    Wyoming Draw Question

I know there are several members who have hunted antelope on Wyoming and I'm hoping someone can answer a random question for me. I'm looking at putting in for WY antelope this year and have a good grasp on how the draw works (regular v special, pp v random, etc). I can't seem to find an answer for one question I have. Do your pp's have any effect on your second choice? For instance, I have two pp's. I am looking at a first choice unit that has been guaranteed in the past with 3pp and about 50% with 2pp. If I choose a unit for my second choice that is usually guaranteed with 1pp, will my 2pp guarantee my second choice? Or are all second choice random draws? Hope I explained that so it makes sense. Thanks in advance for any input.

Shooting with camo netting on the face?

Maybe facial tattoo's? Something classy like Mike Tyson! In all seriousness, im with you, I cant shoot with a mask on. I cant feel the string as well on my nose and corner of my mouth. I only use face paint now.

Elk palmation racks, lets see them!

This should be a cool thread. We saw a awesome bull in unit one last year that had a palmated right main beam. Looked like a moose hybrid! By the time I dug out the camera he was gone.

    Big Lake

Our family usually goes camping around Big Lake around may/june and the kids always do pretty well on trout during that time of year. We are heading up there next weekend for the youth turkey hunt and I was wondering how the trout fishing will be. Is it still a bit to cool for the trout to be biting good? Thanks!
  11. I just purchased some of the truglo sights for my mossberg this year. They basically offer three versions, non adjustable plastic, adjustable plastic/metal, and adjustable all metal. I got the adjustable metal and plastic version for around $25. They work great and are easy to adjust but the front sight screws into your front bead hole. After shooting a few times to pattern/sight in the screw worked its was out and the front sight went flying off! If you get these, use some blue loctite. I looked at the all metal version but they were $50. If I were to rewind 4 months, I probably would have just got a red dot. I think the red dots have more adjustability and you can find a decent one for under $50. I think Cabelas has a BSA red dot in their bargain cave right now for $30. Finally, one of my buddies bought the Dead Ringer sights for his turkey gun for around $25 and is happy with them so far. Good luck!
  12. Well since the lizards are out my 4yo Brittany is in hog heaven! For some reason he loves pointing lizards. I swear sometimes he'll be more steady on lizards than quail!

    Unit 1

Man, you got it made! Just sit on the porch with a hot cup of coffee, shotgun, and a box call! Is there still much snow around up there?

    Big Lake

Indeed it is, one of my favorite places in AZ!

    Big Lake

Thanks for all the input. For the kids I keep it simple and just work up a carolina rig with a 12" leader and some powerbait or salmon eggs. I will try some of the other suggestions! Rossislider- Good luck on the turkey hunt!
  16. I guess its good to keep them busy in the off season! Cheaper than shooter pigeons too!

    Parking near Sky Harbor

We use the east economy lot when we fly out of PHX. As rossislider said, it's $9/day. They have the tram that runs from parking lot to all terminals for no aadditional charge. Our favorite part is the curbside bag check right there in the parking area. Pull right up to the curb, check your bags, park, jump on the train to the terminals. Easy process, especially if you have kids or lots of bags.

    turkey loads

+1 on the Longbeard XR's. I switched to them in the 3" #5's last year and am very happy with the pattern.

    OTC youth turkey

Yep. One of the best youth hunting opportunities IMO. I dont recall when they started this hunt, I just noticed it last year.

    OTC youth turkey

Some of my buddies and I are taking the kids to unit 1 for a dads/kids turkey hunt. My son is only 6 so he wont be able to hunt, but this will be his first extended hunting trip. He is pretty excited and has been driving my wife crazy with the box call I gave him. We re taking the fishing poles also so hopefully the trout will be biting at Big Lake! It will also give us time to scout for the grown up hunt the following week. I might take him to Nebraska next year. There is no minimum age there and the youth tags are only $5! Good luck to all and enjoy the time in the woods with the kids.

    Card Hit

I think the only true fair way to do it would be to just give me an early unit 9 archery bull tag every year. Just saying......

    Card Hit

I hear ya. If I strike out again here in AZ and NM, Im already thinking of otc units in Colorado and Idaho. I cant go another year without chasing elk with the bow! Every year without a tag kills me a bit more inside........

    Card Hit

I seem to remember the past few years they have not charged cc's on the weekends. I think it will resume Monday morning.

    Kudos to Leupold Customer Service!

I had an almost identical experience. I have a RX 600 rangefinder that I had for about three years before the lcd numbers began to fade and make the yardage unreadable. I called Leupold and they said to send it to them and they would look at it. I asked how much it would cost, since the 1 year warranty was long expired, and they told me there would be no charge even being out of warranty. I mailed it in and two weeks later received a brand new updated version of the RX600! Customer service has become one of my most important factors anymore when buying gear. For anything optics related, I only buy from Leopold or Vortex.
