CWT group effort Wildcat Rifle build
Zeke-BE replied to Zeke-BE's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
So I took it out to the range shooting the first fire forms. Started off shooting 200 yards. Just started a load development of 3 shot groups of H-1000 of 57 grain- 61.2 grain. I set the Coal to the length of the magazine because I knew it would be a hunting repeater so I didn't bother starting just touching the Lands. Also shooting the ELD-x 143 and I notice from my 300 win mag and Creedmoor that these ELDs love shooting away from the Lands unlike Bergers. 6.5 143 ELD-x Nosler Brass Fed 210 M primer (ill probably switch to mag primers on the next one) Annealing brass, this is my second time and I think i got it down now. Every load was shooting sub MOA except for one and I think it was shooters error I was getting 3050-3150 on some of my top loads with no signs of pressure. Im going to do some fine tuning and see if i can get this to be a 0.5 MOA and less round. Also Im going to do a ladder test to check out H4831 and ImR 7828SSc to see what velocity I can get out of her. -
I like rifle coues and achery mule

Funny these pics were on my I pad and they are crystal clear pics and then I send it on here and they look blurry. But I have already shot this scope on a Creedmoor shooting 2500 fps out to 1,364 yards at 61 moa and making a 1 foot group. Let my brother and dad shoot it which they both haven't shot in years and couldn't believe we were hitting target that far out there shot after shot. Picture was nice and clear. You will notice it clearness is at 4.5-25 power and at 29 power its not as clear as 24 but still really good.

I was looking into a Steiner and a Kahles scope but really hating the price. I had the money but just didn't want to give it out on a scope around 3k. I posted about Steiner's and Chris (Douglas gun guy) texted me about these new Athlon Cronus. They are new to the market so one thing they are doing is keeping prices down to get into the market. They were half the cost of a Kahles and had lots of good reviews. Only good reviews! Now they are new so there are not hundreds of reveiws but they are good. They even have a youtube tracking video and the tracking was spot on! I was almost asleep when Chris text me and once I got on to look at it I was hooked. Went to bed around midnight instead. And in the morning I ordered one. I have owned this Cronus for a couple of months now and really like it. Glass is awesome and I compared it to a guy who was shooting a Schmeit and Bender and I thought it was right there with it. Now I only looked through his for a minute though. But he looked through mine a little longer and played with the turrets and was quite impressed with it. Yesterday I was shooting at 200 yards with a Vortex Pst 6.5-24 x50 and at 24 power I couldn't see any of my holes and for a couple shots I thought I missed paper. Pulled of the Cronus and set it at 24 power to compare and it was like magic! I mean the bullet holes looked big and black and stood out. Looked back through the PST and they disappear. 4.5-29x56 Athlon Cronus I got the Seekins 34mm rings for the 1" height so I barely made it with this Bartlien Barrel #3 and a 56mm lens scope Life time guaranteed and I believe it goes to new owner as well after a private sale Here is the daytime Illumination set on 29 power After my load development I was planning on sending this over to Lance and ask him to do a review against his other high end optics. But Im glad he buying one now and im still asking Lance when he gets it if he can do one of his detail write ups for us CWT memebers The only thing I wish it could be different was a tighter (skinny) reticles to shoot those fly wings off and the weight! Its high quality glass from Japan so this thing is heavy. But right with there with the other 3k scopes though. My other pic with my cronus didn't load up but with rings and scope it was 2lbs 8oz vs the Vortex 1lb 19oz But yeah contact Chris as listed on Lances post via website. Plus 4.5 power is still great for close shots and 29 power, well that solves my spotting scope issue

Bad for business!! They need to own up! They did a study in sales for business and its call the 3-11 rule. Usually people tend to see the negative in things so on average when there is a bad business deal people tend to complain to an average 11 people. When a business does something good people tend to tell only 3 people on average. Customer service is key in that type of business and everything else. Sorry about the mount

Browning makes one in a long range rifle 1000 dollars or so, Ruger Predator is another one over 1,000. Savage would be your best bet for that price range. I don't like savage from cosmetic look and feel but they always shoot true!! Tikka has one but its the CTR tactical model and a 1000 dollars as well. You can go to Bear Mountain and order a Tikka 6.5x55 since they are long actions for the price you are looking at. I've loved the tikkas and bought a .270 in 2003 when they were still trying to get a foot hold on the market. Stomp44 turned that into a 6.5x.270 AI. The action is one of the best, the bolts as Stomp says rarely need to be trued and the triggers are usually really nice. I wish Tikka would get on the band wagon and make a few more calibers available in the US. They have chambers listed but don't always send those over here. They also need to get smart and make some 600 dollar 6.5 creedmore rifles as well. I can't wait so Ive been looking for a tikka acton and im going to build a 6.5 creedmoor rifle. They make great rifles but upset they don't make any 26" barrels

I went to New Orleans this year and they call it Nor-Lens, or Na-Lens and hate it being called New--Or--Lens. Even though it is pronounce New-Or-Lens it is accepted by culture now and a way of life for the ones who now live there. Arizona hunters its the same. You can call it the right way if you want, but if you hunt with me you call it Coues Cu-ues and not Cowzs.
