Where you hunting today (this month) and how is it looking so far??
Zeke-BE replied to azcoyote's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Unit 24E Take the left at Lake Michigan road, go past the Red Maple trees, then a mile to Cactus Valley. Glass that area and you will see snow leopards, some moose, and if you get at the water hole a 200" mule deer will be there -

Rollercoaster Elk (Squirrel & Coyote too) Hunt
Zeke-BE replied to lancetkenyon's topic in Elk Hunting
Sweet story! Sounds like your unit attracts a lot of dirt bags out there. Still it looked like a lot of fun, plus those are the largest squirrels I have ever seen. -
Tikka! I have. .270 shooting 1/2 MOA at 3000 fps. Nailed my couse this year right through the heart at 400 yards. I can center plate a 10" plate at 750 yards. ( I haven't shot farther than that). It's light weight but the one thing these savage guys fail to say is the the a tikka bolt is one of the smoothest out there. If your shooting 300 win mag or 7mm get a break and a limbsaver but stock pad. I don't have a break on mine but it's only a .270 but the limbsaver is very nice.

Land owners and the future of hunting in NM
Zeke-BE replied to Red Sparky's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I hope not. I've been eyeing NM many times for some hunts. The other year I nailed a antelope. If I have to pay more than what I did I won't be going -

Bergers FAILED me horribly
Zeke-BE replied to joelpresmyk8's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I'm not really too familiar with A-Max but I hear they compete side by side with accuracy against the Berger. But refresh my memory I thought A-Max were just target rounds but everybody uses them because they mushroom up so well . I seen pictures on another site awhile ago showing the amax devastation shots from 300 to 600 yards. Looks like they perform great. About to load some 210 Bergers but this thread and my buddy 30-378 did the same thing on his last 2 elk hunts. So he switched to serria. I know I'm hijacking the thread but with any more info on the Amax that would be awesome -
Awesome country! Good looking buck

New rifle caliber choice? You tell me!
Zeke-BE replied to joelpresmyk8's topic in Long Range Shooting
7mm or 300 win are good choices. If you want to buy a heavy bullet lets say 200 or 215 grain your better off in a 300 win mag. If your going to get a 7mm rem make sure you reload. Lots of factory rounds really don't out perform the .270. If you reload there are 4-5 powders that can get you maybe around 150-200 fps faster than a .270. With factory a lot of them are shooting 2800-3000 fps kind of odd with that size do brass and powder capacity. If you reload you can make them far more superior than factory around then they are worth it. For myself I bought a 300 win Mag and I'm developing and elk load as well in the 200-210 grain. Serria, Berger and nosler Accurbonds can push those rounds out about 2800-2900 fps. If you like 300 weathybe they shoot great, but always cost you an arm and a leg. Realistically you are only getting about 50-100 fps faster with a 300'wethy than a 300 win mag. Make more since with the win mag. Just my 2 cents -
My belief is that Nosler is just promoting and trying to up their sales. ( like any business would naturally do). But if they promote it enough and performs enough it can catch on. It's easier to say 28 Nosler, than say an uncommon wild cat 7mm ultra Mag. His reminds me of when Remington developed the 6mm remington. It actually performs better than the Winchester 243, (by about 150 fps faster) so why not is remington making more 6mm? At that time Winchester did a better time in advertising it lot more than remington and it stuck. Remington eventually pulled it off the market and the trusty ol .243 is still in the game. It's a great round but if you look at competitions you can see there are a lot more 6mm winning those competitions then .243

I have a yamaha rhino with a back bench and a roll cage that fits over it. I keep hearing people saying that it is illegal or they're going to make it illegal to have the back bench. But yeah I have had nobody ever show or truly explain if it really has passed or's just hearsay and talk. Does anyone know for a fact hat if it is legal without saying they heard it from a friends friend but really know the truth and where to find this law?? Thanks guys
