Out of the 500-650 dollar range rifles the tikka is hands down the better gun. You won't find a bolt smoother then that unless you buy a 800-1000 dollar sako or a custom action. I haven't heard of anyone who doesn't shoot Sub MOA. (there could be a few but not much). Down side they are limited some of their cartridge actions and they don't sell everything in the US yet. Also not as many aftermarket stuff like compared to the Remington and Savage are. They only come in long action too. I wish tikka did more, but im patient!! Still my favorite out of the box rifle by far!!!!

I knew a guy in Montana who did the same thing. He was only 16 with a 30-30 and ran out of bullets. Ran up the side of the wounded deer and clubbed the deer breaking the stock of the gun. Deer lays flat but doesn't die so he tries to cut its throat. Doesn't work he runs and gets his quad and he was to small to get the buck on the quad by himself so he tied it up and dragged it to camp. His dad said he never felt so bad for a deer before. He put it out of its memory. This was in the Mid 90s he still has the broken gun hanging on his fire place. Your buddy is one crazy dude!

Specs??? What brand, and weight are you looking at?? Im shooting the 208 ELD-m Hornady exactly 3000 fps 1/2 MOA. Heavy is what you want if you want long range. Lots of people do well with the 210 Bergers too. I thought about trying the LR Accubond for the 300, but Ive seen some strange things with the LR Accubonds for the .270 and the 6.5 mm. -
Free bump!!! The ELDs are still pretty new so not everyone is shooting them right now. But would like to see this thread keep going

400 yards is now easy to me. Practicing at a 1000 has been helping. Just this last weekend my brother hunt, they were shooting at a rabbit at 500 yards. They don't shoot long range and since they got "close" to it they thinks its pretty easy. I got into a big debate with them about it how its stupid to shoot that far when they have no practice or set other then a good idea to hold over. My brother said " i disagree"!!!! What!!!!! I started telling him all the physics of a bullets path and windage issues and you cant just take a guess ( maybe on a coyote sure). Later that day I got them on a deer (from the raido) 200 yards and he missed twice! Well he goes over the hill after it and finds another buck (now out of my view) and his buddy shoots at it 650 yards. They come back and say they barley shot over its back, and after a few more question on their shot they told me it landed over its back buy his butt side. Really! If you landed that shot you would of hit it on the hind leg, would of ran off and probably suffer to death. That's the last time Im helping them out!

Helping out my brother on his deer hunt in unit 33. 150 yards with a .270 i was hiking with. 30 min later we glassed up another one 600 yards. Took a bit to set up and find him. Once I did he finally took off.

Chris funny that you were texting me while I was setting my brothers friend up on a deer. Then the next day my wife calls me and Im radioing my brother into a deer ( he shot twice and missed) while talking to my wife all at the same time

I never measured my eld-m on my 300 win mag. Just to the length of my magazine for a reaper. But I had to shorten the OAL for a better grouping

My Brother sent me this text today. He said its his friend who shot it and they claim 134-1/4". I asked if he is on the forum or not, and he said it was okay to post the pic. But I don't think he is on the forum.
