Camp wood burns every 5 years or so in some place. Besides the deer herd up there is not in very good shape anyways. Before all the limited opp elk hunts came about it was a hidden gem for archery deer hunting. Now its crowded and the deer are not as plentiful. Hence only 175 deer tags in 17a.

Im in the same boat as far as finding a new broadhead. I was disgusted with how soft and fragile the muzzy 100s I was shooting are. Am trying out the magnus stingers for my bull hunt this year. Hopefully they are as good and lethal as the reviews are saying. They sure do tune and shoot very well so far.

Getting ready for the early archery hunt. Who else is double and triple checking gear and hoping the weather changes in time for a good rut? My target is gonna be dead after switching to broadheads for exact tuning.

I scored a large bagged ice freezer for free and put racks in it for hanging meat as well as a refrigerator thermostate. Works great and can fit at least 3 elk no problem.

Well put. If people read the rules regarding grazing and what is the law /not the law. You will find ranchers break the rules. Our own state senator Steve Peirce posted state land as private property around his ranch and claims to be for hunters. Check out the state land in chino valley on 3 north and reed road and you will find 3 times the allotted horses permited on state land grazing state land. Horses are not livestock per usda. Unfortunately the good old boy ranchers are way better then the yuppy let me build my house and complain about others crowd.

If these guys are as good as they say maybe they can get these burro and wild horse hunts going as well as let us locals get rid of the invasion of buffalo in the grand canyon. Or better yet stop housing developments in prime hunting spots. I preffer the douchebag rancher over the yuppy invasion that wants to change everything!

The first thing i noticed is that you keep saying forest service when actually the department of agriculture is who regulates grazing rights. And that is a dead end battle. Research the regulations on grazing rights and you will find every rancher abuses the rules just based on the amount of horses allowed to graze per allotted sections. I dont agree on everything ranchers do but I see a trend of the old boys dying off and the family selling land/wildlife habitat to developers and making alot more of a mess than a few grazing violations.

Saw a group of 5 does last week and they all had fawns with them. The most i have seen at once in a long time. If I had time i would be looking for coyotes on the deepwell ranch. They are not shy.
