Awesome story! First and only one I've seen was on a quail hunt in 37b by Black mountain. I was 70 yards out while my buddy came up to that thick Mexican hay grass ( I think that's the name) and he stopped dead in his tracks. He saw fur and herd wrestling in the grass. On the back side which he couldn't see popped out a mountain lion high tailing it out of there. Once I told him what it was he was freaking out that he got 5 ft to one and still couldn't tell what it was. That's why NOW I walk through that grass wih my finger close to the trigger.!

I was watching a mountain goat hunting video once. The guy shot it and fell 5 ft. He turned around for the camera and started choking up and crying about the success he had. While doing that you can start to see his mountain goat starting to roll down the mountain. By the time the camera man pointed it out and he turned around this goat already fell down the mountain a 100 yards. It was all beat up.

You can't call yourself a hunter if you've never spent enough time in a blind to want some headphones.It's a true statement akaspecials.....if you have spent days in a blind or on a stand it does get boring. I used to read a book while sitting but started leaving the books at camp last year because I get into the book and then don't pay close enough attention to the task at hand (hunting). Ha ha ha I can can see nature girl now! Sitting in her blind reading Harry Potter as she says " stupid 110" buck I'm in the middle of Harry's and Lord Voldermort dual figh! Why now!! " I would too be to distracted

I don't know about fishy! There have been a few little kids who wandered off from camps by Big Lake area in the past and they find them only 50-150 yards from camp. The forest cuts out sounds and hard to find. Unfortunately they found them dead from exposure from the elements. That's so sad. This summer I'm going to be up there and my 2 year old likes to take off every where. My eyes are going to be glued on them. Prayers for the family and hope for a miracle that they can find a five-year-old.

I'm glad your dog is ok! Crazy story! You should post this to PETA but they probably wouldn't believe you! Why would a hunter love their pets they would ask!

Ok leave the barrel alone. I haven't developed a load yet. So where would be a good place to get a muzzle break and what is the cost? Do I also need to wait and flute the bolt before I develop a load? I want to flute the bolt only because it looks cool

I honestly believe 50% of the population including the hunting population are retards, no common since, no courytesy, and a quarter of them have no morals and are thieves. I've come across a lot of slack jock yokels that just give us hunters bad names. From the field and the archery and shooting range I've seen them. I know it's prejudging but usually within a few minutes being close to these people you know that's the type of person that stealing your cameras. But on the bright side I've met more great people out in the hunting Fields and shooting ranges that are stand up people and loving parents. Sorry about the camera. But on a funny note I've never ran across a camera yet and I just can't wait, because when that person looks through his pictures they are going to see a bright white butt!!! So if you guys get that from cameras in the future that's a courtesy from Zeke BE!,!!!!!

Like what everybody says get the muscle memory down! That means the basic principle of shooting. Whatever that means to you, but to me it's like a professional sport professional practice and practice on his basic principle. Then they will do a scrimmage, AKA shooting in all conditions, fatigue, kneeling, quick draw. None of that will come to you until you get the basic muscle memory. After that you need to find out what your real range is. My first shot at the range will be my farthest shot. For example I'll start off at 70 yards. If I can hit that on my very first shot basically means I'm not good enough to shoot at an animal that far. So next time I'll try at 60 yards for my first shot. Let's say I hit that with my very first shot, so now I know this is my range for me to shoot at an animal confidently. If you want 70 yards to be your father's shot then you need to keep practicing until you can hit it every time on your very first shot. Just my 2 cents

Game and fish web site will give you good places to start. Half this site will tell you to look on there other side of the unit, and he other half will say the same thing but on the opposite side. Pick a spot where you can be close,to both animals and scout like crazy
