell everyone how you REALLY got your name There's a critter in yer splitter!!!! I can't wait to sit next to you and glass in Oct. Just don't go screamin like a school girl and scare my Booner Buck away!

Anyone seen this before? PICS.....
shortpants replied to GRONG's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
I've seen it a whole bunch of times at the petting zoo! -
Great pics! Don't get discouraged yet, like you said it was the first scouting trip. If they were that easy to find it would'nt be hunting. The harder you hunt the bigger the reward! (reward has nothing to do with antler size.)

"In my opinion" I don't see how you expect everyone to have the same capabilities and limitations. Not everybody who plays baseball is a major leaguer but that does'nt mean just because your not in the major leagues your not just as good. It comes down to knowing what you can and can't do. Never try to be better than anyone but yourself. I would kill everything at 3ft. if i could. I'm a hunter. It's my passion. I can't write the script on my hunts. All I can do is be as good as I can be and know when to draw the line. If I hunt my a$$ off for two weeks and on the last evening I get the break I've been looking for, ( a shot at my quarry in my comfortable range,) you can bet your gut pile I'm going to attempt to harvest that animal. If everybody had the attitude that we should set boundries that should never be crossed, a 40yd. bow shot would be the impossible. Our equipment would never get any better. Just my 0.2c

The only time it's ever been a problem is when he had athletes foot. Got an itch right as I pulled the trigger. Blew the horn off a good lookin coues that day.Never did understand how somebody like Jim could get athletes foot? He aint much of an athlete! Just kidden Jimbo.

Like R.R. said a rear rest makes a big difference! Most guys will sandbag the front and rear of their rifles on the bench but never think twice about a rear support in the field. As far as how I keep it steady, I usually sit on Coosfan's lap and put my barrel through his toes!

Yes, he was run over by some loser on drugs while riding his bike over to my house.

You gotta fell sorry for the poor saps that get stuck with me. . I'll try to remember my britches Pops! -
There's a whole lot of statements being made on here that are being construed as facts. We are all entitled to our opinions but no matter how much we think we're right, let's all keep in mind that they are only opinions. The things I do know are facts are if you think the only people lucky enough to win a raffle tag you need to see Chappell's new elk video. The raffle tag hunt is on there with none other than Mullins Outfitters and the lucky tag holder Aaron Stringer. I was one of the cameramen on that hunt so I can tell you first hand Aaron spent less money on that tag than you ever will for an elk tag! The look on his face when Jim asked him ''what time it was'' is priceless! I also know for a fact that if any of you can actually prove to me that azgfd or any other organization is stealing money from me and my fellow hunters, I will personaly lead the Lynch Mob to their doorstep. Until then I will keep my faith that our money ''is'' working for our beloved game. I will not start or spread conspiricy theories. I do believe you should question everything but until you get the answers to your questions, you should not speek as if you are educated on the matter. I will also change my underwear every day!
