About Me

I'm a more mature "geezer" having spent over 25 years in the Air Force before I "retired" to private life in 1994. A few years ago I retired again. I live in Albuquerque and love to hunt and fish. I have NEVER hunted "Couies" but always wanted to and decided to apply for the 2014 hunt in GMU 27 before I got any older. Somehow, I got drawn having missed out on Oryx (again) and Elk. I live in Albuquerque with my wife. We have 4 grown kids and 6 grandkids. Two live here in the "burque" and the rest live in California. My wife is originally from Salina, Kansas, and we go back there at least twice a year--usually more often--to see one of my daughters and visit my wife's sisters. I love to pheasant hunt Kansas but haven't done so for a few years since the bird numbers have been way down. I also love to hunt doves and quail and was hoping to find some places to hunt both down south. I'm also into the modern sporting rifle, more commonly known as the AR-15. I've built a couple of retro rifles (A1 and A2) and have a couple of Nodak Spud lower (A1 and A2) out for engraving. I plan to build a couple more rifles when I get those back. I also am a big fan of the Mark 12, Mod 1. I prefer Colt firearms, from the AR-15s to the Colt Pythons. I'm also into long-range shooting having shot my first bull elk 4 years ago at 452 yards and an antelope at 448 yards a few years later. Would love to hear from anyone on this site with info about dove, quail, and Coues deer hunting down south.
