    Field Judging Muleys

The second photo I posted is the buck I arrowed in 08 on the Strip. He grossed 197" and netted 191 2/8" officially. That's what I thought......Maybe we can get you to post the "after" pic that is in your avatar or another harvest pic. Awesome buck for sure and I'm dreaming of one day getting one like that!

    Field Judging Muleys

+1 on what BOHNTR said, not because I am good and field judging but because I have personally seen and held deer that looked huge to me! The two that come to mind are an early Kiabab hunt that we had in 05. The buck was a 4x4 with a width of 27" (measured by G&F), deep tall forks, and good mass. They said it would score 180 plus/minus 5! I can say that it was HUGE in my eyes and I likely would have said is was 200" if I had seen it on the hoof. My friend shoot a 31" (measured by G&F) 4x4 that green scored 197 and some change (late Kiabab '11). The difference between the two is night and day. I would say that a buck that takes your breath away is a very accurate statement of a true giant!) I would like to post pics of both but the hunters do not like thier photos on the web! Bohnter, How much did the buck you shot during the archery hunt on the strip score? Its a dandy!
  4. I know there already is a thread on this subject but I wanted to give people hope and though it might get lost in the other long thread! Anyway, I have been checking my CC everyday since people were posting their charges! I've checked everyday first thing in the morning, at 1 ish, and after 6 pm with on charges pending! I gave up hope Thursday night after checking at 8 ish pm. Well I just checked again because I am a gluten for punishment and BOO YA!!!!!! $69.50 charge from AZ G&F! The weird thing is that charge was dated 7/18 so I'm not sure why it was not showing up until today. The CC is through CITI so if you have the same bank, you may still have a chance! Keep the faith.

    Attractant

Interesting point about sugar. No sure if your serious but the first thing that came to mind was.... "our sole purpose for scouting, baiting, and trail cameras is the kill an animal, so what's a little tooth decay"

    Bartlett Flatheads

Great article Tony. Back in the day, my brother and I would rent a boat at Roosevelt in late may. We would catch some bluegils and carp near the marina and head up the salt river in hopes of catching a gaint flathead. It was alot of fun but we mostly caught huge carp and channel catfish as we would give up on the live fish and fish mudpuppies and night crawlers. We did manage some flatheads over the years but not the huge models that the lake is known for. The good ol' days! On a side note, I have seen big flathead come to the shoreline at night. In some cases their doral fin was exposed when I tuned on the light to see them.

Were you watching the available funds balance the whole time (even on the 17th?). If it's dated the 18th, then in all likelihood the funds actually left the acount on that date, but weren't reflected in a listed charge. Did you select the option that specifically identifies "pending only" charges? I looked at the available funds and all charges. No pending charges. Not sure why not but I did not call costumer service as it was late night when I checked.

    Trail Cam Video&Pics

Cool video. Lions are always cools to see! Not too surprised that more mule deer are hitting the water. A lot of elk usually means not a lot of elk!

    22 tag holder

WOW. That alot of mounts.....most have cost two fortunes!!!!! Greats Pics.
  23. Well things are not looking good for my dad and I as my credit card has not been charged for a tag. Several years ago I did some glassing for my friends on a leftover tag. Well I was shocked at the number of deer and the size of the deer! If you didn't draw a tag this year, don't give up! Get a leftover tag and scout because it may payoff. Scouting Best Buck of the Hunt During the hunt we saw some big bucks but could not connect except on a big fork! Good luck to all!

JUST CHECKED AND I HAVE A CHARGE FROM G&F.......MY DAD AND I ARE GOING DEER HUNTING! Since I had given up hope, I was looking forward to one more point and getting a leftover tag........If its a whitey rut hunt, Im going to flip out! I hope it wasn't the 3rd thru 5th choices! Nah, happy either way, hunting with pops one more year......priceless!

Personal ethics saved this bucks life. The buck could have been legally taken (rifle) but we were close to the ranchers property line. This gentlemen allowed us access through his property to state land where we were hunting with the stipulation that we not hunt on or near his property because he had cattle in that pasture that watered at the ranch. It was the last day of the hunt and we saw them on our last stop to glass as we drove back to camp! Before we came home we thanked the rancher for giving us access and told him about what we saw and where. You could see by the expression on his face that we made the right decision. I think the remaining tag holder justified passing on this buck (after much deliberation) because several hours earlier we were waiting for one of two big bucks to stand up out of a drainage but we were too close and one of us moved (its was not me) so running shots were taken. It just was not meant to be!
