Quail hunting brought an unexpected Sight.

I'm more impressed with the 26 quail. These days a party of people with that much at the end of the season is very rare. -

Pima County opposes predator hunt on county lands

I don't care!!!!! Get together or hunt, we better not even take one step closer to being like california anti hunts groups. Everyone kill a yote this weekend ! -
I have Nikons 12s. I like them for in field hunting. But want the 15s for the 2hour, long range Glassing !
-
Give it a shot and let us know the results:)

I actually messed up once and called in and the lady just switched it right there, and I got drawn for the correct unit that year

I've been enjoying the up dates! As a religious man I know I shouldn't covet thy neighbor rifle, but this thread isn't helping me!
-
Why oh why can't these be 15s???

I use the vortex but it heavy. I just accept it because I like standing and Glassing more than sitting and the weight keeps it there in the wind. I used to do the cheaper lighter brands for years and can only use them sitting down. I've found out I like the standing better. Much easier on my back for those long Glassing periods. Vortex tripods are around 150-200 bones

No reason to waste just jerky it if you don't like the natural taste. But if someone wants it real bad and I already enough jerky I don't see a problem. There must be a reason why you want this meat. I have never eatin javalina but most people say it's gross. So what's you secret? Is it your preparation or do you just like the Plane-O meat of it?

68 yards wow. It's your scope! Put your gun on a gun bench rest and take out your bolt and bore sight it. Put that bore on the target and see how far off your cross hairs are. I'm not a savage fan but I can't deny they are truly accurate guns and real easy to up grade, so the cheaper route is probably a scope, but check those scope rings first.

I have a tikka .270 with a Vortex Viper scope. I love my gun. Just this year an Antelope and a mule right at 300 yards for both. Check you mounts on your scope. Sometimes either to tight or not enough will cause you to hit off paper on 2 shots and the third to be on paper. Your loads if you hand load. I was working on a load and I would hit paper with a 1-1/2" spread and the third would just miss paper. It was real strange. My load is now set up on 1" grouping at 200 yards and scope is sighted in for 300 yards. I'll hit a tennis ball all day at 300 and been hitting steel out to 600 yards. But a huge factor is how you were position when you took the shot. If you just took a knee and shooting with no support out to 300 yard with buck fever you will have a grouping of 5 feet. So what's the details on the missed shots??? If you had a bipod and it was 150 yards in a prone position then you might have a scope mount related problem? Let us know if you decide to buy a new rifle for the fun of it

Apache7mm how about you hook me up on a Rez hunt? . Good looking buck

Unfortunately no pig or pictures. We had deer and javilana tags. This morning we were chasing a buck that was rutting hard. No shot opportunity. Heading back past the Border Patrol 20ft heigh camra this agent jumps out and shows us on their infrared camra where the pigs were. Almost cheating! Found them on the map and went after them. Sneaky buggers we couldn't find them! But thank form the help BP!!!!
-
I would like to see that! Could you imagine game and fish officer coming up to a group of agents and give the person a citation. Rumors will spread through border patrol "can't trust game and fish". This is like a police officer pulling over a fire truck going 5 mph over the speed limit on a non call. The agent that helped me was doing their job, we just walked by and the agent told us where they last spotted them. Looked at the screen less than a minute and pointed them out. Even with their location we still couldn't find them. Thanks for the help BP and as always if I see illegals I'll call it in. Most BP agents I in counter where real nice. The few Game and Fish officers I've encounter treat you like a criminal ( never been ticketed for anything if anybody was wondering). I also had a friend witness a potential poaching and called it in, in the warden was treating him like he was a poacher and demanded certain answers and demanded that he met with him. He just told him; well this conversation makes me not want to ever call in and help you guys out.

Been doing a lot of research on the Bab lately, but then I got thinking I don't think I've have ever heard of anyone ever nabbing mule deer up in the alpines of Mt Baldly or San fransico peaks. I know there are lots of big muleys up in the alpines of Utah and Colorado, but has anyone heard or hunted our limited Alpines in Arizona?

The eye guards on the left is sweet looking!!!!

You should European mount that buck

Hey guys I've never hunted the Bab, but I'm really wanting to in the future. How many points does it usually take to do the early hunt? Also how many points does it take for the Archery hunt? I thought Ill try this and just get the left over tag so I can still hunt that year. Any info would be great!!
-
Lance, but what if it's a really big 2 Pointer??? It better be 26"+. I have actually seen a few 26-30+" forkies up on the Bab. It just kills me to see all the small immature bucks taken every year up there when I am fortunate enough to draw a tag. And on opening day. While I totally respect meat hunting, and understand that meat in the freezer is a true priority, you could do that in just about any unit out there other than the Kaibab, and usually a lot closer to most people's home, especially on a rifle hunt. But any deer with a bow is a trophy in my opinion. I have taken a few younger deer with my bow as well. Sure are tasty and tender. If it would get drawn out of rifle I would wait till the last day. Archery is another story. I'll shoot good size forkers but not the first day. Depending on the first day I would have no problem take one the second day.

Would you say if I did just that, that I could put stalks on bucks daily if I'm not chasing big deer? I'll go for little bucks, but bigger than forkers with my bow. If it was a rifle hunt I would wait it out. I haven't got anything that big yet in your avatar, so I'm ok working my way up with bucks and put a few more under the belt.
