  1. Food For Thought! If you could (or have) build a complete custom or semi custom yote gun what would it be? I know the .223, 220 swift, 22-250, 243 are great guns NO DOUBT, but im talking about complete over haul of what you think would be awesome. Ive read about 22-250 AI with a fast twist rifle, 22 Creedmoor, I just read about Handloader mag about a wildcat 257 creedmoor thats pushing 100 g 3,150 ps (great deer and yote gun). Ive read 22-243, and 243 AI with a fast twist barrel for long range yotes with heavy 105g. Also other neat competition rifles set up as 6x47 laupe,6 creedmoor, 6 Dasher shooting 75 g AMax, .250-3000 AI using on yotes.
  2. Ok I see it!! Thanks I didn't know anything about that. And that is another bad sign of pressure right??

    Boy Scouts of America

Im glad for this! Im over the Varisty Scout 14-15 years olds. Five years ago I was over the 12-13 year old Boy Scouts. Man!!! Scouts has changed since I was a kid. I help severed this position and only stayed in it because it was still better then nothing, but my beliefs in the BSA and how it works especially in the LDS community well basically I just didn't believe in it any more. I have said this before in other post in the past but the main thing I focus on with Varsity Scouts is to Bring young men into Christ, teach them life skills, teach them how to respect and love the out doors, show service to their fellow man, how to be a real man, father, and husband. I stopped following the BSA guild lines years ago. There are better ways to help out the youth. This is a good step forward, sucks it came to this and all the red tape in Scouts these days

    Trout Fishing this past weekend

There are a few lakes in this state that hold some really good quality trout. The trouble is getting them to bite. I tend to stay away from the Rim lakes and head further east to the White Mountains. A lot less people and the fishing is in my opinion a lot better for quality Thats a good lake for nice size browns too
  7. Do you have a picture of the Ejector Mark? Im getting better at signs of pressure but I've had a few test loads with a tiny creator on the primer and the next .5 grain I'll blow the primer. So any more education would help thanks

    Ultimate Coyote Gun

That would be cool! If I remember the 22-250 AI is almost identical to the 22 Creedmoor. Not knocking you AI I have a 6.5-270 AI but the 22 creedmoor would save on the fire form though

    Spot Lighting

Im taking the Varsity Scouts this summer by Big Lake and planning on doing spot lighting with them. Its been 15 years since Ive been spot lighting. What are some good spot lights or LED lights that can reach out and touch. Im not afraid of a little money either. If I get one Ill end up using it more on the family summer camp outs

    Optics System Choice

Depending on terrain but 90% of it usually exceeds 300 yards and out. You usually only have so much ground right in front of you close and the rest is out from 300 yards to a 1 mile. Doesn't take long to look at the 100 -200 yard spots but if your setting up to be glassing like all of us here you will be sitting in you spot for 15-60 mins glassing. That being said I usually carry just 15s with me. Only a couple of times I wish I had 10s but I will use 15s about 98% of the time. As little as I use it not worth the extra weight. As for spotters I haven't been in a unit that I glass up multiple large bucks in one hunt, for me to get picky about. If I glass up a buck from 1300 yards and he looks big in my 15s, guess what?? He probably is a really good shooter. Once I get a tag for the BAB maybe Ill get a spotter and be picky. This doesn't mean I dont want a spotter but I probably wont hike in with it though.
  21. So with the RL 22 I heard its temp sensitive. This entirely means what exactly ??

    300 WM 208 ELD-M load

Well months later my gun still acted weird!!! As you can see in my last post back in October those are some great groupings and velocity. Still a learning curve for me. Once I thought it was fine and loaded up more loads it wouldn't group any more. Changed it again and again the H1000 just didn't like my 300 win mag. I swear I have the only 300 win mag that doesn't like H1000!! Even the loads it did like the barrel now being fowled my velocity really increased. Sticky bolt and blown primers. Once 2800 fps and 2900 low loads are now 3,050 fps. I just got tired of messing with this. I loaded up with some low loads of H1000 but went ahead and got some IMR 7828ssc before I tried the low loads of H1000 My best load is about 200 fps slower then what I've been shooting before but its the tightest group I have ever shot!! Last week I shot the same load and got .71 MOA and the slight different loads from 1 grain off were still with in 1" MOA. So fare this is the only round that has been consistent But what about those low loads of the H1000?? Well after the first 2 shots the rest of them wouldn't allow me to close the bolt. Ahhhh!!! So now I've been home pulling those rounds and resizing and trimming brass!! Ive been good double checking before but I don't know why these brass got away from me I was aiming for good groupings and great velocity but I guess you really can't beat 0.222 MOA. Hopefully I can pull that off again, and see how she does farther out
  23. Awhile ago I bought a long range 26" heavy barrel Remington rifle. It just sat there for a year. I never had time to get to it, plus I wanted to put a break on it before I did anything, so it just sat. I never even shot a round out of it. The gun smith who put a muzzle break on it was the first guy to shoot it. Well I grabbed 208 grain ELD-M because they didn't have any of the 212 ELD-X at the time. Now there are plenty of them around. But from what I've seen the new ELD-M are near the same as Amaxs but with the new tip. If you have heard other wise please comment. But now im ready to see what it can do. Remington rifle 700 300 win mag H-1000 powder COAL- 3.608 which is 0.025 off the lands and this keeps me inside the magazine 208 grain ELD-M Hornady Hornady Brass I started off at --73 grains ave. 2712 fps --74 grains ave. 2780 fps -- 74.5 2805 fps -- 75 2850 fps --75.5 2868 -- 76 2880 This above was shot up in Flagstaff in July and my groupings were so bad. Then I realize my scope came loose But thats ok because I'm looking for a hot round to be busting on Elk Yesterday I shot --76.5 -2910 with a 1" group and a flyer --77 2925 with a large group --77.5 2930 1.6" groups --78 2963 with a bad 2" group and today I reshot 78.5, 79, and 79.5 to see if I can improve the grouping Here is 78.5 grain. This was my second best My number 1 spot! My hot round 79.5 I have my shots listed on there too. 1-4 for speed. Notice the 79.5 slew down.??????? Then I load 1 round at 80 grains to see how far my gun will go. It shot at 3050 fps. Huh??? it shot about the same as the 79 grain. Now grant it it was only one shot, but I remember loading it, it was up to the top of the shoulder of the brass. No sticky bolt, no pressure signs that I can see, but im no pro at pin pointing pressure signs. So Im going with 79 grain pushing 3050 fps with a 0.836 group. Now the next question to you guys is what else can I do to bring the grouping in. Im planning on doing a load test with shortening the COAL and see if I can improve my shot and move it out to 200 yards to see what comes of it. Any extra help would be great.
  24. Thats a big bullet going super fast
  25. I was hoping for your guys insight mainly out of curiosity and for knowledge. What are the pros for these new rounds? I heard they are pretty similar to other rounds but I've read 33 Nosler does the same as a 338 Lapue but with less powder. Any insight would be awesome
