He has not been caught but the last sighting was at Timber camp in 24A. He got spooked and left all his gear behind except his pistol. I can't believe he'll make it very long after losing his stuff.

Antelope is draw only in AZ. Deadline was in February. I'm not sure there is OTC rifle in any state. You can get left overs in Wyoming here real soon. NM might be your best for land owner tags.

Advice on how to input my daughter for rifle deer tag
Northern Pintail replied to BigDaddyDMD's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
No she does not have to go to a camp if she draws a youth hunt. There is typically free food though!! Another tweak that I didn't see someone mention is putting a whitetail hunt 3rd choice that usually has left overs. If she doesn't draw a youth tag with first two choices that gives her a great chance with a 3rd choice. Some of those units down south are great for new hunters as they'll see a ton of deer and buck size for a new hunter usually doesn't matter. If that plan doesn't work hopefully you draw and can give her yours. -
Nope. Its all based on age. Has nothing to do with score, curl, nut size, etc.

I think its starting to ramp up. I've seen some toms alone but also hen groups with a couple toms. Bluedevil, for the most part turkeys are lazy. Being they like to fly straight into a tree from a hill, not up into a tree. In most of Northern AZ they prefer larger pines to roost in so when combining the two look for areas with large trees and topography. Our birds don't like to be in large meadows like you see on tv from the eastern states. You'll see them once in awhile but they don't typically hangout in the middle of meadows. hope it helps a bit

I had to look also and yes they were discounted in the book

Heard up to woods will open this week but past that will remain closed as there are still 3 foot snow drifts.

No... actually has nothing to do with antlers. But what is used to buy and sell. $$$

Most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Lol Everything in this state that has to do with water is cumulative. Aquifers, resevoirs, stock tanks. We'll just agree to disagree. For those things yes you're right. Probably the first time I've ever agreed with bonecollector777 but for antler growth precipitation 6 months ago doesn't matter.

More than I can count. It took 8 points to guarantee a 3c deer tag last year and they listened to us on wanting it to be managed different.

How many of you have you supplied comments on the new guidelines? Specifically deer? Reason I ask is wms have to go by the guidelines in recommending tags. You're all complaining about tag numbers but have done nothing to change what they manage for. I say specifically deer because we don't hunt does south of the canyon. If the guideline is to have 40:100 bucks and there are 50:100 they have to issue more tags. But then again it's easier to complain on the Web.

It's not gossip. Wm independent had it on there webpage. 4 something warrants were served Lots of things seized

They still do. They just split 3a and 4b

You'll never draw a late hunt with a 3,4 or 5th choice. It amazes me every year how few people know how the draw works.
-
Simple answer is yes you can. But there is no reason to. It doesn't do anything for ya. When your random number comes up in both the bonus pass and 1 2 pass they look at both your choices. If there are not tags available for your first choice they will look to see if there are tags for your second. Being you had the same hunt number you will get a tag based on your first choice or not drawn because of the same hunt number. The only reason I can see putting first and second the same is if that's the hunt you want to take a long shot on but want a tag so put 3,4, and 5th choices as limited opp hunts that usually have left over tags. Losing bonus points is what makes most avoid playing that game.

Colorado has a great website for finding the information you're looking for, along with maps, hunt success, draw rates, migratory routes. Just dig into it and decide what kind of hunt you want (Archery, rifle/time of year). once you determine when and how you want to hunt that will help you narrow down where you should start applying.

5 points for a juniors cow hunt in 23.
-
It doesn't give the option to purchase when buying a bonus point but it wouldn't make sense to buy point guard when just getting a point. Otherwise I don't know what the issue would be.

Lance is right but don't fill it out until he leaves the deer at camp and has left for phoenix

The first hunt gets 7 days, then the second hunt gets 7 day, then both hunts start again until the end. Usually the first hunt is best as its closest to the "rut" but the entire spring turkey season is in the breading time frame. Just the farther you get in the year the higher the chance the toms are with hens and less receptive to coming to calls.

Is it possible to hunt elk each year as an AZ resi?
Northern Pintail replied to teej89's topic in Elk Hunting
The way our draw works it is possible to draw a bull tag every year but it won't happen. You can gurantee drawing a tag every year but it would be a limited opportunity cow unit. Like mentioned before there are otc hunts, and people are successful guiding clients every year, but the otc areas aren't very large and the elk even farther in between. Do not move to az for the hunting/fishing opportunity, it's rough. Rough in the fact of getting tags is very difficult. Once you have a tag it's good though. Small game and waterfowl is well below average compared to other states. Public land is abundant though, which is always a plus. -
This guy is in new mexico (at least according to his profile)... thus different dates

To all the archery "hunters" in 24A (Pinal Mt Area)
Northern Pintail replied to whiteeye's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Not sure why that surprises you.... I would bet 70% of tag holders in this state do everything you mentioned. Let them. It helps those that get off the road.
