If i read the judgement right the first judge that ruled in Wagners favor said that no actual vilation occured. GF is horriible, starting with a draw system that does not work and a corrupt director that has nothing to do with the Wagner case.

Some forests in Az you can drive where ever you want, when you want, as long as you are not causing habitat damage. Do not need to be on a road in the Apache Sitgraves forest. And people don't think we need restrictions

I've seen this as well, two years ago in January I ran into a game officer in the field. He asked me if I had seen anything since they had just finished their deer survey and had seen very few deer. I asked him if rifle tags were going to be reduced since their deer survey showed such a low population and he immediately got defensive and said "oh no, the ratios still have to be maintained". One of the stupidest things I've heard. No doubt most of what G&F does is manage hunters not wildlife. I like most of the changes that are being proposed this year, if you are going to give 800 rifle tags away then I'd rather they split in two 400 hunts. You are never going to please everyone no matter what. Last I checked we only kill bucks in AZ (except the kaibab) so more tags does not hurt the doe population which dictates the direction the population is going. There is a bigger reason the population is going down than all the tags. Now all the tags makes hunting suck as there are people every where but not the main reason deer populations are shrinking. Drought, habitat, human development all goes into it. Your absoutely right in that GF manages hunters, not wildlife. Last time i looked at the hunt guidelines, for deer, its 20(something like that) bucks to 100 does. Thats one buck for every doe, GF has told me in AZ, the bare minimum to breed all does is like 7 bucks to 100 does, so I wouldnt say the ratios are screwed up. The doe population is what is hurting. How do do they fix that? Great question. If you have too many bucks, some where in that one buck for every 2 does the competition during the rut is very intense, which is good but then (specifically for elk) every one would complain about all the busted antlers as they would be fighting all the time. Its always a two way street. Everyone wants less tags but then every one complains when they dont get drawn. I'm not sure where, if there is, a happy medium exists.

It always amazes me how little people know how the draw system works.

Under your scenario you do not have a chance at drawing your first choice as you will draw your second choice in the bonus pass round.

Wolf on the north rim
Northern Pintail replied to JustinB's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I do not know if this animal was moved there but I do know that there was a mountain lion killed in Connecticut who was traced through DNA to be born in South Dakota. If they can move that far, this is a very easy trip for a wolf -
Public land, but maybe you should inform eveyone to the actual amount of area you are hunting. Is it 2 square miles you have claim to or maybe it is just 1 ? Maybe put up some road closure signs sayingTHIS IS MY HUNTING AREA STAY OUT ... and if you busted your butt hiking and are still close enough to roads to be bitching about road hunters you should have hiked off the roads and into wilderness. If there are roads you will find road hunters nothing new there.. Ever been to 3C? There is no place in 3C that is farther than 3/4 of a mile from a road so no option of hiking away from roads or into a wilderness. The Apache-Sitgreaves forest is open travel so a person can drive any where at any time for any reason, off road included, and be legal. A travel management plan is needed on this forest but people believe they are losing access to their forest because they cant have a road every 1/4 mile. But I do agree with you that there is no such thing as claiming an area.

This is another example of why GF does what it does. There were THREE people at the meeting. If WE want something to be changed or managed differently we need to attend these meetings. Most of you are going to say they don't listen, fine, but they don't have the chance if we don't attend. There are more people complaining on here than will probably go to all the meetings combined. I'm not a fan of every thing they do they are going by what we agree to every year, and that is the guidelines. I believe its a very, very small percentage of hunters in this state that feel like the bull to cow ratio, or buck to doe ratios are not being managed right. Would I like to see more bulls, bucks, of course, but I do enjoy hunting every year. If we wanted to push the issue I believe the best way would to do another survey, like they did several years ago, and see what the results are again, but with more defined questions and not so vague.

I think what BC777 is trying to do is a good thing but here is a side of it that no one has brought up yet and that is insurance bulls. This happens every year and more than most would like to admit too. An insurance bull is where someone shoots a decent bull, leaves in in hopes of killing a bigger one then coming back later in the hunt to claim it as if they looked for it the entire time. As the good sportsmen you all are I know its a hard thing to swallow that extra bulls get killed for no reason but I promise you it happens. the only way I can see it from being prevented is someone taking that bull out of the field (has to be gf by law) which will prevent a person from coming back and picking it up. I'm not a fan of gf selling all these antlers that someone can prove they shot and looked for but the best thing I can come up with is if someone shoots a bull, cant find it within the day they should call gf in case someone else does find it before they do. In my mind if I wounded a bull, told the local game "worden" where and when and that bull turns up, I have every right to it. Now if gf decides to keep it i'll fight em for it but it seems like a better option than possibly allowing insurance bulls to lay out there.

I agree they need to put more signs out but the problem is within 5 minutes of them being put up they get run over or pulled out and you dont even know if its open or closed. Although the map is a hinderence it is really the best way

Yes you can use your license that expires on dec 31 2014 for the spring draw in 2015. As long as your current license is valid on the deadline day you're good to go. and as always you need a current license when your hunting so if you get drawn for spring 15 you'll need to buy a valid one to hunt. Its pretty simple, especially for those of us that apply and hunt for everything as we'll always have a current license. As for if you need the old one in possession that's a great question. The 365 day thing is great, especially for those that just fish, or decide they want to fish in July, they aren't wasting a half year on something they cant get back

You can carry both and be legal. Game and Fish realized thats its unconstitutional to prohibit a person to carry a legal weapon. You have to shoot what ever animal with the correct weapon type but can carry any weapon. This is a change from previous rules.
