What's with all the clowning on cyber scouters?
Zeke-BE replied to KingJeff187's topic in Elk Hunting
Welcome to CWT.com! What most people like to see if someone here takes this seriously. Not make a profile, and make their very first post is where can I go in a unit. First day I signed up I notice a lot of people put a lot of work into their scouts and hunt. So people need to understand some of us are sensitive to that. But once you join up and commenting and showing interest with the fourm people will start helping out more. I probably posted 80 post and comments before I asked for help in a specific unit. And all I asked is how to hunt burned areas in a specific unit. Lots of people help out. We love hunters but hunters with common courtesy for the hard work others put in. I'm glad you joined up and let's see a cool avatar and we will be hearing from you soon -
Looking good guys and gal

I'm in the process of building a load for my 300 WinMag. I have Berger 210s but I've heard enough stories and have a buddy who himself had 2 occasions that his berger 210s did not expand. I know people swear by them but I've been scared off. Hornady has these new non melt tips that are more superior. The 208 EDL match is supposed to be replacing the Amax. I've heard only good things from people on other sites and this site talk about the Amax. But I guess the Amax wasn't a hunting round but is still performs very well. Supposedly they have the 200 and 212 ELD x for hunting but I dint know this nor was there any around. If the Amax was good should I just go ahead and load these for hunting?

Doing lots of research on the Match graded bullets and everybody says the same thing firstcousewas80! They kill but the dogs always run off and then pile. But I havent heard of one bad thing of the 60 grain VMax. So im going a little lighter than i wanted to and i went ahead and bought 2 boxes of 60 grain VMax. Hopefully ill will show the results in a couple of weeks.

It's time to re load some nice yote rounds. I only used my AR colt 6940 for shooting and plinking. But now I want to use it as a varmint gun. My question is that I want to use a heavier round 69-77 grain bullet. Do I need to be concern with the pressure for an AR because I need to keep the coal mag length with a heavier bullet? I know bolts will stick, but I am bit scared to damage my gun if to hot and not realizing it until it's to late

Do you guys like the smk and Hornady hpbt match for coyotes?
-
I didn't see 69 smk today. I'll look somewhere else tomorrow. Any ideas ?
-
I don't think I'll get that exactly since I'm shooting the 16" barrel

My barrel twist is 1 in 7

That is so awesome

I can't remember when do antelope start dropping?? I want to head north and preserve the heards and call some yotes? Or did I miss the drops?

Way to go!!!!

Lance will chime in soon. He has spent many hours behind these. He rated the euros right below the swarc! I took his advice and for glass that matched the swarc expect the outer rim is ever so slightly dimmer then the swarc. So I went and bought the 15s euros and they are fantastic and half the cost of the 15 swarc.

I just finished mine. If the field day is in phx or Mesa that list won't last more than 24 hours. You need to check the online daily! Daily!!!!!!!!!! Once you see it jump on ASAP

Go for looks! Nothing is nicer when you have hardwood trees on your property. Ash will usually grow 2-3 ft a year. They are hardy and good looking. When trimmed properly they look even better. I have a fan tex ash, a Bradford Pear, and a Chinese red push. Also a Chinese pistachio with an another fan text ash in the back yard. My house will look like I'm from back east during fall. The bradford pear has a fiery red fall color with white flowers for spring. But it's more brittle and it will be topped out as a tree in 15 years. You can also go with cottonwood. Needs more water but they sound like aspens in the wind and nice gold fall colors. Do us all a favor don't plant Palos Verdes or mesquite trees. I was born in raised in the phx valley and I hate desert land scape.

Exactly !!!! Most thief's break in during the day and they are not set up to steel a 300-600 lb safe or going to risk smacking it with an ax, crowbar and make lots of noise. Almost all thief's are amateurs and won't know how to break in. If someone picked it and got inside......... Well he was going to get that anyways

Maybe not to high. I do see a oak tree right behind it

That's some high elevation for that beast. I see some Douglas furs in the background. I know they are up that high but few .

Hornady ELD Match vs ELD X (hunter)
Zeke-BE replied to Zeke-BE's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Good read. Sounds like amax (EDL match) blow up more like ballistic tips and the EDL hunter comes apart from the jacket -
Nosler long range accubond vs accubonds
Zeke-BE replied to lionhunter's topic in Long Range Shooting
I'm hitting center plat at 750 yards with my tikka .270 accubond. Killed anterlope at 300 yard, double lunged and went 5 ft. A mule deer at 300 yards double lunged and went 10 ft, and a 400 yard couse shot through the heart tore a quarter of the heart out, destroyed a lung and exited with a 2-1/2 hole. He dropped at 10 ft and. A day later my buddy use my rifel to shoot his couse at 260 yards quarter away and dropped him in his track with a 2-1/2" hole exit . From my research they over achieve (accurbond long range) at long range targets. Meaning they are accurate and expanding very well. They underachieve at close range. Meaning they don't really expand at high velocity. Again this is me reporting what other people have said according to the research I've seen -
Nice bucks! I'm in 37b a lot. There can be days you don't see anything and days you see a good handful. More often I don't see anything.
