    Hit A Snag

whats a good non NSAID to take? Or are you referring to narcotic pills? No I personally won't take narcotic pills unless absolutely necessary. Acetaminophen is a non-nsaid,and I've been advised to take Tylenol, not aspirin or ibuprofen, for these kind of issues

One thing to keep in mind about taking nsaids, like ibuprofen, is that they can dramatically increase the time for your bones to repair themselves.if you're getting shin splints, there's a high probability that you are also getting tiny cracks in your tibia(pretty much pre-stress fractures) and taking nsaids can increase the chance they dont heal fully with your normal rest period and develop into full stress fractures.I made that mistake, and have been told that taking non-nsaids for those particular sets of problems is a much smarter way to go.

Bike and swim,I'm coming off of stress fractures in my tibia as a result of pushing thru shin splints, so I'd suggest being very careful with those too,8 weeks of no weight or running is no fun. Biking has kept my cardio decent at least, but I won't make that mistake again, doc said I wouldve snapped my tibia while running within the next week or 2.

Need opinions on a new sidearm

I'd say something like a keltec pf9 would fit your needs pretty well.a 9mm with Solid flat nose bullets should be plenty for the bears here.it might be a tad snappy, but I know smaller women that handle em no problem.plus they're under 300 bucks and the ones I've been around have been very reliable.

    bear hunting dangerous?

Jeremiah,I'm not trying to dissuade you from hunting bear at all.bears are not out there trying to get you.all I'm saying is that there are situations, however unlikely, that can occur where it can be dangerous, for example a wounded bear,a sow with cubs, surprising one,or a bear that has lost its fear of humans.I've experienced all the above and it can be a little hairy.it would be wise to realize that these things can happen, and just keep in mind how you'd react to them.then go hunt and don't worry about it.it doesn't take 50 years of experience to know these basics about bears.

    bear hunting dangerous?

I've never heard a group of hunters have such low regard for respecting the animals we hunt.it is really unbelievable to me that I'm getting bashed on for it! If we have different opinions,so be it,but having respect for nature is something all hunters should have in common! Having respect isnt a 'superior opinion', but ir is mt opinion.more then that its what i believe in and how i live.how you live is none of my concern. Lark I didn't mean to talk crap about you,you say you're calling me on bs,well I returned the favor,we could at least be big boys about it. I got sucked in to talkin crap when you told me to shut up,I'll man up and take responsibility for my part.my side of the street is now clean,do what you will with yours.

    bear hunting dangerous?

Plus,I'm not saying bears will hunt you down, but it dang sure can get dangerous if you surprise a mama or a wounded bear.it would be wise to keep that in mind.

    bear hunting dangerous?

I never said your opinion doesn't count.it does to me. I just gave my opinion too,and mine counts as well, and you told me to shut up. My advice to the new hunter is to respect what nature and its animals can do,and not let pride and ego get in the way.its OK to have a healthy fear of bears, otherwise we would just decide its a good idea to sneak up to a sow and grab a cub. Its not about being scared of them, its about respecting what they have to ability to do.

    bear hunting dangerous?

Got it,you're as fearless as Clint Eastwood in hang em high. You'd look a charging boar in the eye and grin, right? I hunt in bear country, ive seen as many as 7 different bears in a day.i hike in and out in the dark.and it has NEVER altered my plans.I don't fear them, but I realize they can kill me,even if its unlikely they'd attack.but people get mauled by black bears every year Don't worry, you can't offend me,I'm obviously not as macho as you. I bet you could take a 300 lb sow with cubs with a spork. People like you only crack me up. There's nothing wrong with having respect for bears. Thanks for being friendly.

    bear hunting dangerous?

Just remember that the bear doesn't care that you don't fear it,its still very capable of turning you into a steamy bear poo. Also, don't allow your ego to cloud your judgement and respect.

    bear hunting dangerous?

I have a healthy fear of bears,I'm not afraid of them, but I do realize that they are very capable of taking me out if they want to,even if youre armed if you surprise one too close, advantage bear.I've been very close many times,I've been charged,I've found myself between a sow and cubs. In my opinion, you gotta have respect for them and be aware of your surroundings and you'll be fine.I agree, hunting bears isn't any more dangerous then being in bear country, but these guys thatre saying they don't fear em at all are just acting macho, ask them again when a big boar is charging them.... Just use your head, have respect for the animals, like we always should, and its as safe as any other hunting.

    " Coues " Pronunciation

Well if adams calls em cooz that seals the deal for me,I'd argue with him about it about as much as I'd try to teach stevie yzerman how to take a slapshot

And what does Mr Adams call them?

    " Coues " Pronunciation

The only person I've ever heard call them cows deer was a know it all new hunter that just had to try and correct all of us who have hunted them our entire lives on how to 'properly' pronounce coues. Havent seen him since,he already knew more about coues then us all on his first day so we never took him again....They will always be cooze to me.the pronunciation of words change over time, and even though cows might be technically correct,EVERY hunter I encounter call them cooze,so as far as I'm concerned that is the the new correct pronunciation.

    Pinal mountain this weekend

I don't think he was going to put it out then not hunt over it...or that he just was using it for companionship for the day...or that he wanted to haul an extra 8 pounds around for the day. Common sense says he was in the wrong, you know it,I know it,he knows it.its obvious,I don't care about proving it in a court of law (even tho its already beyond a reasonable doubt what he was doing),fact is he was doing all coues hunters wrong with his actions that day,and its bad for all of us.
