First Coues deer for a friend!
trophyhnter replied to az_shooter's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Great buck! I love coues hunting but Im a sucker for a giant muley also! Love the archery dec/jan hunting when you can hunt both and in the same general area if you know where to look! -
Great bucks and story! Sounds like a lot of fun! Way to get it done and not let "little" things like school get in the way of hunting with the family! I remember my dad had a heated converation with a new asst. principal in high school about us hunting! My dad could have had my mom call in and say we were sick but instead told him what we were going to do. The asst prin didnt think that hunting was a good reason to miss school! Well my dad did think it was a good idea (we missed a friday only) and we went after coues in unit 23 many many years ago!

You cannot beat the rut hunt in the desert during dec and jan! Shhhh don't tell everyone about the trophy hunts that can be had every year! Looking forward the the video of this hunt! When is it coming?

Look that the G&F webpage and you will find deer in all the place they tell you about! Sevenmile wash area is a good area. In 24b, the supersitiion mountions are a great place to get away from people and see deer! Unit 22 from the ballantine trial to mt ord to the rim are all good place. Unit 23, any place off the road to young can be great! All pretty general but they you will find deer! -
Great story! Great to hear stories of hunting with your mentors! Congrats on both your bucks!
-
Great buck! Way to get it done! Im sure the taxy will make it a great mount regardless! On the other hand, you did not waist any meat what so ever! Win Win! Im a little jealous but like you I try to be 90% skill 10 % luck! I will take 90% luck 10% skill when I can get it!
