Went out this morning. Yesterday I thought Ill put a some 2 hole straps on the side of my truck and use the beach umbrella and a work fan. Fan was nice, but it ever so slightly vibrated the truck. I did it on the ground and worked great but I was out by myself and some of my 800 yard shots I couldn't here hits on steel because of the fan. So if you have a spotter it would work great! This was a good group at 522 yards. My cold bore was a total of 7 inch. I've found out that when I shoot over 20 rounds my cold bore starts drifting left always about 2-3 inches and when warmed up it shoots lights out. But when I give it a good cleaning, my cold bore is back on track. But seriously every time I go out and shoot this gun I have to clean it or my cold bores will shot wild!

No rifle is 6.5-270 AI. I would be shocked if a 6.5-284 is pushing a 147 grain more than 2950. I can shoot the 143 ELDx at 3180 and be around 1"-1.25". But I settle for 3100 for tighter groups. But the 147 are more consistent. I could of kept going with my load but for the sake of time I need this rifle ready for a goat hunt. just curious why did you go 6.5-270AI over a 6.5-06AI? being that atleast in standard not akley the 6.5-06 is more common Couple reason! One I like being different or having something that most people don't have. Another reason I like the .270 over a 30-06, and when you do the AI the .270 has longer necks, so a little bit better with seating. Also the Neck on a 30-06 to a 6.5 (308- .264 =0.044 difference and the .270= 0.013 so the .270 win has a lot less to be necked down and that keeps it from having any donuts and neck turning which saves me time. But from alot of help from CWT members guiding me through this, I had to shave down the shell holder to fit a .270 neck into the 6.5-06 AI. I don't know how to put links on here but if you search "CWT group effort rifle build" you can see my write up on it.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Myyyyyyyyy!!!! You just took this to another level! Just when I thought I was cool now this. I need to plan doing something like this. I do have a weekend warrior so I can put the ramp down. Then I would have a nice bed to lay on and shoot. Just don't shoot your truck 5 guys

That is why I need to clean it, because fouled cold bores it will shoot strait left, not up or down, or right just strait left 2-4"s. If cleaned cold bore is dead on. Once fired and barrel is slightly warm it shoots true.
-
Hmmmmmm well that's 2 ELD m right there that are wanting clean cold bores
-
I think Im answering this right but I don't do a fouling shot. I make sure my cold bore is cleaned! Once the barrel gets fouled and its a cold bore shot I can be off up to 4 inches. I was going nuts with it. But once it warms up it shoots lights out. Every time I shoot cold bore with a clean barrel bullet is true!!! This will get annoying after a while and R 23 with the 142 SMk worked good on some test rounds. I might try those in the future after this season to see if I don't have these crazy cold bore shots like with these 147 ELDms. But I got this 147 g ELD m, BC 0.697, 6.5 mm shooting at 3059 fps. That's going to do a number right there!!

I got my first choice!!!! 30B Its a hard unit to find a place to hunt but I got a spot that you have to hike into and had a nice 90 inch buck there a couple of years. Hopefully he is still there and bigger!!!!!

Zeke-BE replied to hempland's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
As 300rum suggested just take a drive! Im from gilbert too and it takes me 1 hour and 25 mins to get to Black Mountain and that is central of the unit. Its a big unit and low numbers of mule deer. But every time I go out quail hunting I see a buck on the way in or out. -
Well like you guys said human error!! All my notes were dead on but one thing. My Zero!!!!!! What happen was the rifle was sighted in at 200 yards with the 143 ELD-x shooitng 3105 fps. I was trying the .697 BC 147 ELD-m with the same groupings but at 3014 fps. At this speed this bullet will still out perform in Ballistics compared to the 143s at 3100 fps. But when I was testing the load at was 100 yards for groupings and looking at my shots they were dead on target at 100 yards not considering that the rifle is already sight in for 200 yards for the 143s but realistically for the 147s its shooting zero was already perfectly set up at 100. Once I changed my zero I got the results I needed. But Im going between Hornady and Shooter and see which one i like better
-
WOW!!! You got some great rifles there shooting tight!!!
-
Too Late!!!! Hornady is my go to now!
-
Well I sent out the correct one. I got one going to the blue envelope address and the correct one to Carefree address. Hopefully they process the correct one first before they realize there is another one out there and hope it doesn't mess things up
-
Well Im giving up on shooter app. I bought the Hornady ballistic app and it is spot on with my current drops. I also shot my creedmoor up there and shooter was 2 MOA off. Hornady app was dead on
-
Even if I do fix this is there a way to adjust the drops on this App
-
Stomp I have the G1 listed with the right BC. But I left Min Vel at 0.00. Then there is another second row with BC and Min Vel. Im I doing something wrong or not imputting something?
-
My zero is set for 200 yards. But on the spread sheet it shows it at 250 yards. I don't know why.

Ohhhhh crap i did the same thing. Just sent it out. Im going to mail in another one right now hopefully it works
