Good Luck! Welcome to real hunting!!!

I was planning on Central to some of those units west of Casper. Should that be ok? I wasn't going to be putting in for the prime Units like 60 and 61 but it sounds like those got hammered?

I saw it this morning. Didnt realize it was April fools today. If they keep taking about it afterwards I guess its real

West Fork might never open. There are talks but not sure. You can hike in there but no vehicles The valley in there and camps didnt get touch. But the surrounding areas burned bad. Very depressing coming from Big Lake down to West Fork. (been camping there since I was 6 months old according to my parents) With all rain it floods into some areas in the First crossing. If you remember where the Camp Host camped at that whole area is under boulders and rocks. But the rest of the camps are perfect. Still kind of neat going through there and seeing peoples stacks of fire wood still there since the fire

One of Wyoming Educational youtube vids on the site for 2017 stated fawns, old deer, and weak deer and maybe some mature deer would be the victims this season

Thats good to know. Wish 2 hunt thats what I thought. If your going to hunt it, it be better to do it know before you feel the long term affects

We now live in a day in age that kids don't commit to things. Its very common for children to want to play a sport and through mid season they are burnt out on it and want to quit. If he was committed at first they need to follow through when its over. Every sport i played mid season I was done mentally. Next year I was doing it again because of the love of the sport. On such a big hunt Im the type of person that says you are going! Everything else Ill go at their speed of desire, but if they commit Im making sure as a parent Im doing my job!!!!

I think in the 90s there was a bull elk on the news that got stuck in the canal. They had to saw the antlers off for travel safety while they took him back up north

Budget? How often will your wife shoot it? If its just the wife's and she shoots it 20 rounds a year before the hunt and not reaching out past 350 yards a standard 250-500 dollar range scope will work. If she shoots 4-5 times a year roughly 60-150 rounds a year maybe look into a Sightron, vortex pst or something in that 800-1000 dollar range. -

Ha ha ha! It took me a second for me to catch on

Everybody says don't do it. I was at the range on some other loads but went ahead and did my ladder test at 200 yards. Everything shot within a 3" group. It was really hard to interpret what the bullets where doing. Stick with a longer range
-
Because the guys who love them are turning animals inside out under 600 yards shooting big magnums. the longer range shots on smaller game they blow right threw with not enough energy to do massive damage. but elk are thick enough skinned heavier boned the vids open. I'm am sold on using the eldx we have killed elk deer bears all with a 6.5 eldx all in the 700 yards plus the opens the way its suppose to every time. Got to find that happy medium between energy and bullet expansion! very strange you can't get eldx to group what is your load? Ive been all over with the 300 using the H1000. I got it to 3/4" to 1-1/4" groupings which are not bad but its sensitive. Stray a .5 grain it will not group. Same thing with my 6.5 ELDx they are all over. H1000 79 grains 0.836 MOA 3,040 fps After a while barrel was getting thick and caused more pressure up to 3,100 fps. Now am backing off to 77-78 grains and trying to find a load but cant get less then .75 MOA. For the hunting world .75 is great and Im not complaining, but it takes more work to find that sweet spot for these ELDs. Bergers take me half the amount of shooting to find a great load. But Im holding out for these ELDs because for some reason trust them working very well on ELk.

^^^^ This I had this same discussion and I messaged Lance about this concern. I went with the Euros and Im very happy with them 15s! As Lance states above you save a thousand dollars for something that is maybe 3% behind Swaros. Its a no brainer to me

Smokem!!! -
There is a lot of reports of Bergers not working right as, not expanding at long range, blowing up smaller animals, but also lots of great reports with no issues. I think we hear more of these bullets not working right because I believe most people love to reload with them because they shoot so accurate. Just lot more Bergers out there being shot. With the ELD-x and ELD-m I haven't heard of any news yet. The ELD-M is supposed to be a new tip on the AMAX and everyone had great reports with the AMAX on game kills. But Im having a hard time to get these ELD's to group .5MOA while its lot easier to get that with Bergers. Im sure if people were shooting these ELDs as much as Bergers we would hear some bad reports. With the Hybrids they are not game bullets so there are really not a lot of reports on them. But the people who do use them on game have had great results from what I read, and I wouldn't have a problem using them on game at all. I would shoot some of each and see what your gun likes.
