Great looking martian you took in 24a. My dad and I were UFO hunters in 20C five or so years ago and harvested two great tasting martians aslo!

M77, Is your charter boat the expection to letting the fisherman keep the tuna instead of selling the tuna at auction? If so, sounds like a boat I WOULD fish when/if I get to Hawaii. What is the name of your charter?

Archery HUNTS!!! Some food for thought.
trophyhnter replied to Becker's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I like that idea but my dad still rifle hunts at 76 yrs young, lets keep at least one tag for him. "Its all about the Benjamins"....I think the rifle hunts generate more revenure for deer. Wait I rifle hunt if drawn but I always by an OTC archery tag. Pretty sure that most archers also rifle hunt but not sure the opposite is true. Either way I don't think its mostly about the deer as they are a means to an end (budget revenue) but rather its about the rifle tags revenue exceeds OTC tags revenues. So if you have to piss in someones cornflakes.....archers get the golden stream. It would be nice to see manatory reporting for all species and all modes of hunting but I think G&F use the lack of 100% report(amoung other things) to fudge tags numbers to meet the budget revenue requirements. -
Apache7mm, Thanks for the reply. Hopefully the council can come up with a feasible solution to the water management issue but from what I understand, water right are a very complicated issue with very little room for negotiation as downstream water rights owners (as a group) will never agree on most things especially on reduced water allotments! Hopefully removing the silt deposits will increase the holding capacity of the dam such that the water requirements will not exceed the new dam capacity for many years to come (assuming the lake will ever fill up to that level before the silt is redeposited again). Complicated for sure! Who manages the dam/water release levels?

I think the lion would have the same reaction and pass on this one!
-
That really sucks! Does anyone know why the water is always lowered to extreme levels? Are water rights below the dam the cause or is it poor management of a "renewable" resource?

Good job! Looks like a lot of fun! I go to San Diego to fish for them when they get close enough of a 1.5 day trip. I thought the boats owned the tuna you catch and sold them to Japan?

You can also email the photo to Amanda and she will post it for you.

Great cam! The bear was pretty close before the elk ran.......I wish they would wait around that long when I have a tag! Thanks for sharing!

My brother and I had slingshots and BB guns that we chased everything that we could find. Fishing was my true passion at the time but over the years my dad would tell us all of his hunting stories which only fueled the fire. When we were in high school my brother prompted my father to ask a church friend to take him out so we could tag alone. Well he forgot his tag and had to go into town to get a duplicate on openning day and he has not stopped forgetting something since! He taught me the old school stuff of walking and walking and hoping you can find something and shooting an iron sight lever action 30/30. We have had countless GREAT DAYS around the campfire telling stories and poking fun at each other in spite of a harvest! As the years have gone on I have taught my dad and older brother and others a lot about patience, glassing, stocking, and shooting!!! I am proud of that because I have spent a lot of time hunting by myself because no one could go! I tag along on all of my dads hunts as his "guide". I now rifle hunt (mostly archery hunted before) and we rifle hunt deer together.....I have been blessed to spend time in the outdoors with great company and now all my dad talks about getting to hunt this my two boys who are 8.5 months and 2 yrs 4 months old! I CANNOT wait for that day but I CAN wait as my dad and I still have a lot memories to make before then!

whats your effective range?
trophyhnter replied to soccerstar2013's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Mathews Legacy 60lbs. My effictive range depends on how much I practice. Most years I starting shooting 2 to 3 months before I hunt. My comfort zone with deer sized and bigger animals is 55 yards (50 pin on the back). I practice further but its for the fun of it. On a side note, I have seen some people group arrow 6" to 8" from 80 to 100 yards at the range which is pretty cool to me!
